Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I want to play the Marantz through the Sonos speakers using Connect. I am using the PreAmp outputs on the Marantz, and the OPtical cable for the Sonos to play through the Marantz (which works fine). With the Marantz playing through the Sonos Connect I don't get much volume even when the volume control is up to full. What could be the problem?
It looks like the new amp only has one HDMI input. I would like to get rid of my audio receiver which I run the TV, turntable and the Apple TV through. Will it be possible to run these devices through the new Sonos amp? I know I can run the turntable and the TV but how would I add the Apple TV to this device?
Hi All Just want to share my opinion on the performance of the Sonos Amp when used with 3rd party speakers (Definitive Technology BP 20’s aka Def Techs) and a Sonos Sub. My original setup used a Definitive Technology 1500 Powered sub in conjunction with the Def Tech speakers. As a bit of history I originally purchased the Def Tech components (for just over $2.5K-USD) in the early 90’s. Music was still available on vinyl. CD’s were just coming into their own. Streaming was unheard of. I tell you this so that the younger audience will understand that the stress to deliver audio via an analog source was less taxing on the materials used in the construction of the tweeters, mid-range and low-end speaker components than the audio produced from today’s recordings and streams in full digital format. Subwoofers required manual tuning by ear to get the most out of them without blowing then up. 😛 Fast forward to today. The Sonos Amp had no trouble driving the Def Tech BP
I accidentally left my Connect in a place where it got rain on it and now it doesn't work. I have tried to let it dry out. Is there any way to fix it or is it beyond repair? 😞
Can anyone at Sonos provide some info on using the forthcoming Amp with a pair of Left and Right Speakers to give good stereo for music plus rear speakers for TV surround sound. I’m wondering if Trueplay would work with a pair of Play3s as rear speakers plus some other make I already have connected to the Amp plus maybe a Sub. Or is the Amp really for just a 2 speaker stereo left/right setup?
I have a Playbar set up in one room and one Play:5 stereo pair set up in a second room. Is it possible to add a Sub to a third room and then group the third room with the first only, with the second only, and with both the first and second?
Ok, silly question time, just received the new Sonos Amp and whilst this doesn't change the functionality I was surprised to receive 4 x standard-ish black banana plugs, opposed to the dual custom plugs I've seen in every photo and every review. Have these now replaced the custom plugs for some reason? Or are these standard in the UK? or am I being particularly special!! 😃
Single ceiling speakers (already bought) being used in the bathroom and kitchen. I need to sum the stereo signal for those, as I listen to a lot of soul which is 'dual mono' i.e. drums on left, everything else on right. Can the output be set to mono?
Hi, I’m a new owner of two Sonos play one and I’d like connecting them to My new Cambridge Audio 851N. I have an Apple MacBook Air and a Apple Extreme TimeCapsule 3Tbyte, too. I have not succeeded yet. Thank you all
I am considering being a VSX-933 from Pioneer and hooking it up to my Sonos Connect and grouping it in one (large) room with two play:1's - my current AV-Receiver (Yamaha RX-V473) is 7 years old and it causes mild latency (echo effect) with that setup - the DAC is simply too slow - full direct mode will only allow 2 channels out of the 5.1 set up at it sounds rubbish. Anyone out there using a Sonos Connect in connect with and Sonos products in the same group?
Hello ya'll. I purchased two Def Tech aw-6500s and a new sonos amp last month. I will pick up an outdoor TV at the end of the month and hopefully have everything installed by the start of summer. I noticed there were virtually no videos with these speakers and the new amp on you tube, so I made a quick video. see link below (big joy division fan here). https://youtu.be/W8Dvc-_iC0s I hope to have the outdoor tv hooked up and dry run everything before installation. Anxious to see how fast the amp can switch from music to tv. debating if I need to add another set of speakers. I'm assuming it will not be as loud or can the amp handle another speaker for a total of 3?
Hi all, when i first set my beam up (connected to arc) on my Samsung tv it would automatically come on with the tv. Now for some reason the tv speakers work first for about 10 seconds then the tv says receiver unmute then it switches over to the beam. Any ideas why it has now changed?
Hi, I've got a sonos connect connected directly to an integrated amplifier via optical connection. The amplifier has an I build DAC as well. Because if this, I'd like to ensure that I'm bypassing the built-in DAC in the Connect. With my current method of using the optical out on the Connect, am I doing it correctly? Also, I've got my hifi Tidal account connected on the Sonos app. How to I know if I am streaming in lossless?
