Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I currently have a 2.1 system in my living room with a setup using a MartinLogan Forte amplifier and MartinLogan speakers. I'm looking to add some Sonos speakers throughout the home to be able to play what is playing through those living room speakers. Is there a way to connect standalone Sonos speakers to this 3rd party amplifier so as to integrate in the Sonos ecosystem without having to swap out my Forte amp with a new Sonos amp?
My Playbar is connected to my Panasonic TV with an optical cable and has worked perfectly like this for the past 4 years. Just this week it has started to intermittently drop sound. Any ideas what might cause this?
Hi I am building a new house and I am wanting to put multiple in-ceiling speakers in the house. I just want to clarify that if I were to purchase the Sonos in ceiling speakers, I would be able to power 3 pairs of speakers with 1 connect amp? Our original plan was to buy Polk speakers and use the Sonos Connect amp to power 2 pairs of speakers at a time but if it is possible to power 3 pair's of Sonos speakers with 1 Connect amp I would prefer to purchase the new Sono's in ceiling speakers instead. Can you let me know how well the Connect amp works powering 3 Sonos speakers. We were going to do 12 speakers with 3 zones but if I could so 12 Sono's speakers with 2 zones I would prefer that.
Hi, I have a Sonos Amp connected under my TV. Down stairs I have 3 ceiling speakers (two in that room (Living Room) and one in the dining room) and one upstairs in the bathroom. They are wire connected. Great idea originally but now when someone downstairs is listening to music late at night everybody upstairs can hear the bathroom speaker. Is there any way of controlling the speakers individually? When I look at the Sonos app there is only one room (Living room) and this controls all the speakers at the same time. So, Two questions. 1. Can the 4th speaker volume be controlled individually? 2. I guess if it can then I can assume it can also play something different than the downstairs speakers. e.g. TV Downstairs and music upstairs, or off upstairs if required. Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers
Hi all We installed a Sonus sytem when we built our house 6 years ago. Installed ceiling speakers in 5 rooms (incl outdoor), hardwired to an amplifier Recently, 2 of the 5 rooms will not play music. They are visable, the lights on the controllers appear normal, but not music at all Thoughts? Thanks
Hello all, I tried searching within the community before asking but didn't not find what I was looking for. I would like to mix and match, old set of speakers/sub with new Sonos Ones to create a 4.1 or 5.1 Theater system. I have an old Boston Acoustic 10'' sub which I would like to keep. And I would like to connect it all via a new Sonos AMP. 1) Can I have two Sonos Ones connected to the AMP and keep my Boston Acoustic Sub (instead of purchasing a Sonos Sub)? 2) Can I plug in two in-Ceiling (Klipsch) to the complete setup. Hence giving me a 4.1 effect or 5.1? Basically does my Sub become obsolete or still useful in this kinda of setup? Thank you for the ideas and opinions. Stefan
I am planning on hooking up four 8 ohm speakers in parallel. My question is how exactly do you wire those in at the back of the amp? Do you use a bi-amp wire or just shove two wires in each terminal? The plan is 8 Definitive Technology AW6500 speakers on 2 Sonos Amps. Thanks.
I'm sure this has been asked before, but does Sonos currently have a portable speaker on the market? One that is rechargeable and weatherproof, so that it can be enjoyed outside?
If you are pairing up a Sonos Amp to run in-ceiling surround speakers with a Playbar, can you use to Amp's HDMI ARC input (from your tv) to control the entire setup? Basically bypassing the optical input on the Playbar. Playbar and Amp would be connected to ethernet switch. Also could your Sub be wireless or would it need an ethernet connection too?
Hi Folks, I was given a Sonos Amp for Christmas and now looking for some speakers. I’ve always liked the look of the Klipsch Heresay iii and wondering how these would go paired with the Sonos Amp? I have a pair of Play 5’s and a Sub in another room, if that’s any indication of what I typically like. Also wondering how the Amp + Klipsch would compare to this setup. Thanks!
I have a fairly extensive audio setup and am looking to add support for streaming (as well as have multi room play). My setup: Thiel speakers, B&K preamp, Marantz monoblock amplifiers, Marantz CD player. Looks like I need to connect the audio out (either via digital coax or TOSLink) from Sonos Connect to the B&K preamp input. This will enable me to stream music onto the existing speaker setup It is not clear (sorry, newbie here) what I need to do so that music from the CD player is streamed to the Sonos Play:3 speaker in another room. Thanks.
I’m considering connecting the Sonos Amp to the Front Pre Outs of my home cinema receiver to drive the front left and right speakers in a home cinema setup. Will this work?
