I have an outdoor/patio TV setup. Wondering the best way to arrange this system. Someone suggested the SONOS outdoor speaker set for my patio TV setup paired with a AMP. I was about to purchase and realized I have TWO first Gen/Older AMPS in my closet that I replaced with the newer (gen 2) ones to use in my house. My patio is positioned in a way that WiFi simply isn't possible. I have power out there but you have to walk probably 50 feet past other units to get to my private patio. Theres no outets to run extenders and its much to far. So lets just assume NO wifi. To watch movies I connect my TV to my wireless hotspot on phone and stream (works great) I live in a very noisy area (city) next to an airport - so its Noisy. I need pretty loud system TV is a pretty basic TCL I got on Amazon (I didn’t want to spend big bucks for something I was leaving outside). TV has a waterproof cover. If I set up a system with an AMP I’d need to likely install the AMP in my shed. So was really hoping f
HD and 4k video streaming of live music is becoming standard across many platforms (Nugs.net, LivePhish, etc) and leveraging ERA 300s (or similar) forward facing tweeters should be made available to allow users to take advantage of their full potential. I've spent hours searching q&as on support and community, upgrading, downgrading (or failing to), playing with s1 and s2 app, web page, factory resets, adding, checking permissions on NAS and yes SMB2 (whatever that is) and am going round in circles, speakers all have permissions ok on router and network drive.I tried to downgrade product to S1 but when I factory reset and then try to downgrade it requires me to set up the network again which then adds the speaker back as it cannot connect to to do the downgrade and then am back to square 1. Is it actually possible to play my own music from a NAS on latest software? Is it possible any other way? And idiots guide needed.Or do I just accept that 5 speakers are not fit for purpose after the so called upgrade and find a new system?
I was posting on another thread, and the topic came up with regard to 2.4GHz WiFi and possible Microwave interference. I was curious.I have never tested this before, but came up with a simple stress test experiment, to help me understand impact of ‘Cooking with Sonos’I have an Amp in Kitchen that has a microwave in between the AP and Amp. Amps use 2.4Ghz WiFi, so ideal for a test.I started an Apple Lossless stream 3Mbs to the Kitchen Amp, and grouped 4 other rooms also on 2.4GHz, spread across 2 APs. I could see 3Mb/s down to Amp and backup up to other zones. I then ran a ping to the Kitchen Amp to get a baseline for packet loss: Baseline - Streaming Apple Lossless with group coordinator connected on 2.4GHz WiFi - no music dropouts - no ping packet loss Packets: Sent = 176, Received = 176, Lost = 0 (0% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 33ms, Average = 3ms I then put a cold cup of water in microwave for 1 minute on full power 900W -
I’ve been having to do this recently and was thinking I’d post instructions but Corry P posted this which is what you need to know.
Hi @Corry P, I would request an option to have SonosNet disabled when connecting speaker(s) to Ethernet without the need to turn off its WiFi.This way I could avoid STP issues with my router/network and, at the same time, allow a soundbar to connect directly to its surrounds.
Hi,I have set up 2 Sonos FIVE speakers as a stereo pair in my living room but felt that the sounds was coming too much from one side of the room (the wall against which the 2 FIVE speakers are) so I decided to add a 3rd speaker and bought a sonos ERA 300 that I place on the opposite wall facing the 2 Sonos FIVE, so it’s a triangle.I wanted to add the ERA 300 to the “Living room” in the app so that the 3 speakers would be grouped and synced but it seems that I cannot do this… probably because the 2 FIVEs are in a stereo pair? I can always select “Living room” + “Living room 2” (the name I’ve given to the ERA 300) to play music on the 3 speakers but I cannot do a Trueplay tuning for the 3 speakers…So here are my questions:Is there a way to add the ERA 300 to the stereo pair? Would the sound be better if I un-paired the 2 FIVEs and grouped the 3 speakers together (2 FIVEs and 1 ERA 300) instead so I could do Trueplay? Would it be better to get a 3rd FIVE instead of ERA 300 so the 3 speake
I have wifi at home with sonos configured. I have new speakers at my office, so i need to add another wifi to use office speakers. Buggered if i can add another wifi to my account.any help, thanks
Why wasn’t this beta tested? If it was, it was poorly tested. When a hardware product is beta tested, it is released with 99% of the bugs worked out. With this software update, it seems like nothing was tested. And no, I will not buy or recommend Sonos to anyone again. This is a complete failure on the part of Sonos. I am obviously very saddened, frustrated and upset with this update or really lack of. I haven’t been able to use my Sonos Threes in my office using a library for more than 8 months! I am an android user and switched to S2 and then boom, no music library. Next, I enrolled in Apple Music since I was told that would work. So now I am an Android user with Apple Music that still does not work. Before you introduce additional items such as a sleep timer, maybe Sonos should fix things like a library, so that I can listen to my 1000s of songs.
Where to start. I miss the old app. Is there a major update in the works or is the current version what will be ? The current version is unfriendly.
My Sonos speakers are not being recognized by the app. I've tried reconnecting them, but it cannot locate my product. How do I do this? I've had the same speakers for the last two years and this is the first time I've had this issue.
I suffered the app update which was in May and it’s now close to September and no update. So my questions are, when do we see the app being fixed and able to access our connected NAS drives again? My second question relates to the Sonos roam and S5 v2. I was bought a roam for my birthday then decided to upgrade my S5 to a v2, at the time I could play vinyl from my Bluetooth turntable to my Sonos roam and then pair it with the new S5, I did check this with Sonos who confirmed this was possible and it was, since the update that’s also broken. So can I get a reply to my questions please, as I think I have been patient for the last few months with Sonos, but having not see any further emails bar the apology I am wondering if it’s being fixed.
