We moderators of the community - @Corry P, @Jamie A & @Sotiris C. - wanted to take an opportunity to explain some of what is currently happening on the community.
First of all, we value all the feedback you are providing about the new Sonos App. We hear you. Feedback is coming in fast and thick, however - for understandable reasons - and to be frank, we are having trouble just keeping up with it all. For this reason, some topics that have not yet been replied to will go unanswered. We will, however, do our best to amalgamate some of these separate threads into bigger, related threads (such as one big thread for Alarm complaints and another for Queue Management) to be answered en-mass. The threads that are feedback on other aspects of the new app will be merged with this post.
Threads that describe issues such as missing rooms and app crashes (those that are not just feedback, in other words) will be answered, as will threads not relating to the new app in anyway, but these will take a bit longer than normal.
Please be aware that we are reading every post, we are recording and collating all feedback, and all of it will be passed over to the app software development team. In addition, we are doing our best to identify previously unidentified issues and report them to our technical teams.
We know many of you are concerned about certain features going missing, so let us take this opportunity to say that the following features are coming back:
Alarms management
Sleep timers
Queue management
Playlist editing
In addition and contrary to some speculation, local Music Library is not going anywhere, though SMBv1 support has been permanently removed. Local Music Library searching is something that is still being worked on.
We’d also like to thank everyone who has taken it upon themselves to help others here with their questions and concerns - we appreciate you all!
Thanks for listening - take care of yourselves, and each other.

LMS control app
How it should be done?
Both Apple and Android operating systems already cater for ‘Dark Mode’ these days, so I would be surprised if Sonos (or similar developers) would bother to re-invent the wheel. It’s only a minority that this might apply to, I suspect, and it’s likely not worth the added development cost.
Cost? How many lines of code are we talking about.? It's not programming the Hadron Collider, for goodness sake! Or even expecting auto translation into Mongolian.....it's black and white

Got enough feedback yet?
Pull the damn app update now. At least save people that haven't updated yet. GROW A SET OF BALLS.

Exactly the opposite needed given the shafting they delivered - LESS TESTOSTERONE BALLSY refusal to admit the mess is what's needed

Yes a few coloured lines of code is what’s needed…
Hi, Just gone to my phone to see I have the new app.
For me it’s a dead app - I have no Recently Played or Services - all blank.
Search produces no result and I have lost my NAS.
I can’t add a Service so how am I supposed to use Sonos?
My tablet ( vs. 16.1) which I hoped had not updated now cant find any speakers and wants me to re set them all!
11 speakers that I cant control.
Help!
Maybe sign out the new App and sign-in again. If still no joy, perhaps try an App reset from the user account settings and reconnect the App back to the existing Sonos system on the same network subnet.
Hope you can get it sorted.
Thanks Ken - signing out did the trick - now to see if its as bad as many would have us believe!
Not happy about losing my NAS though.

Glad it worked - is your NAS connected over Ethernet or USB? If it’s Ethernet-linked, what sharing protocol is the library using, SMB-1, or SMB-2 (or higher) ?

I spoke too soon - proves the point don’t believe everything you read!
I didn’t actually check my NAS before I responded having read so much in a search for a resolution to my initial problem that they were no longer supported - its all there and sounding good!
thanks again…...

Hopefully you won't need to search or re-index your local music library on your NAS though!
Has anyone tested the web application?! Android 13 tablet 9 inches. Can THIS really be considered a user-friendly interface?
y such huge icons?
I can now play music and search on Amazon music, however, I cannot pin elements to the home page, will this be resolved?
Based on the other posts, between 2 weeks and 60 days for the features that were removed.
@aix,
I too thought that the icons were a bit on the large side aswell. These below screenshots are different orientated Web App views within a Safari browser on an iPad Pro.
I really like the layout, I prefer it to the new Sonos App (just a personal thing), but some icons could do with being smaller.
I prefer the landscape view below…
Are we getting alphabet search back, you know the bar on the right hand side of the screen that you can select any letter quickly. It’s a scrolling nightmare.
I will say for me the Sonos journey is over. I amazed, and Sonos is not the first, when a company destroys the trust of its customers. I also have no faith that the Sonos management even use their own product. This would never have been considered acceptable by a frequent user and deemed totally unacceptable by anyone passionate about their product. I am not going to sell any of my kit, to my ears it still sounds great, but I will never recommend it to others and I will NEVER initiate an update again till I see that my system would still work. I have been appalled by what Sonos management have done and the least they could do is allow the old app to be downloaded whilst the new one has the features of the current. The arrogance to say this was brave is unbelievable, it was utterly stupid and miscalculated risk. Brave would have been to delay the launch till the app was ready.
The sad thing, like others I suspect, I was eager to see the new App. I expected it to be a new learning experience and take some time to learn the new navigation. What I did not expect was that features, many of which I and other find essential, would be missing. Whist I thank the Sonos staff here and on the support lines, for their information on when things will be back, I just don’t trust your management team to deliver. The missing features should have been there for day one. Why the rush to release on the 7th May.
I’m not going to say much more other than that I am surprised just how much a simple app change has affected my favourite pastime and made it into a unnecessary dread. It is a first world problem but Music is my relaxation and Sonos have replaced that with stress.
Finally again thanks again to the Sonos support team and thank you for this forum still being here throughout. Let us hope common sense prevails soon.
I bet Sonos were banking on the furore to have died down by now.
Looks like they were being overly optimistic
This seems to have legs. It will be interesting to see if the still go ahead with the AMA on Tues ( which they will heavily moderate) or finally buckle.
On a more controversial note, I took apple up on a free 6 month sub and tested the new app with a streaming service and it seemed alright, not that I have any experience of the previous app with streaming - I am a Luddite and only use local files). Mind you - anything thing will seem alright, given the sh!t-show that is the local file implementation in the new app.
I can now play music and search on Amazon music, however, I cannot pin elements to the home page, will this be resolved?