Just upgraded my Connect:Amp to the new Sonos Amp. The Amp is beautiful and was a breeze to set up, but I immediately noticed pressure and pain in my ears. I reconnected my old Connect:Amp and my ears were fine. I'm not sure what's causing this, though the Amp does seem a bit brighter. Dialing the treble all the way down helped a little, but not much. My KEF Q150s have aluminum dome tweeters, and perhaps just don't play well with the new Amp. Maybe there's something else going on that I can't obviously detect. For completeness, I also have a KEF sub wired up. Anyone else experiencing something similar?
As an owner of a Sonos 5.1 system w/ Playbase in my family room at home, I just wonder WHY there is not a cheaper and smaller solution than spending $700 on that sub? The price tag really isn't the issue, it's the combination of that product at that price point in smaller applications. 1. That sub is a phenomenal piece. It reaches the level of performance and accuracy IMO of my dual 10" B&W subs in my media room at home. To my ears, the Sonos sub is incredible. 2. Bottom line, it's just too much for a small room like my loft at our condo where I use a Beam. It would never reach it's potential, and a waste of $700 in that tiny room - but as a bit of an audiophile I enjoy the sound of the deep lows and punch of movies. Is there any plans at any point to create a smaller sub?
The Sonance 86 on the Sonance website has a 8" Woofer selling for $799 but it seems like the Sonos/Sonance speaker adapted for SONOS has the specs of the smaller Sonance Mariner 66 for the same price. For the same price my question is I would prefer to get the bigger Sonance 86 but how does this work with the new Sonos amp. What advantage would it be to get the adapted Sonos/Sonance?
Hi - I bought a Connect Amp a several years ago to connect two outdoor speakers to my Sonos system. I have now moved and the new house has several outdoor speakers hooked up to a receiver. I would like to add that system to my Sonos system if possible without having to buy a Connect. Is there a way to hook up my Connect Amp to the receiver? Here is a picture of my Connect Amp: Can I use a Speaker to Line Level Converter like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kicker-KISLOC-2-Channel-Speaker-Converter/dp/B00I4EF1BC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1551191697&sr=8-3&keywords=speaker+to+line+level+converter Thanks!
I use a Bridge in my system and like what it does. How is the Boost different and what can it do for me
hello I'm about to purchase a SONOS AMP - I'm using it to connect my B&W speakers, subwoofer and turntable to my Sonos system. i'll be using it with both Airplay 2 and the Sonos App. My question is - Which surround speakers should I buy? Sonos play:1 or Sonos one? I believe the former will work as a surround group using Airplay for music? what about Spotify Connect? documentation is slightly spotty here.
Is there a way I can manipulate the Sonos app so I can use my headphones -- instead of the speakers?
The Sonos Amp will be available in february for me. I am now contemplating the setup for my tv-living room. I would like to hook the Amp to the TV. I have a discreet setup with no cables/wires showing, Ideal for me would be if I can use the wired connections on the amp for the rear speakers and my two planned Play5 gen2 as fronts. Would this be possible with the Amp?
Hopefully a simple novice question but one I can't see an answer to. The new Sonos Amp allows 2 stereo sets of speakers to be connected to it, so 4 speakers in total. Will this result in lower volume or inferior quality than with just one pair?
I’m trying to find out what the Connect line-in signal path is. For example, if a CD player is connected via the line-in input, does the signal remain in the analog stage or is it it routed through the Connect’s internal DAC? Sated another way, is the analog signal that exits from the line-out output the same analog signal delivered to the line-in input? Second, in what way do the Connect/Sonos App volume, tone and balance controls control the analog signal? Is the analog signal routed through the DAC? Thanks, John
I have a midi controller set up with Logic X. I'd like to run the sound currently being output on the Mac's speakers to a Line In on the Sonos system so I could hear it with the Sonos speakers. How do you make that happen? Thanks
I recently ordered a set of Focal Aria 936 speakers to run with my new Sonos Amp. Before ordering, I verified that the speakers are nominally 8 ohms. However, I now see that they actually dip to 2.8 ohms during some playback. See here - https://www.stereophile.com/content/focal-aria-936-loudspeaker-measurements This is slightly concerning as Sonos in other threads has stated that the Amp is only stable with 4 ohms loads. My question is will this transient 2.8 ohm dip cause issues with the Amp's protection circuit? Obviously, even a speaker which is rated at 4 ohms (and thus within Amp's approved specifications) may sometimes dip below that depending on the source material, so I hope this dip for the Focals will not be an issue. For what its worth, I called customer service and received little guidance. They said that any dip below 4 ohms would immediately cause shutdown (which is hopefully not the case), but that any dip below 4 ohms while the speakers are not playing would
Apple-TV connected to TV. Sonos Amp (the new one) connected HDMI-ARC. Question will the AppleTV remote control the volume of the Amp like it does with the Playbar?