I just spent hours, after discovering the music library capability has returned to the app, re-adding my music library on a synology NAS back to sonos. The whole process was hindered by a lack of proper instructions or error messages in the app. Let me save folks a lot of pain and give them the details:Go into your NAS and make sure SMB is enabled. Also, make sure SMB 1 is turned off and 2 and/or 3 are on. I found that even if 2-3 were on, if SMB 1 was still possible it mucked things up. Go into advanced SMB and see if you can enable master browsing. This seemed to help sonos find the files I have music in later. Do not try to add your music library from the app on an iphone or ipad. It is too hard, and does not let you browse to the files. You need to key them in by hand, which is really irritating. Go into your PC (or MAC and do it there). Go into the add music library function. Use the browse function to find the music directory on the NAS you want to add. Note, if SMB 1 is active
Why are these icons disabled and how do I get rid of them?
Why do I need to install the Apple Music app on my iPad to authorize Apple Music in the Sonos app? After uninstalling AM from my iPad, AM on Sonos stops working, and after removing AM from Sonos, it cannot be reauthorized.Ipad Pro 24 controller, 2xEra 300 speakers, all connected to the Internet via Ethernet.
Hey… I was looking for another headphone stand for my new Sonos Ace. The one I already have is occupied by my Dali IO4 headphones. That stand is a „just mobile“ one and I really like it for the Dali, but for Ace… hmm… never thought a stand could look such different with other headphones. So I started to look around on the net and after two hours I was completely gaga. 😂There‘s a lot of low budget plastic to be found or some really expensive overkill stuff. After all I was happy to find a stand at our local second hand market (in Germany we call it „Flohmarkt“) for 10€ that was like new. With Google lens I found out it probably came from AliExpress and is 25€ new. Full of metal with a silikon top and really well crafted. So I‘m curious what you think about storing Ace and how your solutions look like. 😎I‘m starting with some photos showing Ace on the two stands I mentioned above.
Like many affected users, I lost a lot of functionality with the release of the ‘new improved’ app on iOS, including local music library search. This did reappear with a recent update but has now, sadly disappeared once more. Has anyone else experienced this? Has this function been removed again, or is this a fault. Any ideas on how to reinstate local music library search?
The Ring Doorbell announces on the Roam & Roam 2 and Alexa enabled TV but I cannot get the announcement on the Sonos One. I have reset the SONOS One and ensured that it’s connected to the associated Alexa account. Has anyone experienced the same or similar issue and resolved it. If so how did you?
Is Sonos doing anything to fix the issues with the bad update? I'm still having nothing but problems with it not recognizing the network to playing music from any provider due to it not even loading to my screen and if I can play anything there are volume issues with multiple speakers.
Dear Patrick Spence,Your Sonos products are crap.I did some research to find the best Bluetooth speaker, for my needs, so I purchased a Sonos Roam, bad decision. My Sonos music library is loaded onto my computer and I used to play my songs from that. As that's where I store my music. It used to be good up until the May update…………. then things got crap, but hey lets get a two year old to write the code, or even better get the opposition to write it.Now in order to have a Sonos product you must have a mobile phone to set it up, now nothing is connected to my speaker, either by phone or computer. But I can connect to the Sonos Tune In…………...Yesterday is was connected after about 45 minutes to Sonos via “Chat” he did nothing but it magically connected, but yesterday afternoon it connected multiple times, I tried again last night and again today but you guessed it, not connecting. It seems that it only connects when you wait for ages on the Sonos help line and have their “ Help Desk” do noth
Multiple speakers are unusable and won’t play.volume bar shows nothing
I have a Sonos one speaker directly plugged into my router via Cat 5 Ethernet cable. The speaker is about 100 feet away from my router. But is hard wired in. Sometimes my speaker will play all day long, sometimes the speaker will play for 30 seconds. The Ethernet cable is good. I have done a factory reset in the speaker. Why do I have so much trouble using this speaker? Do I need to set it up as a group? I have had issues with this forever now and can’t seem to figure out what the issue is. Please help!!
My Roam keeps dropping out of the group when playing with my other Sonos products in my system/network.
I have three different Sonos setups at different locations that used to work with just one phone and one app - and the old app would automatically switch between the different systems. The new app broke this. The new app appears to no longer support multiple physically separate Sonos systems on separate networks that are all linked to the same user ID/controller.I tried to reset the devices at my office and re-add them, but that made matters worse. I now get “there was a problem linking ... to your account” and the speakers appear to be just bricks. Even after a total reset, I cannot re-add the speakers at all. This may be the most incompetent consumer technology company in the history of mankind.
I’m trying to let each of my children play Spotify content on their own Sonos speaker via voice control, without taking over or interrupting each other’s sessions. It’s not working and it’s driving everyone crazy. Here’s the current setup. Anyone see what I’m doing wrong? Spotify Premium Family with individual accounts for each family member (5) Sonos Roam for each child’s room (3) Each child has their own iPad with the Sonos app installed. Each instance of the app is signed in to my Sonos account that has all speakers added to the system. Sonos Voice Control has been added for each child’s speaker The child’s Spotify account has been selected within their instance of Sonos app Each child’s iPad has the Spotify app, signed in to their account (full Spotify - not Spotify Kids) Concurrent playback DOES work when each child starts a session from the Spotify app and selects their speaker. It DOES NOT work when starting a session from the Sonos app. Whatever was last played will shows up in