Yes there are some details mentioned by the Sonos Staff here…

They seem stubborn enough to continue ignoring the feedback. They will probably argue that the people complaining here are only a small part of their user community.
I am not sure now they can ignore this at the AMA because my guess is that most of the people that attend will be form the “minority” here that have complained.
Finally, if as expected this is about shipping a new set of headphones I can guarantee that I will not be buying a pair.
Sonos S2 app rating down to 2.2 stars now in the Play store. Falling rapidly, every time I check it's fallen further. It would seem Apple app store has a different algorithm to keep the score stable?

I cannot control pause and volume well. Trying to pause music either does not work or there’s a 10-15 second delay. The app is so incredibly buggy it’s becoming frustrating and I’m questioning why I stay with this annoying system since there always seems to be an issue (even prior to the app update).

Do others have an issue with Sonos and iOS?
Post removed.
Do others have an issue with Sonos and iOS?
That’s a weirdly non-specific question, considering where we are currently.
Well, have you read anything in this thread or any of the other recent threads? If not, I suggest you do. It should answer your question.
I’m also a little surprised that someone hasn’t chosen to re-quote the whole of @User438561’s original posts here too.. ha ha.
Sorry but they did make me chuckle.

Oooh I thought initially you were saying you had got your hands on a pair of Sonos headphones… but I guess you are referring just to headphones in general.
There’s maybe little doubt that almost everyone here/elsewhere in the community may ‘perhaps’ have headphones of some sort.
I can’t personally imagine the allegedly forthcoming Sonos Headphone supporting the proprietary LDAC codec (just a guess by me), but maybe LHDC/HWA or Qualcomm’s Apt-X Lossless (Snapdragon), Apt-X HD/LL and even LC3 will be in the Sonos mix. That’s aswell as the standard BT codecs AAC/SBC, plus let’s not forget WiFi too. …"Gosh I’m personally expecting far too much here already!!”…and I’ve not yet mentioned Noise Cancelling, or Conference/Phone Calling features either.
Maybe we will see SVC and other voice assistants onboard the headset too. (I’m hoping for Alexa).
I’ve certainly seen 30 hours battery life mentioned in the media.
I assume many here are also expecting TV audio playback in perfect lip-sync, but hopefully that will be with head-tracked Spatial TV/Music Audio (Dolby/360 RA) aswell, similar to other ‘top of the range’ headphones, that a good many seem to be using nowadays.
The Sonos headphone rumours though have been around this community (and elsewhere online) for a very (very) long time, some years in fact, but these things are starting to feel almost like they ‘might’ just be around the corner.
Admittedly, I’ve been saving my ‘dosh’ in readiness. This recent App ‘remote’ controller software issue is not going to put me off the hardware and something that’s supposedly been in the Sonos pipeline for a very long time.

Well, I was musing over new headphones. I use Audible a lot and Sonos is the only streamer which offers it as a service.
I'm very hesitant now, partly over this update fiasco, partly over the actual cost, but mainly because my hearing is so shot that most of the high-end features would be wasted (sort of in one ear and out the other ). May invest in a few decent bottles of scotch and bourbon, instead). Cheers!

That's not to say I'd turn down the offer to beta test a pair of their ACE cans. Hint! Hint!
I have 3 amps and 17 speakers and I am seriously considering replacing the lot with a product like BlueSound that does not make rookie mistakes like this. It is really too bad. It used to be a decent product. They can save some of it save it by posting the old app and letting us downgrade.
Whoever did QC and app testing on the new app, should be fired. As founder and CEO of a software company in the public sector, I have seen plenty botched releases, but nothing like this one. There is no excuse for releasing something this bad. They should be ashamed of themselves.
