We moderators of the community - @Corry P, @Jamie A & @Sotiris C. - wanted to take an opportunity to explain some of what is currently happening on the community.
First of all, we value all the feedback you are providing about the new Sonos App. We hear you. Feedback is coming in fast and thick, however - for understandable reasons - and to be frank, we are having trouble just keeping up with it all. For this reason, some topics that have not yet been replied to will go unanswered. We will, however, do our best to amalgamate some of these separate threads into bigger, related threads (such as one big thread for Alarm complaints and another for Queue Management) to be answered en-mass. The threads that are feedback on other aspects of the new app will be merged with this post.
Threads that describe issues such as missing rooms and app crashes (those that are not just feedback, in other words) will be answered, as will threads not relating to the new app in anyway, but these will take a bit longer than normal.
Please be aware that we are reading every post, we are recording and collating all feedback, and all of it will be passed over to the app software development team. In addition, we are doing our best to identify previously unidentified issues and report them to our technical teams.
We know many of you are concerned about certain features going missing, so let us take this opportunity to say that the following features are coming back:
Alarms management
Sleep timers
Queue management
Playlist editing
In addition and contrary to some speculation, local Music Library is not going anywhere, though SMBv1 support has been permanently removed. Local Music Library searching is something that is still being worked on.
We’d also like to thank everyone who has taken it upon themselves to help others here with their questions and concerns - we appreciate you all!
Thanks for listening - take care of yourselves, and each other.

General feedback (not relating specifically to those below):

Please note that there is an official statement that can be read here.

Tune-In Radio not working. Fix it.
Under Sonos Favorites and elsewhere, the list view of stations where you could see 10-20 items on your screen before you had to swipe up or down now has FOUR, count them FOUR, friggin huge icons and I have to swipe 10 times to get through my favorites list. Get rid or at least allow a toggle from GIANT ICON VIEW to LIST VIEW in the settings. I already created a complaint and a Sonos person said what is ‘list view’? Have you seen or used the previous nice working app you had?!
Upon tapping a GIANT ICON, you have two options within - Play or remove. Assuming I tapped on the GIANT ICON, I would assume I wanted to play it. You can delete the favorite outside the icon. Get rid of this annoying and redundant operation (play within the ICON). Usability, people.
Finally, do not release betas to people and call it ‘courage’. That comment made me angry. Courage in taking a pretty great application and reducing it to garbage. Yeah - that takes courage. I assume this unfinished release was tied to a date that must happen or some executive’s bonus plan. Why release this piece of s$*#?
Completely fed up with Sonos and your ridiculous (not) update!
I open the app - it's greyed out except for services. YouTube music is completely non-functional, no connection at all. I've got a pinned collection which is no longer accessible and I am unable to delete it!
I really hate what you've done and have no idea why you've done it! I want to go back to S2 please!!!
Any chance there could be a dark theme?
Maybe in 6 months or more That is the least of their problems…
What’s wrong with the Dark Mode features that the App uses from the controller device settings at the moment? I was thinking it looked okay - same goes for the new Web App too.
No idea how to get dark mode in android
Just checked my system today and got these 2 just to add insult to injury.
Yep! That's what I've got!!!!
Just checked my system today and got these 2 just to add insult to injury.
Now a Standard feature TC. You can almost see the app trying to catch up with a button press
And why my NAS Music Library fails to appear in any music search I do not know
Dark mode is instigated in Android from the global display setting
Dear Sonos, it beggars belief that you have such arrogance to treat your customers the way you do. First, you unleash a new app that lacks any coherent and useful functionality, and second, to add further insult, you arbitrarily decide to remove features your customers rely on.
Let’s start with the first point. The new app has already received so much negative feedback, if it were a car, your update has effectively, removed the brakes, stopped the windshield wipers working, and the car can no longer go in reverse. Not that it matters as you wouldn’t be able to open the car doors to get in and drive anyway.
On point 2, removing functionality that customers rely on, not because it is faulty, but because Sonos have decided that we customers need protecting from ourselves. I’m talking about the removal of SMBv1 from those of us who use NAS devices to play our own music. Again, if Sonos produced a coffee maker, after the update, it would only brew coffee grown from ethically sourced suppliers. A noble gesture, but not one for Sonos to make. let your customers be responsible for their actions.
Sonos, you need to get your act together. You are reprehensible in your treatment of us, the customers who have purchased into your technology and allowed you to grow to be the company you are. We ask to be treated fairly, with respect, and that you listen to our collective concerns, address the issues you have created and then pushed onto your customers with no regard for our use of your products, and certainly no quality control either.
To any Sonos users out there that feel as I do, please follow my lead and contact Patrick Spence, the CEO of Sonos. The more that do so, the greater the impact. His email address is ceo@sonos.com Let him know just how much negativity Sonos have generated, and the erosion of customer loyalty and goodwill.

Under Android, you must set the light/dark mode using the phone/tablet menu
‘Dark mode’ is working on Android - I just grabbed these shots (portrait and landscape) from my ‘cheap’ tablet -which is a little slow, but S2 and other Apps were/are slow on it too… I need to upgrade it, me thinks.

Yes, the setting is under ‘Display’ on my Android settings too as @Acardshort mentions.

Nothing about light/dark - not even in sub menus

The new layout is completely unintuitive. New developers need to reinvent the wheel, I guess?
Your customers have been used to and happy with the *very* intuitive previous layout - especially when managing multiple rooms. What were you thinking?
As far as the features that will be coming back - if that was the plan all along, WHY would you release a broken version (without those features) instead of waiting until you had a version that had them working?
Seriously: whoever okayed the layout change should lose their job. It’s awful.

Open settings then at the top, key a search for dark mode. That should take you to the setting.

Nope - nothing found . Doesn't seem to exist on Huawei tablets ! Only via app itself

Its my understanding that Hauwei is prevented from acess to android. Your running Harmony OS and not Android.
@castalla,
So how do you get Dark Mode for your operating system and Apps in general? I can only assume it’s a limitation of your controller device, perhaps?
Anyhow I’m also not sure why some users are having issues with the new App display/device connections on their Android devices, but it seems to be okay here - the Music Services work too.
Two things I am seeing though, is my local library icons are not displaying (but things do still work/play) and the other is the BBC Sounds service, some of its icons for radio stations are not showing up either.
LMS control app
How it should be done?
Hi how does one put the old App back on an I phone?
One cannot.
Sonos have deliberate removed it from Apple’s App Store. And if you try to use an early one, Sonos prevent use by requiring a firmware update on their hardware so it only works with the new ioS App. Nifty.
Rollback is only possible through Android repository.
LMS control app
How it should be done?
Both Apple and Android operating systems already cater for ‘Dark Mode’ these days, so I would be surprised if Sonos (or similar developers) would bother to re-invent the wheel. It’s only a minority that this might apply to, I suspect, and it’s likely not worth the added development cost.
Hi, Just gone to my phone to see I have the new app.
For me it’s a dead app - I have no Recently Played or Services - all blank.
Search produces no result and I have lost my NAS.
I can’t add a Service so how am I supposed to use Sonos?
My tablet ( vs. 16.1) which I hoped had not updated now cant find any speakers and wants me to re set them all!
11 speakers that I cant control.
Help!

Maybe sign out the new App and sign-in again. If still no joy, perhaps try an App reset from the user account settings and reconnect the App back to the existing Sonos system on the same network subnet.
Hope you can get it sorted.