I have a Sonos 5 and am wondering whether there is a way to connect a CD player to it through Line In. My personal collection is way over 60,000 tracks and so was looking for a way for my wife to easily stick a CD of hers in and play it, if required, without the need for the system's original speakers. The system has the two wired outputs from the system and it to it's own speakers. I can see you can buy bare wire to 3.5mm leads so would two of them in to a 3.5mm splitter then plug in to the Play 5 and work ok? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Hi, I have recently seen talk of TV's looking to drop optical support in favour of HDMI. I understand why this would be the case, however this has me slightly concerned that my Playbase which I purchased only a couple of years ago will be useless in the near future. I was wondering if it was possible to get an adaptor much like Sonos are selling for the Beam but in the opposite direction. ie female optical to male HDMI? Any help would be appreciated! Danny
Hi, I have setup 2 speakers Klipsch AW650 with Connect amp but getting no audio. Do i have to change some settings in the sonos controller app to be able to play music with the speakers.
Hello does the Sonos AMP have a Mains In, bypassing volume control, that you attach it to existing AV Receiver Pre Outs and drive with the volume on the receiver only?
I have in celing bose speakers and want to connect to Sonos AMP. The speaker wires have 'plug ins' ... How do I connect to SONOS AMP
So I have a Sonos amp with BW 685 S2 bookshelf speakers. I’m finding the other speakers in my Sonos group, play ones and 1s, in stereo pair are sounding full and sometimes better than the 685s. Now, I know the 685 S2 are great speakers and should be worlds better, but why am I underwhelmed? Is there something I may have setup incorrectly? I have them with 4 bi wire cables on the speaker, with 2 on the amp end with banana plugs. They don’t sound bad, just a bit underwhelming especially compared to the Sonos ones Sometimes I think getting rid of them and just having a Sonos 5 in their place would round out my speaker and music much better So you understand my set up better, here is how I have it in the same room: Group 1: 5.1 beam, sub, and two play 1s Group 2: two Ones on the sides Group 3: two BW 685 S2 with amp in the middle For movies obviously I use just group one, but when listening to music I like to group them all together for a surround affect.
Hi, I have the new Sonos AMP and I would like to know if I can use any third party sub?
My Sonos Play:1 speaker recently stopped being a discoverable device for my Bluetooth turntable. I have follow several troubleshooting steps to try to solve the issue but so far none have worked. When I originally set up my speaker, I did not have to connect to the SONOS temporary network. I signed directly into my WiFi like I would with my phone. I have tried hardwiring to my router, which takes me further by far than any step in the process but I don’t intend to keep my speaker close to the router so this isn’t a realistic option. Even so, it still wasn’t showing up as a discoverable device for my turntable. I’ve tried most things I’ve read short of factory resetting.
I currently have a recent Samsung wall mounted TV, with the cables going through the back of the wall to the amp and other devices. As a result I want to avoid adding a Playbar and keep the aesthetics as they are. I also want to hook my TV up to the new Sonos AMP via HDMI/ARC (I have a new Samsung TV), but instead of using 2 x passive speakers with the Sonos One pair as the rear speakers, I want to use the Sonos One's as the front stereo pair i.e. no passive speakers in the configuration. A nice to have would be 4 x Sonos One's, so that I get a stereo front and then a rear surround with the other pair. However, if the AMP limits me to just a single pair of One's at the front, I can live with that. I know a Playbar would (probably) solve this, but I want to avoid adding to the wall or area where the TV is, as I have a convenient place for everything behind the TV. I even thought of using the Paybar as a 'dumb' connection, to get the TV to HDMI and output to the Sonos ecosystem,
My new Sonos Amp is hooked up to a Sony TV through the HDMI Arc cable and an Apple TV 4K is hooked up with HDMI also to the TV. My turntable is connected to the line in port and works great. My problem, and I haven’t seen anything about it, is that when I play a record it turns on both the TV and the Apple TV. Is there anything I can change in settings to prevent this?
I've recently setup a new Sonos Amp and noticed that loudness was on by default (as someone has already noted here in a review), and also that the sub was turned on in advanced audio/sub settings despite no sub being connected. I wonder if having loudness on by default is the best option, given that it's possible many users will have relatively high-quality speakers attached to the amp? I also wonder if having the sub setting activated makes a difference to the sound if no sub is connected? I would have thought this setting would be disabled when no sub is connected. At the moment it is possible to toggle this setting. I haven't got around to a listening test to see if it actually makes a difference. Cheers, Peter.
I just got done installing a pair of in ceiling sonos architectural. My question is that i have blown in insulation and it is all over the place. Can the insulation be touching the speaker? Is it the end of the world if some gets inside that speaker? If so then should i try and cover the back of the speaker with some netting or wood?
