Likely so. I’ve had 4 people “retire” in my company in the last 6 months. And my company is much smaller than Sonos is.
Mine sounds solid. Update deff fixed the arc and sub issues for me
It would be really awesome to hear direct from Sonos as to whether or not they consider the issue resolved. Not sure why we have to play Schrodinger's patch here when they could just tell us what was or wasn’t fixed.
Definately hear an improvement with the Arc, 2xSub and surrounds with Trueplay on! Apart from the improved bass also noticed that the Arc + Surrounds sounds are more balanced now, prior to 14.18 when playing music I would be hearing all the audio from the surrounds.
Will re-run Trueplay later and see if that improves it even further.
Just watched “Bad Boys for Life” in Atmos with the new patch 14.18.
Volume at 30 was loud enough to clearly hear the voices. With the EQ bass at +1 and treble at 0, sub-level +2, and later on I figured out to reduce the surround audio to -2 for my room. Seems quite balanced to my ears. The bass is deep, mids are good and treble is also fine. Total result is very satisfying in my opinion.
It lasted 3 months, but I really do think I have the sound back where I want it to be. Sincerely hoping everyone can hear and feel the difference. Although this has taken a long time, me personally am very happy I can enjoy my system again. Can’t speak for the rest in here, but truly hope, everyone can confirm there is a very big improvement with 14.18.
Yeah Yeah I don’t need to dial up the volume up to 50 to hear the dialogue especially on streaming services.
I have to agree with everyone on this thread. I think there’s a major improvement in how it sounds. I’m not sure if it’s 14.10 but it’s significantly better and I love the new song profile.
Just installed the update and re-ran TruePlay. Low end is definitely back - I’ve got rumble again with the Sub output set to 0 and TruePlay on. Night and day difference between this and the 14.12 update.
After an evening watching both streaming and bluray movies I have found an improvement over the previous patches
Though I don't think it is totally fixed all the issues it is a step in the right direction
Truplay is now usable let us hope sonos build on this and we don't return to previous mistakes
Sounds much better wiith 14.18 …turned loudness off and sub +2 after update/ retrueplay/ shut power off and on reboot tv arc and sub and blueray together .1st time turning off loudness arc/gen3 setup bought right at 14.12 update new .better than new for me now never heard 14.10
I just watched Rogue one on blu ray definately the sound is back with more bass, which is what we wanted…..
Any improvements with 14.18 for those without a sub?
I bought a stereo pair of One SLs last week and notice that the bass is significantly cut after running Trueplay.
Hi all,
Thank you for your continued discussion. We’re really happy to be able to tell you that today we’ll release an update that will include fixes to the issues that resulted from the 14.12 software update with Enhanced Clarity for Arc.In the 14.12 release, we made a change to Arc’s sound profile to improve dialogue clarity and the overall sound experience. Since that update, some users whose configuration included a Sub have experienced two issues:
- Users of Arc would find the same volume settings resulted in lower output volume. Whilst the maximum volume and bass capabilities were unchanged, volume settings in the lower regions resulted in a quieter sound than before the update
- Users of Arc, Beam and Ray would find their Sub output is lower than desired after performing a new Trueplay tuning.
(Home theatre configurations without a Sub were unaffected, including standalone soundbars and those bonded with surrounds only)
With the 14.18 software update, both of these issues have been addressed, and the Enhanced Clarity for Arc adjustments are retained. There was a clear preference within our community for the previous volume settings, and these have been restored. This will be apparent immediately after updating to 14.18. The Trueplay issue has been fixed. Customers who experienced a lower Sub level after performing Trueplay after updating to 14.12 will need to update their systems and then perform a new Trueplay tuning in order to address these improvements in their system. Customers will hear a more powerful low end response, meaning any Sub level adjustments made after 14.12 should no longer be required.
@Corry P
Thanks for the post the patch has restored some of the sound but the sound signature is still overly treble in nature for my ears is this now permanent?
If so I will be disappointed
Hi @skullc
If you still have an issue with the sound of your Arc, I can only recommend you get in touch with our technical support team for the issue to be documented.
Before doing so, I would recommend perhaps tuning with a different device - if that’s an option for you, and if you haven’t tried already.
I hope this helps.
@ skullc
From my testing:
Trueplay with iphone 12 mini - brighter Arc, balanced sub
Trueplay with iphone SE (2nd. gen) - balanced Arc, more sub bass with additional lower frequencies.
@Corry P thank you for the update
I have a new iphone 14 pro and I cant retune trueplay ‘cause the phone its not yet supported. Any ETA on the iphone 14 pro compatibility with TruePlay?

You have an Ipad?

Yes it's brighter which is my issue I have to turn treble down to -6 the sound signature is changed so much
Clarity was never an issue for me pre 14.12
The bass is back but the whole clarity update has made the arc to centre oriented with way to much treble
It is now usable and doesn't make want to throw it out of the window but it is not my taste in audio
@Corry P
I have already called support multiple times but resetting my speakers and router does nothing
I will keep an eye/ear on future updates but I am not hopeful
It has just reinforced my opinion that I need to look elsewhere for my home cinema audio listening pleasure
Thanks for your reply
@ skullc
I understand that but it might be the device you’re using. If i remember Peter Pee tested the trueplay with 12 mini and 12 pro. He was very dissapointed with the results of the Pro version. I guess the 13 is almost the same phone, so the problem might be the same. Don’t get me wrong, i trully support you that the truplay must work exactly the same with every iphone, but the practice shows it’s not, so thats why i offer you advice to try it with different device. They might nevere fix it to be equal.
Regards!

@msf
Yes I know where you are coming from however I only have my 13 pro to do this and no access to a different ios device
I used the phone prior to 14.12 to run truplay with no problems
I run truplay after every patch whether I am asked to or not seems strange that a patch charges how my phone does truplay
I watch Peter pee all the time so was aware of his fault finding techniques and I am not prepared to buy another device but thanks for your reply
@skullc
I don’t see too much of an issue here. The reason the EQ settings are there is to customise things after TruePlay tuning, if that means you prefer the treble at -6 then just leave it there, where that seems to suit your hearing/environment. Each room is different and we all hear things differently.
I do prefer the ‘brightness’ that TruePlay brings to the audio, particularly now the Bass issue has been rectified, but I’m sure I may still go onto adjust the EQ settings when things have settled down and I’ve listened for a while.

Never owned any audio equipment that I have needed to back off the treble so much
I understand that you are happy but the rich sound I had before has been replaced with an over abundance of clarity for my taste
Just as the bose sound signature is not my taste in audio the new sonos one isn't either
This is my issue not yours and the other speakers I use for music listening are fine but my home cinema setup isn't
Thanks for your reply but I feel I may look elsewhere for this part of my audio setup
I updated yesterday and initial thoughts are it's better than 14.12, but still not as good as 14.10. I still need to calibrate TruePlay again so maybe that'll bring it even closer.
I'm with the others that don't enjoy the Arc sound profile now. Before it was pretty rich, warm (though still brighter than the Beam) and full. Now it's still a bit boxy/hollow sounding a la 14.12 and that appears to be a decision Sonos are sticking with. It's not enough for me to want to get rid of the setup, it's just disappointing, and it will make me think very carefully about buying Sonos products in the future when they can change the sound profile so drastically with no user option to reverse the changes.
