I swapped out a Playbase with a Beam about a month ago. The Playbase has been wonderful for several years. Great sound, nicely tuned for TV usage. I would buy it again any day.I moved to a new house where the TV needs to go on the fireplace mantel, so I need something les than about 5 inches deep to fit the space.I thought a Beam would be perfect, and I expected the usual Sonos quality. I am deeply disappointed. The Beam has no midrange, which means dialog is especially bad.I have loudness off, I have EQ set to -10 bass, +10 treble. I tuned the room with Truplay. Truplay took the speaker from godawful to merely far beneath acceptable.I have checked the ARC connections, HDMI 2.2, Dolby, etc. I have been reading some other suggestions around these forums, but the reality is the Beam allows very little adjustment and also adjustment won't fix a bad speaker design.I don’t think the Beam is worth even $100 and it’s really not much of an upgrade compared to the poor quality speakers bu
So we run a bunch of ZP100s,ZP120s and a ZP80, plus a Play5, Playbar, Sub, and a plethora of Play1s and 3 CR100s.And up till now we have been walled off on 8.4 and quite happy. However about a year ago the stream from Spotify to devices stopped working. And last week my NAS drive failed (not a drive failure). Its done sterling service since 2004 and I’ll probably give it a good send off with a flag and all that.So now I can play the radio, and thats about it. All that tech and its just a wireless (with wires). There is a limited function Spotify option on the CR100 but its not great. For my daughter the loss of Spotify streaming was a deal breaker so I have reset her Play1 and upgraded it to S1, and Spotify ‘stream to device’ is back working. I have relinked Spotify on 8.4 several times to get it to work but no luck, so pretty much confirms that it is a feature loss for 8.4 rather than a config/network issue,NAS:My understanding from a catch up in the threads is that SMBv2/3 is likely t
Hello, I`ve build an integration for Sonos for my own voice controlled smart home system.I`ve used the Control API for that… now I would like to queue tracks / playlists from Spotify. Can anyone give me a hint how to do that…? I`ve already setup a Spotify integration, that enables me to search Spotify and get tthe item-id etc. But how can I queue those tracks from Spotify to my Sonos player? Thanks Carl
Hi I m thinking of purchasing the Move for my dance classes I run in a hall venue. I currently use a JBL Flip 5 but the volume output does not fill the space now is it loud enough. Would the Move work well for this application?
Sonos kicks in when I play my squeezebox. How spooky is that? It also does the same occasionally when my landline rings. I don't use any voice control system. It plays whatever I last played from my music library.
My husband has a Technics SL-1500 Direct Drive Player System in working condition that I would like to be able to add to our Sonos system. I can’t comment on the sound, only that it powers on when I tried it.We have Sonos Amps and I know that the turntable would also need a pre-amp. My question is if this vintage turntable is worth putting much money (possibly) into, along with the required pre-amp? I would like to refurbish it for nostalgic sake (Valentine’s gift), as long as the end result is a good audio product. Otherwise would it be wiser to purchase a new turntable with a built in pre-amp.Thanks for any help.
Is anyone able to tell me if the snooze function for iOS apps has been fixed on S2? I’m currently still running S1 so that I can use CR200 controllers because the snooze function on iOS has never worked properly. Clearly Sonos aren’t going to fix it for S1 now, I just wanted to know if it worked properly on S2. Currently if you long press the alarm notification on the Lock Screen it offers a snooze function but it doesn’t work. Opening the app produces a ‘no alarm is playing’ notification. It definitely isn’t my system - a quick search of this forum shows it to be an ongoing issue. I don’t want to upgrade to S2 only to discover it still hasn’t been fixed. It’s a real shame Sonos decided to stop making controllers. I don’t want to have to go looking for my phone in the middle of dinner just to put some music on. The lack of them, for me, is beginning to cheapen the entire experience.
