Troubleshoot, tune and get the most out of your system

With the new app update, I can no longer access my TV or Music Library. A few days ago, when the new app was made live, it was terrible, but at least I could get sound on my TV and access my exiting music library (although I couldn't add to it or search content). But today, my TV and my Music Library sources are no longer available. If I can't connect to my TV surround system, I have no volume on my TV. What is going on? This is getting worse and worse. I tried the chat, and it said no one was available and I should call. I called, and I was told there is an estimated 80 minute wait. What is going on? How do I get my functionality back?
I just installed the new Sonos app. After doing so, all but 2 of my playlists have disappeared? Specifically, if I selected Sonos Favorites, then Playlists View All, only 2 playlist are showing . . . countless are MIA.I sure hope there are instructions for resurrecting my playlist.
It just started happening that the volume in my speakers (11) are turning off and I have to return the volume to the previous level. Seems to be a glitch with the new app update. I never had this issue in the 9 years I've had Sonos.
I recently updated the app, as well as all of my software for the speakers in my house. Ever since then, my speakers will randomly reset the volume to 0 multiple times throughout the day, which then causes them to display a green light on top of the speaker. Is this happening to anyone else? Super annoying, especially in the middle of the night when the white noise in my kids room turns off and wakes them up. Need this fixed asap.
Many usersⵜ are reporting extremely high battery drain on this week’s version of both the iOS and Android apps (v80.05.04 and v80.05.06, respectively). Using the iOS/Android battery tracking dashboards, users are reporting 30-50% battery drain‡ from the Sonos app over a 24-hour period. At the risk of stating the obvious, the battery drain occurs with the Sonos app in the background. Disabling background app refresh doesn’t improve things. Fully exiting the Sonos app is required.Purely out of curiosity, I plan to monitor Wi-Fi traffic from the app to see if this version of the app is continuously polling the device firmware. Anyone who beats me to such measurements—yay! —by all means let us know what you find. ⵜ Likely not all users, particulars TBD‡ Figures reported for phones; tablets have dramatically larger batteries so drain is a smaller percentage
A quand la correction du fonctionnement de l’alarme qui ne fonctionne plus depuis la livraison de la nouvelle version à cause du nouveau casque ! Moderator edit:Google Translate-When will the alarm operation be corrected, as it no longer works since the delivery of the new version because of the new headset!
My AMP is trying to update (I think - the white light is blinking) but never finishes. Then I must unplug the power and plug it in again after a while, then it sometimes work again. But the whole show starts again after a few days. What can I do?
I have invested a lot of money in an extensive Sonos system. For that last 8 years with the old app. it was fine. Easy to control, responsive and dependable. This new app. is extremely frustrating, it’s slow and unresponsive. A complete disaster. I would advise anyone NOT to download this new app. and at present NOT to invest in a Sonos product. Basic things like adjusting the volume is now painful and almost impossible. The pause button rarely works, it’s often impossible to turn off the music. This is just the start of a long list of problems. Sonos do not appear to appreciate the damage they have done to their brand. How can they release an app. that is so obviously flawed? How can they not read the room and see that ALL their customers are turning against them? Why can’t they just offer the old app. for download so that their customers can actually use their system.I would say that releasing this new app. before it was properly tested amounts to gross negligence and incompeten
The new app is still crap.. Takes 10/15mins to change volume in different rooms./change choose songs.. Great speakers but we have absolutely no control of them.. without the app... I will never spend a single cent, dollar or Franc or euro and another Sonos product as They have proved they want to control you.. When I want to play a song I will just do it.. I had my reservations from the get go but was convinced to relax.. I was 100% right from the start.. When you allow others to have control over your system with no back door control your truly * !! Is there any issue with the Sonos app for users using iPhone 15 Pro with iOS version 17.4.1? The phone can't seem to find the system, whereas the iPad works fine and detects the system. Is this a problem with the app or the iOS version 17.4.1?
I’ve read AV Forum posts about “Works with Sonos” doesn’t work when a Sonos network reaches 6 devices. In effect, if a customer has architectural speakers as surrounds in multiple locations in their residence, having a like number of Sonos Ports along with Sonos Speakers (Arc, Beam, Era 300s, Subs) , any number of devices 6 or greater creates “No Longer Works with Sonos”.As there are multiple AVR vendors who have “Works with Sonos” certification, are they all affected by this issue? Technically, what is the issue? Is it a Sonos/App/Networking issue? Is it an AVR vendor issue? Is Sonos working with these AVR vendors to resolve?
