Troubleshoot, tune and get the most out of your system

Having just upgraded to the new app, I’m utterly amazed at how poor it is from a user perspective. There is no longer a volume number indication You cannot edit queues You cannot add single songs to a queue as ‘play next’ or ‘add to end’ You cannot create or edit any alarmsHow did this get through any UAT? These are basic features every Sonos user has enjoyed for years.Absolutely ridiculous, please add this functionality back ASAP.
I would just like to point out that since the latest update when viewing ‘Albums’ in my Music Library, albums that consist of multiple artists (e.g. compilations) appear multiple times. A compilation of tracks by 20 different artists appears 20 times in the ‘Album’ view.
Heads up, fam, it appears that today’s v16.3 firmware update blocks the v16.1 app with the dreaded “update required”. Seems that is the reason for the coincident release of the v16.3 desktop apps.Ouch.Those unlucky enough to confirm, kindly do so. Other folks using v16.1 consider holding off on the firmware update and monitoring the forums.
Sonos is super successful at making the worlds, most unfriendly and most frustrating app. I wonder if it was designed by five-year-olds with no thumbs. whoever designed the interface should be fired, and they should hire some kids from the local high school to build a much better version or revert back to previous app.
Not only does this update remove TuneIn (Classic) (though this could have been a few versions ago, I wasn’t paying attention), now it also deletes any Radio Stations you had previously saved. Until the latest update the stations were still stored in the system, but no more.Ironically I was just trying to submit an app update to the App Store to allow playback of these TuneIn-saved stations. Well, that’s not happening now as the stations are gone.
Thank U Sonos for this horrific update i was planning a big party with family and friends for my daughter’s wedding thanks to the upgrade everything went wrong lost a whole day trying to fix Sonos system problems, been asked many times to repeat system upgrade, finally it worked with Spotify app directly The last version was just fine. Why changing for something so much worse?
With the new released Sonos App the progress of podcasts are not synced back to pocket casts. With the old Sonos app it worked.
My library has always been on a NAS which works well. I decided to try adding a share from an external drive on my Windows PC. I used a thumb drive with one album on it with the folder structure “H /My Music /Classical/Berlioz/Symphonie Fantatique. Then in the My Music folder Properties I put Sonos in the share list. Using the Sonos PC app I added the H: My Music folder by browsing for it using the option “Add music from an external drive attached to your computer” (paraphrased). After it indexed, which took forever, I found that it indexed the My Music folder on the PC, not the My Music folder on the H: external drive. The path of the share was H:\My Music although the slashes were back slashes as opposed to forward slashes as used for the NAS share. So why would Sonos not read the path literally and instead index the My Music folder on the PC? My NAS share + the My Music PC share was too much for the index process. If the index had only taken the single album on H: drive the
The previous versions haven’t been amazing at this. But since the last update, the app is incredibly slow at showing the current status of the system. For example, showing the current track playing when it’s been changed. Is it now routing differently?
Hi. The new app does not work properly on my Android phone. When I try to open the app, all I get is a black page, a white page or a black page with the Sonos logos with both S’s cut off. The app will just hang in this state for hours. I have tried restarting my phone, re-installing the app, and opening the app from the “app info” page. Anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Thanks.
Grouping rooms just doesn’t work. It adds rooms you’ve not selected (not great when that speaker is in the bedroom and the wife is trying to sleep). Removing speakers from a group just causes the app to hang and takes several attempts. Frequently skips songs or returns to beginning of playlist (especially when adding or removing speakers). Seems to have removed the existence of my Sonos Boost and I have no idea how to get this back, this is causing additional connectivity issues that the Boost had previously solved. Constantly seems to default to playlists being on a loop, I don’t want this to be the defaultI am sure there are many many others bugs I have not yet unearthed, but this is a very bad update, please provide the opportunity to roll-back until you have fixed these errors. Sonos is not cheap and the ability to group/ ungroup sets of speakers with ease should be the bare minimum for the user experience. Such a shame, the reputational damage caused by rushing this through can’t
FWIW, here’s a tip for those whose Sonos app (iOS) does not see their music library. This has been the case for me since the original app overhaul. My very large music library is stored on the D: drive of my desktop PC. The workaround for me is to stream something — anything — from the app and then the “Your Sources” header suddenly reappears (where previously only “Your Services” was visible) and my library with it. It’s galling to have to do it this way but better than nothing. I realise that it might be because my PC could still be using SMBv1. However, the app is such a dumpster-fire that for the time being I am going to stick with this workaround rather than experiment further. I hope this helps anyone who has had problems getting the app to recognise their stored media.