I bought myself a new Panasonic TV (TX-55JZ1500B) and a new home theatre system (Arc, 2 x Play 1 SL and Sub) and thought it would be helpful to add my experience. Arc connected to TV eArc.The initial set-up want flawlessly, connected it all up and it worked just fine. Then a little while ago I noticed that the sound would cutout for about 10 seconds and then return. Initially I suspected an interruption to the TV signal (sound only, not picture). However, this has happened 5 or 6 times now. I’ve not investigated because it’s not been a significant problem. Then a few days ago, after switching th TV on, the TV remove wouldn’t control the volume any more (the sound level didn’t change), though the screen said that it was reducing the volume, and the sound was coming out of the Sonos speakers.Everything seemed fine with the connections so I did the old power off and on again, no difference. After trying various combinations of plugging / un-plugging things and powering on and off, I still
A framework in Python for a simple (battery powered?) controller, with album art display, using the great SoCo Python library. Uses the Waveshare 1.3inch LCD HAT, which has a joystick and three buttons for control. These are less than $20 on Amazon. A case with buttons can be 3D printed using these files from PiSugar, for use with their battery.I haven’t tried the battery, and don’t have a 3D printer, but it should make for a nice portable controller. Of course, power optimizations, such as turning off HDMI, Bluetooth, etc, would be required on the Pi Zero W.Anyhow, here’s the basic script. Requires the Waveshare installations down to but not including their FBCP driver (under “Guides for Pi” tab), as well as SoCo, the Python Pillow library, and WaveShare’s ST7789.py script (just copy to same directory as the sonos.py script below).I haven’t programmed the 3 buttons, but the joystick is used for volume up/down, prev/next, and play/pause. The screen displays the album art or radi
Wow seems to be a common thread here with these Sonos Ones…shame product was not built well to start great music average experience... Report submitted number is: 451659277I have fixed the IP address for both Sonos products...I still need to reset my One each day…I have had this issue with two different routers and wifi setups...there is something defective about the wifi in these devices… Please come back with report analysis so I may update whatever needs to happen for this delicate little flower to work on wifi...
Hello community :)Is the speaker setup I came up with pretty much correct? We don’t have a huge budget. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks a lot!Basia
I have an old HK receiver I used for a theater back in the day. Converted the entire house to Sonos now. I wanted to to set it up in garage and connect the port to it,to run some additional outdoor speakers in the backyard around the pool. I have the Sonos amp connected to my ceiling speakers outside which produce great sound but the back of the yard not so much. I would prefer buying the port vs another amp to save some dollars. Looking for some suggestions if I should try and use the port or make it simple and just by another Sonos amp. I know the newer receivers have more options for the Port but this is just for 2- 6” landscape speakers so buying a new amp or receiver seems like overkill. Any suggestions welcomed..
Hello. After last update. I have had issues with the sonos app for Android samsung S20. When I press sub-sound, the whole app shuts down. i have tried uninstalling the app, and reinstalling it did not help.Sonos amp
I’m wondering if it’s possible to stream Hi-Res music from the Tidal or Qoboz app to the Chromecast app in my Sony TV, to which is attached a Sonos Playbar, and hear the music in higher quality than if I used my Sonos S1 app to stream the music through Sonos to my Playbar. Everything I’ve read on the Sonos website and in user forums is very confusing on this point, and I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks!
I was thinking about getting the Roam for two things both of which I only do occasionally: listen to music in the backyard, and watch a movie that is worth having surround sound for. But I’ve just found out the second use is not possible.I’ve read other posts about technical issues, things like “re-tuning the Trueplay” but since I’m Android, that’s a feature of my Arc I can’t use anyway. In response to a request for this on the Move someone said voice assistants would have to be disabled and re-activated every time - why not a temporary disable when put into surround mode? Got to be do-able surely? My problem is I’ve got no good place for a permanent rear speaker, so a portable speaker is the ideal solution: why can’t I have the option of using the Roam - even if there are some limitations? Add this feature and I’m getting one ASAP.
I play 4K movies off a hard drive plugged into my Philips 65PUS6754/12 TV. I have sent up the surround system using an arc, a sub and two ones. Playing certain files off the hard drive there are sync issues that are not there when I just use the TV speakers. I know I can adjust the audio delay in the settings on the app but am struggling to get it 100% matched up. Is there any settings I can change or any tips to help get it perfectly in sync, thanks.
