I have an old 5.1 surround sound system that my customer wants to upgrade. If possible, he’d like to keep his good quality existing front left, right and left right surround speakers. His center speaker and subwoofer can be replaced. The room is large. ( 25’ x 36’ by 18’foot peak ceiling, on a cement slab) My issue is that I can’t seem to get a straight answer from Sonos whether I can use an Arc soundbar as the center speaker and use one Sonos Amp for the two front speakers and another Sonos Amp for the two surround speakers and a Sonos Sub and actually get a 5.1 surround sound system. They’ve sent me links to articles that reference using Sonos surround speakers. Even if the customer was willing to give up his existing surround speakers there are no 120 VAC wall outlets where his existing speakers are and no way to conveniently add the wires because the room is on a cement slab. So …….. Can anyone confirm that I can use two Sonos Amp’s, an Arc Sound Bar, Sonos Sub and get a true 5.1
Hi, wondering if mounted on the wall above sofa or opposite sofa is best? No TV involved, just want to be able to play music and not have them on side tables. Pics for reference!
Moderator edit:Google Translate- The Radio France service is registered and the stations are working but the voice control has not been working for a few days. The message asks to register the Radio France service (already done) then goes to white noise….a similar mention from another user.
I have been waiting for over 45 min for support (chat) after waiting for over 30 minutes trying to call Sonos. Why not help customers within a reasonable timeframe to make sure one would recommend Sonos, buy products again and shout its products from the rooftops? Who knows this community is able to help me out! I cannot use my Sonos Roam / not connect the Sonos Roam; the Roam is not recognized by my iPhone nor Macbook.I charged multiple times with two (10V) chargers, to be sure it wasn’t the charger that caused problems; After plugging a charger the orange light does shine for a few seconds and the white light on top starts flashing; Pressing the on off button does not cause anything; no sound, no difference in flashing lights; Pressing the play button long results in the top light flashing white and orange, as described in the support article, but no matter how long I press and wait, the light does not turn green; the WiFi is working. I uninstalled the apps on both my Iphone and Macb
What happened you guys? My repeat button is gone. I am trying to play from ‘music library.’ I am on iOS build 80.09.09 which was released in the last few days with the only notes being ‘fixed bugs.’
I have an ARC and a set of Era 100’s. I am considering Era 300’s or the ARC Ultra. Will I get better results with upgrading the 100’s to the 300’s or keeping the 100’s and moving from the ARC to the ARC Ultra? Which will give me the biggest bang for my buck? I will only be able to upgrade to one of these.
I installed my Sonos system 2 days ago and I add the Plex service. Plex remote access is working properly. I could play my Plex flac files whithin Sonos app immediatelly. Yesterday I ripped some new CDs and I added them to Plex. I could play the flac files from Plexamp to Sonos devices but from the Sonos app I can see all the files but when I add them to the queue I receive the messase "I can't play - song name - Plex connection server lost. The flac files added originally could still play within Sonos app. I tried many things that I read online... suddenly after activate/disactivate the Plex remote connection, the new files where available also in the Sonos app. Today I added new files to Plex and again I can't play them within Sonos app but only from Plexamp to Sonos... I read everything about this subject, the situation is very weird, does anybody have an idea? To me looks like a Sonos bug.
My new arc ultra has anvannoying problem that did not occur on the sonos amp it replaced: whenever the tv switches audio format (say, from dd 2.0 to dd 5.1) the soundbar goes silent. Occurs 80% of the times more frequent on apple tv) and makes the whole experience a nightmare. My tv is correctly set up to passthrough audio. Only workaround seems to force audio to pcm, which is of course not a solution. My tv is a sony bravia a8g, an older (but great) model with no earc.Is there any hope? Went through troubleshooting with customer service but no luck so far.
ARC, sub and surrounds aren’t connecting to the TV audio when I start up. If I unplug the tv and/or the ARC the system reboots and works but this happens 2 out of every 3 times I start the TV and is a huge annoyance. The TV and ARC are plugged into the wall behind the wall mounted TV so unplugging them isn’t easy. I need an easier solution, like the Sonos working every time without intervention. Looking for help from the community as I sit on hold with Sonos support.
