Connecting to Audible

SpecificNorthwest
Forum|alt.badge.img
I received my first Sonos product over the holidays, and am LOVING it. As I was connecting all of my digital streaming services, I was surprised not to be able to find anything to connect my Audible account, and couldn't find a generic input where I could bootstrap it in. Am I missing something? Have others successfully found a way to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

Actually in recent announcements they have said its coming soon. I would personally expect to see full audible support coming in the next month (this quarter at maximum).

From all postings and marketing from Sonos their priorities right now seem to be:
1. App navigation and styling improvements
2. Google Home integration
3. Audible
4. Airplay2
5. Continued improvements Sonos One and Alexa integration

Unfortunately, you cannot connect Audible to Sonos, except through line-in on a Play 5, which is archaic. Sonos says they are working on this, but I have seen no evidence of them "working" on it.

If you have a Play:5 or Connect you could use line-in. But as V12 says; you can't connect your Audible account to Sonos at this time.

I'd agree with Chris. It's specifically mentioned in the "thanks for buying a Sonos One" email, so it's got to be on deck to be fairly soon.

Is there any update or movement? Apple is coming out with the homepod and it's going to work with any audio via airplay from my devices. IS there any updates on audible support via alexa on sonos one? Any updates on getting airplay? If so, I want to keep my sonos. BUT if no updates I'll just dump sonos and go with Apple. Even if there was a launch date in April or May that was firm I would wait. But this wait and see sucks. We're not getting firm answers. It's been from "next year" to "maybe next month" and now "might be february 2018". You can do better Sonos. Get a firm handle on your action plan and communicate it out to the users!

It's coming, given the press mention on the Sonos One marketing I would guess 1st quarter

Haha! Marking that date on my calendar. Interesting that’s the date Apple’s HomePod will be in stores. 😛

I’m curious of how the HomePod reviews come out as thy are releasing it withbmany features missing. Making it no more than glorified airplay speaker at this point.

And while the HomePod has a powerful chip in it I can’t trust Apple to support tit more than a few years. I think it’s crazy Sonos is going on 10+ Year old units still being supported with new firmware.

I agree with that. Just want to have the product to remain relevant to me compared to competitive products. So for me, I would rather have 5 -8 years of solid performance with lots of flexibility versus 10+ years of support and limited capabilities (via the limited Sonos app).

Oh and on the "glorified airplay speaker" front. I know the quality will be at least as good as sonos (which is amazing) but the Airplay is the key feature for me. So I can kick off audio on my app or on my apple TV and have it stream to the homepod would be amazing. It would be even better if I could tell my homepod to pick up that stream of sound and it would do it. I want that from my amazing Sonos speakers. I would love to be watching a movie and have the audio stream from my sonos one or have sonos one find the stream and pick it up. I know alexa can do that when I "look for a device" and then stream to it. That's something I haven't tried with Sonos One. Can you ask sonos one to pick up a bluetooth device and just stream audio (no matter what app is playing) to the sonos like you can Alexa devices?

No but I do not like the sound quality of Bluetooth and airplay. I have airplay express before connected to amp and sound was horrible compared to Sonos.

I will take sound quality over flexibility of playing arbitrary stuff off my phone anyhow (which I have no use before).

But with airplay 2 coming Sonos it is mute point.

For me, having the option and knowing the sound quality is lower is fine. The sound quality on my AirPods is really good over Bluetooth. So I don’t know what you’re talking about. But I’m not a “purist” in sound. I would rather have flexibility. Maybe I’m not picky enough to own sonos. It all depends on the company goals versus my goals. But the company (sonos) is painting a picture that they have my goals. That we are on the same page. So let’s get this moving along. At least give me firm dates.....

Well since airplay 2 coming to Sonos you will then be able to airplay to Sonos as you are wanting.