I cannot seem to connect to Apple Music.
sub mini will not register and also will not show on my system page, HELP!! i am thinking of taking it back to the store, i have spent so much time on this , i have a beam gen 2 as well.I expected a lot better from such expensive items.
I’ll admit I have some older units. But ran audio to the Line in on my connect in the basement to play down there and it immediately started playing on my playbar upstairs interrupting the tv audio. Eventually got it all separated but not for more than 5 minutes and it switched again. Combo of older equipment and new app?
The girl at support told me the app is not up to date that why I can’t connect my move 2 whit my phone or iPad
I have 5 Sonos speakers… a Sonos ARC and 4 Sonos ONEs. Everything has been fine the last few years with minimal problems. The other morning I woke and the system couldn’t be found and it wouldn’t connect through basic troubleshooting steps.I factory reset the speakers after the app said it cannot connect and they still wouldn’t connect. No changes have been made to my modem and router and this has been confirmed with my provider.I contacted Sonos support, and after waiting 35 minutes and talking for that also, all they did was run through everything I told them I already did. Then, 5 hours later in the evening the system miraculously just shows up. I didn’t do anything. That lasted for less than a day, now my 4 Sonos ONEs cannot connect yet the ARC is fine. Again all troubleshooting steps have been followed. This seems to be so glitchy ever since the new app version came through. Never had any serious problems with the older version. I’m about done with these speakers at this point. P
Is anyone having issues with playing ANYTHING on any sonos product? Mine won't even play the radio stations today.
Feature request (which was present on previous app) to add a song to a Deezer playlist from the Sonos app. Also to search the Alblum of song that is playing on deezer through the Sonos app.
Sonos was a trusted brand. Management needs to acknowledge the issues in the recent app update and publish a roadmap and timeline to fix them, and soon. The May 2024 update makes our speakers and entire system completely useless. As an exhausted mom who can’t replay “Old MacDonald ” for the 10x for her demanding toddler due to Sonos’ HORRIBLE app update bugging out the entire system - PLEASE FIX THE APP. I’m exhausted and it’s 92% Sonos’ fault.
Today I tried:to play some music to my Beam via AirPlay but the operation failed to listen to a Sonos Radio station but the station wouldn’t loadto play some music on my Roam but the app kept saying the roam was powered down to switch on voice enhancer via the app but I can’t find where it is anymoreto activate Sonos voice assistant but the operation failed what the hell is going on ? ? im sure someone will tell me to power down every component and reboot my router and then power everything back up, and do the same with me phone blah blah is this what it’s come to?
I love my Sonos system. When my Bose bluetooth speaker hit EOL I opted for a Roam loving the idea that I could link it to my existing system but also take it anywhere with me. And it does work great at both. My only criticism is that it’s a power hog. I took it on my recent 5 day camping trip & was able to use it for campfire music the first night. The next day I used my portable power bank to charge it. This power bank should’ve been able to charge my iPhone 15 4 times. After charging my iphone once, the Roam sucked up the remainder of the power bank leaving me unable to charge anything else. We ended up using my friend’s cheap bluetooth speaker for most of the trip as it lasted just as long (didn’t actually time it & alcohol was consumed so don’t hold me to that lol) & was easier to recharge. I ended running my car for 30min to recharge my iPhone & power bank. I ordered a small portable solar panel for charging on Prime Days to hopefully help keep it charged next trip
have a play 1 and play 5 connected by wifi for years. recently sonos app reports no speakers are connected. leaving the play 1 untouched, i connected the 5 via ethernet and it worked as did the 1 still on wifi. by disconnecting the ethernet cable from the 5, the wifi connection on the 1 was lost. how do we get both of these back on wifi?,
Sonos: horrible customer service Sonos: horrible technical supportSonos: horrible product Sonos: horrible appDo not recommend
I’m posting this in hopes of saving someone else from the hours of frustration I’ve endured to resolve this issue. From the time I set-up my Arc + Sub + Surrounds system in July with an Asus RT-AC88U router (connected to Fios Gigabit internet) it has worked without issue. I’ve used Asus Smart Connect with all settings at default. No problems with the S2 app and no problems when I upgraded to an iPhone 12, other than the loss of Trueplay support, which continues to be a problem. (HELLO Sonos! Anyone home?)Then I recently upgraded to the RT-AX86U using same Smart Connect default settings and, initially, all seemed fine. But soon the dropped connections started. I’d reboot and the Sonos system would connect for 10-30 minutes, then lose wifi connection again. Meanwhile, all other wifi devices in my home worked just fine--the Sonos was the only problem child. I did all the troubleshooting I could, then called into Sonos support and spent almost 2 hours with a tech rep trying every potential