Move 2 speakers cannot register to your system or receive software updates wirelessly via Bluetooth in the way that all Sonos speakers with power cords can. However, They can be registered and updated if they are connected to the internet using a hard wire adapter as follows:Purchase (or ask Sonos to send you free of charge) a Sonos “ethernet to USB – C” adapter. (This adapter is available on the Sonos website for $39.) Plug the USB – C connector of the andapter into the small opening near the bottom of the rear of the speaker. Plug the ethernet connector of the adapter into an open port of your modem/router. Follow instructions on the Sonos app to “add a new speaker.” With the speaker now, having hardwired direct access to the Internet, it will automatically receive updates and be able to register itself to your system. Enjoy music wherever you place the speakers in range of your Wi-Fi!StephenMB
Does anyone know why my tuner radio doesn't work anymore? I want to listen to radio stations from different countries, it hasn't been working for some time. since they made an update to the system, you can no longer listen to streams, it always says that something is wrong. it seems to me that it is working, but in reality nothing is heard. since then I regret that I opted for sonos
After spending many hundreds of pounds on this system , only to find that even the basic functionality of my system doesn't work, I am forced to question how Sonos is getting away with it. No offers of recompense, no fixes, no resolve. Just excuse after excuse. What's going on Sonos?Stop sending automatic replies every time someone complain, and stand up and take responsibility. Shame on you !!!!
I cannot add speakers or play at I sign out and back in and still cannot add. Just keep getting the prompt to dign out and back in
After years of flawless performance, my SONOS system is presently unusable. Some member of Mensa decided to do some “updates”. Not impressed, regardless of “CEO” announcements. SONOS no longer recognizes half my products, wont play more than one song. This system is about to go into a garage sale or garbage minus my MOVE and ROAM that will at least still play over bluetooth.
As I understand it, the Ace can only be connected to my Sonos system through a soundbar. While I have a Ray soundbar that may eventually be supported, this isn't useful to me. I need the Ace to be connectable as if it were just another Sonos speaker. Until then, no sale!
The volume sliders in new app require a very precise touch on the small ‘dot’ before you are able to ‘slide’ the volume. Yes, you can tap volume up/down.Could an additional alternative approach be taken, like Apple Music, where you can slide the volume by touching anywhere on the volume slider, and sliding left/right, ie using a less precise approach?
Since the launch of the new app, my husband and I cannot both use our app in our home at the same time. Whoever launches it is the only one that can adjust sound or selection and that’s super frustrating. Also, it continually defaults to a speaker we rarely use, and no matter how many times we select the correct speakers it keeps moving to other speakers. Again super frustrating.
That is it, that is all. Should have spent it on BOSE!!!!!
I lost access to my music library (on my Mac Mini) after 7pm tonight - it appeared to coincide with an update on our MacBook (that I couldn’t avoid).I have now lost access to my Music Library on both my S1 and S2 products - anyone know why that might be?These are the messages I get:S1‘// Jamess-Mac-Mini/Music’ is no longer available. The device where the music files are stored may not be powered on, or the path my have changed.Go to settings>System>Music Library>Music Library Setup to check the path. The only options I get are to add/delete a music libraryS2Sonos was unable to add the music folderUnable to add the shared folder “James-Mac-mini/Music” to your Music Library (913)As I said, all was working until around 7pm tonight, then everything stopped. So disappointed.
Hi there community. So recently I bought the arc, sub mini and two era 300 speakers. I was wondering about the following two: -Did I place the era 300s in the best way possible for my room? They are facing forward and not in an angle towards the seating position which is in the middle of the couch. Not sure if I should turn them inwards towards the seating area.-When I sit in the middle of the couch, often I realize that the right speaker is somehow louder than the left one. Support did analyse a diagnostics report but couldn’t find anything. My theory is that it’s because it’s next to the window, sounds bounces back. Trueplay tuning on/off doesn’t matter. I have the surround sound in the app set to 8. Any tips for this? The speakers are far enough from the wall behind and also the sides have enough room according to what is advised in the manual, so that’s not it :) -any tips for wall mounting is also welcome :) Check out the pics of my room :)
I just upgraded from my old Sonos 1. Generation (from maybe 15 years ago?) and bought a couple of Move 2’s and a Move. Installed the new version of Sonos and everything works EXCEPT when I try to play from Apple Music. I have authorized Apple Music to play in Sonos. I see the music I want to play on AM. I select a song. It either scrolls step by step through the entire album, playing nothing OR if I select a particular song, it seems to play for about one second and then it stops and the play button shows again. I used Sonos with Apple Music in the past with my old system, never had this problem. I tried removing and re-adding AM as a service, still the same useless behavior. I have no idea how to fix this. Spotify and Sonos Radio working fine.
Background: iMac using macOS Sonoma 14.5; Sonos Controller for Mac Version 16.2, Sonos OS S2, Build 79052294; Play 1 Sonos OS S2, Version 16.2 (build 79052294), Hardware Version 1.8.3-1.0There have been a lot of helpful posts for Mac users with work arounds to access their local music library once it disappeared after updating to the new app. Some people had success - others didn't including me. I’ve tried all the suggestions several times with no joy. To date (27 May 2024) I haven’t found anything other than a statement from Sonos that they plan on having this issued resolved by mid-June. Am I missing something?Radley
Sigh,Is it safe to upgrade the Sonos Controller for Mac?I am using Version 16.1, Sonos S2, Build 78151030 that stills gives me access to editable Queues and local Music Library control. But I fear that any false move will jettison those abilities?Would it be asking too much to ask for a list of changes you will be implementing on each successive Update now that we have had a taste of your surprises? Thanks,David
