Controllers and Music services

I went to use the Sonos app this evening and was prompted to check for updates. I was directed to the app store which didn't identify that I wasn't using the latest version, so my only option was to 'Open' rather than 'Get' the latest version. This sent me back to the update screen which has left me in an infinite loop of checking for updates only for no update to be found. Any suggestions? Currently running the new (and awful) 8.0 on an iphone 5s running ios 10.3.3. Trying to connect to a Sonos Play 1. Thanks

Hi all, I've recently moved to an iPhone X (from an iPhone 7), and noticed that I can no longer adjust the volume of the Sonos app using the iPhone volume buttons. On the iPhone 7, I was able to pickup the phone, and with out unlocking it, just adjust the playback volume by pressing the volume buttons on the side of the phone. Now, I have to unlock the phone and actually use the slider volume of the app itself. Even if the phone is unlocked and the Sonos app in the foreground, the volume buttons no longer seem to impact the Sonos volume playback. Does anyone else see the same behaviour. Perhaps I just need to tweak a iPhone X settings somewhere. Cheers, Rob

Received a Sonos Play:1. Looked into, can't use it. It's proprietary bs. Tried setting up but just get blinking amber light, factory resets, try again, try again... Don't have WiFi except for using Win 10 as a hotspot (PC hardwired to LAN)... One second my PC will 'see' it, then goes to amber, and fails to connect. In any case, I would like my account deactivated and removed from any mailing lists. And is my name attached to the device, somehow? If so, can this be removed, as well? I plan to give the device away. Also, constructive feedback, when the desktop app fails to connect, rather than making it impossible to exit the application short of killing the process via TM, maybe a exit button that actually works, or something like that, would be nice, rather than trying to force the user to continuously beat their head against a wall, with a 'Try again' button, and non functioning 'x', top right corner. Thank you.

Can I group one unit Sonos Play 1 with one unit Sonos One together in a bedroom and play ANY sound from the IPad and IPhone ? Example, watch any nonYoutube and non Netflix video ?

I have an existing play 1 that I want to Group with a new Sonos One. The purpose is to use the Airplay2 support on Sonos One to watch ALL video sources (youtube, Netflix, others) via IPad and iPhone. But without using Alexa voice control feature. Will such a group set up be stable ?

Resetting and losing playlists is not much fun so saving them somewhere to reimport would be a sensible addition.

Sonos systems lack any type of access control. As long as anyone has access to your home network (it could be your 8-year-old child using his/her iPod or a guest who came over), they can access your Sonos system and play the music they want. My 8-year-old daughter independently installed Sonos on her iPod and every time I am playing my favorite music, she hijacks the system and plays her teenager-style music. Once I had some guests over to my house from Italy. The guy installed Sonos on his phone and 2 minutes later my speakers were playing old-fashion Italian music. If one has an open network, you could imagine neighbors playing their own music at his house. I think that a Sonos system should be password-protected.

Hi. Could you add AppleScript support for the Sonos Desktop Mac App? AppleScript makes it easy for users & other Mac apps to control Sonos. Most music players on Mac have AppleScript support, like iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Rdio, VLC etc. For instance, FinelyTuned is able to control iTunes, Spotify or Rdio via AppleScript. Unfortunately, it can't control Sonos yet, due to the lack of AppleScript support. Cheers.

I have an XBMC server that serves its library of music via UPnP. When I configure my Sonos to 'Show Rhapsody UPnP Servers', my Sonos controller will see XBMC and allow me to play music from it. However, there seems to be no means to enqueue an entire album... I must enqueue each song separately. Is there an option to enqueue entire albums from a UPnP server that I've simply overlooked, or is this action unavailable in the Sonos app?

Setting up a play one seems it sets up then I go to rooms and it says unused, clicking on the unused it says to confirm player and link to my account, After clicking on link to my account its says Account update complete. when I go back to rooms it still says unused. Have done these steps numerous time even tried doing a factory reset and I get the same thing.

I’m quite new to SONOS and have 4 SONOS one devices. I’ve got these working with AirPlay 2 and have tried to set them up in my Home app on my iPhone so I can use them with Siri. I followed the instructions and added them via the ‘dont Have code’ options and they appeared yet once I added them they didn’t appear anywhere in the home app and I can’t re-add them as they no longer appear. I’ve also tried turning the devices off and on again. Can anyone help?