My husband and I have been happy Sonos users since the early days of ZoneBridges and ZonePlayers. But suddenly, two days ago, our playback from Amazon Music Unlimited has become unusable. Songs are starting and then stopping and skipped. It eventually starts the next song in the queue or station, but the issue continues. A quick Google shows that this is an issue for many.I have checked all my connections (wired to my One and Amp) and everything is normal. My internet is stable and fast. I rebooted every device. I deauthorized and reauthorize Amazon Music in the Sonos app, but no improvement. As a test, I signed up for a trial of Spotify and it works flawlessly as does a streaming radio station we also listen to. And Amazon Music plays just fine if we stream from our phones to a separate Bluetooth speaker. This issue seems to be Amazon specific using Sonos.Has anyone determined what is going on and what a solution is? I hate to have to tell Jeff Bezos that he will soon be losi
This post applies mainly to ASUS routers that incorporate AiMesh setup; but may be applicable to other brands. I have three (3) Asus ZenWiFi Pro ET12 WiFi 6 routers configured in AiMesh via wired backhaul.I’ve seen posts indicating that WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 routers lend connectivity issues with Sonos. It’s been recommended to disable the WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 bands. As you can see from the screenshot below I have all three (3) bands active. I have WiFi 6 Apple products that use the WiFi 6 GHz including this iPad Pro 13 inch I’m currently using to pen this post. I have devices (cameras, Alexa & Google, TV’s, Apple TV’s, washer & dryer, dishwasher, microwave, lights_ Phillips Hue & Wiz, security system, Android tablet, Apple cell phones, tablets & computers, HVAC system and 31 Sonos products) that use 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and as mentioned the 6Ghz band. The difference that allows my network to have consistent connectivity for all my devices is as follows:Asus Smart Connect is disabled Al
Sonos app ask me to check for update - but update stops every time with the message “Sonos update failed. An unexpected failure appeared” (or something like this..)I have deleted/uninstalled the app on Macbook several times, and downloaded new 16.5 version on www.sonos.com.Same problem each time…Anyone have a solution?Terry :-)Norway
I have a Sonos Connect box with S2 apps, on Windows, Android and iOS. Music library is on a QNAP NAS, but cannot be added anymore. Library has always worked fine, but with upgrade to S2 we had to remove the connection, now it cannot be added again. No matter what we try, and believe me, I have tried everything I could find on the Internet, it keeps on giving me an error 1002. Firewalls are OK (Norton Antivirus at Windows), systems are set to SMBV2-3, shared folder permissions are OK for all involved users ...Is this just another issue that belongs to the “S2” disaster upgrade, and if so, when could we expect a solution for this ?Any idea, tip, hint, things to consider would be greatly appreciated …PS: shared folders on my Windows computer can be added, but the big library is at our NAS ...
Does anyone know how to set an alarm to play a track on loop from the local library? I have a track of rain sounds that I’d like to play at the same time each night, I can accomplish this manually but am trying to automate this and I am losing my mind here. The alarms are buried in a secret location in the app, and even after finding them, there is no way to select a track from the local library. The search function when set to local library finds nothing. I also still receive phone notifications for deleted alarms, what in the world?
As the caption reads, I have an issue with the Google assistant making the volume go to the max setting despite what I tell it. For example: if I say “Hey Google set the volume to 9%” the volume will be set to 100 and then I have to scramble for a remote so I can lower the volume quickly. Despite the volume level I set the Sonos to via the Google Assistant, it’ll always set it to 100%. I’ve removed and re-added the Google Assistant and that fix only works for 1-2 days. It’s really irritating that this is going on and it’s incredibly inconvenient as well. Makes me want to throw away the entire Sonos setup I have and go with a comparable setup from Bose. Sonos….get it together already.