Thanks to advice in this community and others on the internet, I was able to easily connect my turntable (Fluance RT-80 with built-in pre-amp) to my existing Sonos home theatre system for an all-wireless solution. My Sonos system consists of a Playbar, two One speakers, and a Sub. None of these have a line-in or RCA inputs for sound from the turntable. Sonos states there are three solutions on its “How To Listen to Vinyl With Sonos” blog: you need a Five, Amp, or Port. Each of these solutions is several hundred dollars - more than I wanted to spend. However, this ignores the Roam. The small Bluetooth portable speaker is inexpensive (one-third the cost of a Five). If I had a Bluetooth turntable, the Roam would have been all I needed. However, my turntable does not have Bluetooth, so I needed to purchase a Bluetooth transmitter and a Stereo Mini to RCA Y-Audio Cable. I chose the 1Mii ML301 Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver, an inexpensive, elegant, compact, rechargeable (USB-C charging
While I wait for a dedicated cable, is it possible to connect a Beosound Ouverture Heaphone Socket to a SONOS Play:5 Gen 2 Line–In socket. Or is the output too weak?
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows how I should proceed. I’ve had a defective online order (beam 2) authorised for replacement, the item was returned and delivery is tracked and confirmed, but despite the original email stating this should take approx 5 days I’m now well over that. What concerns me is that my emails get totally ignored. Chat support advise me to email the Sonos support email address, but no one responds. Chat support says not their area, they can’t help. I’d hate to have to claim back through cc, or small claims court, but how long should I realistically just sit back and wait? At this point they have my money and I have no purchase. Apologies if this isn’t the right forum, just thought maybe you guys would know how to proceed. Thanks again.
It seems a shame that it is only possible to add two subs to a home cinema set up. Why not two Fives and two subs?
How can I connect my TV wirelessly to my Sonos?
ASTC 3.0/NextGen is broadcasting with Dobly AC-4 format and not AC-3 or Dobly Digital . I read AC-4 is framed based audio and is not compatible to AC3 , DD or DD plus. How would my Sonos ARC handle this audio? Most of the major cities or market will have ASTC 3.0 broadcast this years. Seems Sonos as a premium product would need to add Dolby AC-4 support ?
Hi I am interested in buying sonos for the first time and want to be able to play vinyl on a vintage turntable we inherited (1970s Pioneer PL-50). We also have a Pioneer SX-9000 receiver, but we got rid of the speakers because we don’t want the bulk. We would like to figure out whether we can connect this turntable to a sonos system, if so do we need to keep the receiver or buy a pre-amp, and then which Sonos component should we buy?Do I need the receiver? It is very complicated, with jacks that are marked “ Pre out and mixing rec.” “Main in” a toggle that says “Pre & Main Separated Intercoupled” “Phono Mag 1, Mag 2, Aux 1” etc. Seems like it would be easy to mess up and has much more capacity than I need Can a modern preamp connect to my vintage turntable? Given I have no speakers which sonos speaker should I get? The Five?Thank you!Kathy
Hi community! I’m a long time Sonos owner (I have about 12 Play:1’s) just ordered a couple SL’s, had a Play:5 Gen1 pass through my hands and ordered a Gen1 Beam (used). I’m a little bit of an enthusiast, having gifted a couple play:1 to my parents, the play:5 Gen 1, etc. I’m here to say hi, but to ask something: In a large space, what do any of you feel is optimal arrangement of Play:1’s or Ones? The reason I ask this is that I have an open loft apartment. I have stereo pairs around in the kitchen, office, living room, but recently discovered that adding a single unpaired between the stereo pair added some kind of something that I liked a bit. It got me to thinking: Would I want to put all of my “left channels” to one side of the apartment and right channels to the right side? I wonder if there is any possibility that the Tuning feature could be enhanced to apply to pairs of speakers in a room to optimize the entire room into a single 360 experience of sorts? Has anyone done their ow