I now dread upgrades. This time, like MOST SONOS UPGRADES in the last few years, After applying an upgrade I seem to have to manually reboot every single device and also reboot my wi-fi router and boost. WHY ? What is causing this? Network Matrix shows GREENS everywhere. Half my ZP's are ethernet linked. Hald on wi-f- + boost which likely isnt needed but... Never used to be this way. Shoudln't be this way. After the iphone and playbar upgrade -- all other zones were there. But choose one to play.. ....it starts.. then bombs. Then its gone from the ROOMS list. Then iPhone App cannot find Sonos. THis is 30 minutes or more after the upgrade.successful meesage. . Eventually the APp connects and now the zones are still gone. 7 zones are now down to 2 on my iPhone App. Then 3 more appear.. then they drop. Ludicrous. Being able to add channels and playlists to My Sonos is great. No being able to add individual "line in" items is terrible. I shouldn't have to browse through three screens everytime I want to play my TV through the system. I've checked both my android app and the PC app. It doesn't seem to be available as an option on either.

I tried it on my Show and it works fairly well. It's an odd experience though, as it's like my echo now has a split personality. And I honestly can't quite grasp where this is a benefit to me, but it's got me wanting to explore what features Cortana has. And of course, this is not available (yet?) on the Sonos One or Beam, as it's not available on any 3rd party alexa devices. Without knowing the tech or licensing required in these, hard to know that it can be easily done. The other side of this is that you can now 'Open Alexa' from a Cortana device, or at least a windows 10 PC. Eventually, it should be available on windows phones, a Cortana app, or xbox as well. Today we had Sky Q installed along with mini TV box in the kitchen (and wireless sky broadband booster hardwired back to the main Q Hub in the study). The Sonos controller works fine when next to the main Hub and Sonos Bridge in the study - all speakers in the house can be controlled and new music selected. As soon as you leave this room and the wifi signal drops, re-connecting to either the signal provided by the Q box in the lounge or booster in the kitchen (all same network name), all control of the sonos is lost. The music continues to play and volume can be adjusted but you can not stop or play new tracks. Connection to "my music" is also lost, tracks and albums just show up as greyed out discs. If I then walk back into the study and it picks the main hub signal up again, everything springs back to life. Prior to Sky Q, I was using two additional TP-Link Wireless N Access Points to provide wifi coverage throughout the house (the sonos worked fine with this system). Each

Having been forced to use the App Version 9.0.1 on Android 5 when the controllers were no longer supported since April this year; Grrrrrr!!!!, I now find that since the last update a couple of days ago the app keeps crashing. I have an Asus tablet devoted to Sonos. Nothing else running on it. Rebooted several times. reinstalled Sonos App. Have reported this with the details many times in the last 24 hours. I have had to put the App on my phone now, and even that has crashed. That is running LineageOS 15.1 (open source android). As a result my system is almost unusable. Anyone else having problems?

It's annoying enough to have nagware pop up 'DO YOU WANT TO UPGRADE' every time I pull up an app, then tell me I need to create an account. No, I want to listen to my music, I don't want to upgrade. I also do not want to be forced to create an online account to get the functionality I've had for years with my Sonos Connects. In addition to nagware, the recent app upgrades for my android devices leave the controller hanging often. This am it took 4 app restarts across 2 devices(Galaxy S7, Galaxy Tab S2) to get a functioning sonos app, which after I hit play, subsequently froze. Requests: Turn off the nagware, 'click here for other options' how about you go back to just pulling up the controls? No one started the app for the opportunity of upgrading things. Think of this another way, how would you like your TV to pop up 'YOU NEED NEW FIRMWARE' every time you turned it on, then made you create an account at samsung/sony/whatnot before you could watch a program?

I have 2 play5's and 1 beam. Since the last release, I have been having connection issues. Oddly depending on which app I'm using (Win 10, Android, or Amazon Fire OS) it is a different speaker that disappears. Currently, on my WIN10 app I can control the beam, but neither play5. My android (Pxel XL, Android PI) can see the kitchen speaker. My Kindle Fire HD8 can see the bedroom. I have really solid connectivity for the last few years - up until the last update. Ever since then I am getting horrible dropouts. Luckily, my alarms are still working in the morning so far. Resetting the wireless does fix this, but it is very frustrating.

I"m a budding audiophile, but also really like the convenience of my Sonos Connect. I am a musicholic, have been since forever. I have a long history with music & audio & audio systems. SONOS has been one of my favorite purchases for some time until today... "screen lock controls" are no longer available and the experience of having songs pause or be interrupted continually is brutal and annoying. Does anyone know if SONOS intends to correct this issue? If not, I will be looking for a new way to listen to music wirelessly.

My mother loves her Sonos. especially now audible works on it, but I have to operate her controller app to play tracks for her as she is disabled. She can only manage very simple apps on her ipad. Ideally I would like a playlist to start or stop with simple click of an ipad desktop icon. Is there anything out there to do this? if not does Sonos expose an API which would allow me or some keen script kid to do this?