Hello, We currently have an Arc SL, a sub (gen2), and 2-era 300’s.We recently purchased a Panasonic Dp-UB820 blue ray player. We also have a Samsung 7 series tv with an e-arc hdmi port. When playing Atmos movies, everything is fine. However, playing anything else, the disk menu shows up as Dolby Digital 5.1. As soon as the movie starts, the app switches to Stereo PCM and the sound changes. I’ve read so many forums, I’ve updated cables, powered down components, and set everything I could set. I have the Tv set to:Sound Output-Receiver (hdmi-eARC), under Expert Settings, I have HDMI-eARC mode set to Auto, Digital output set to pass-through and Dolby Atmos compatibility turned on. On the Panasonic, I have the following:HDMI-video+video output mode (nothing else is hooked up to the player). I have tried toggling the digital audio outputs on dts/dts-hd to pcm or bitstream with no change Dolby audio is set to bitstream though I’ve tried toggling options here as well. secondary
Good afternoon, I have a Beam gen2 bar and two era 300, I am somewhat disappointed because I have to lower and raise the volume depending on whether there is dialogue in the movie or if there is music or sounds, I don't know if this is normal because it is very annoying to have to be with the controller in your hand to decrease or increase the volume.
After several talks with tech support and browsing through all the highly technical and confusing messages on here, I could not get my Sony turntable to play with my older generation Sonos system. I have a One, a Move, and a soundbar, and didn’t want to replace those. Returned the Sony turntable, got the Victrola Stream Onyx on sale for $399 and in FIVE MINUTES I had the turntable setup and playing through my existing system. It sounds beautiful. If you are struggling to play vinyl on your existing system, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Victrola Stream!! Wish I’d just started out with it and wanted to share what I learned the hard way.
I have error 1002 when trying to add a music libary to sonos app, Via Windows PCIs this still not working / available? Cheers matt
I now have sometime to update and resolve Sonos product connectivity and performance issues. To date the Arc model S19 has been the main TV speaker but the paired SL1 as surround speakers dropped out of the network sometime ago. Plus I am introducing a Sub3. So in the last 10 frustrating hours I have performed factory resets on every device multiple times. Variously the Sonos App running on an iPhone16 will discover some but not all of the devices individually. But it doesn’t do this consistently to allow me to complete my system or living room setup. Currently I have two systems visible Sonos1 with the Arc in it and another system with the x2 SL’s in it (god alone knows how) I have found no way to delete the Sonos1 system in the hope that a further cycle of product discovery will allow all devices to be added to the Singular system and single room I want to retain. What the Holly FK…. Is going on, I work in IT, I’m am not a technician but I have decades of experience in the sector; ye
Sonos audio quality is amazing but useless as it never works as it should. Literal garbage. Save your money. Buy something else
Hi all,I recently purchased an Arc Ultra and Sub 4. I'd like to get 2 rear surrounds but I don't think the layout of my room is ideal. Please see the pictures of the room below. We don't want to put the speakers on stands behind the couch.I was previously considering 2 Era 300s to mount on the wall but I read you don't want to mount them close to ceiling and I don't think we want to mount them in the middle of the wall height wise.As such, would love your thoughts on: Do you have any suggestions on best set up? If I mounted Era 100s in a location close to the ceiling like where you see the previous mounts in the photo (from old wired system) would that work? If no Sonos setup works well would it be better to purchase non Sonos rear speakers and connect them via amp? We have wiring in the walls already from prior system. Thanks for the help!
Took it all to the dump today— three speakers, bridge, amp… used to work fine then after one year of app updates and failure to connect I pulled the plug. A systemAbsolutely so primitive. Spent way too much money on Sonos, but can’t take it snymore! Bye Bye ! YS Sonos!
I recently bought a new tv that does not have the audio optical cable port on the back. Is there an adapter that allows me to still connect my Sonos Ray to this new tv? Thanks for any help.
Hello Sonos CommunityI contacted Sonos again this morning to see whether the problem with voice control is now working. It is not.My issue is that I have an LTE Router via 3 Network. My SONOS 1 (GEN 2) worked perfectly with Alexa for 2 years until the new Sonos software was launched last year.I tried everything with SONOS support back in the summer, even managing to get to 2nd level but all to no avail. Can anyone in the community shed any light on this problem please. We used voice control all the time, it’s a pain to have to use your phone. SONOS are supposed to working on a solution but 78 months on, no news.I wouldn’t mind using Sonos Voice Control - anything, but i believe it’s the same issue.I would love to hear any views or maybe even a workaround! Thanks :-)
