The Sonance 86 on the Sonance website has a 8" Woofer selling for $799 but it seems like the Sonos/Sonance speaker adapted for SONOS has the specs of the smaller Sonance Mariner 66 for the same price.
For the same price my question is I would prefer to get the bigger Sonance 86 but how does this work with the new Sonos amp. What advantage would it be to get the adapted Sonos/Sonance?

When these speakers are connected to Sonos Amp, the Amp will automatically detect them, and automatically adjust the sound to be best for that speaker. This is only possible because we designed the speakers from the ground up with Sonance. This also means the indoor models (In-Wall and In-Ceiling) are the only passive speakers to support Sonos’ Trueplay tuning, which tunes the system to the room environment.
So basically, the outdoor are tuned to sound like the other Sonos speakers. It also looks like Sonos has slightly more power that the 86. Sonos doesn't show those specs, but you can compare from crutchfield.

With the Sonos speakers you can also use 3 pairs of speakers without needing an external speaker switch for impedance matching.
Personally, I am more than happy with speakers in $300 pair range, but I've never heard either of the above to tell the difference.

After looking at these specs on Crutchfield website then the Sono/Sonance speakers are very similar dimensions as the smaller Sonance 66. Also the woofer in the Sonos/Sonance is 6.5" which is the same as the Sonance Mariner 66. Since this may not be the official specs I am not feeling confident. Maybe the only advantage is impedance matching.
My only concern here I feel the price should match the Sonance Mariner 66($650) if the speakers are the same performance and not rip off Sonos customers. That is a price difference of approx $150. This new Sonos/Sonance outdoor speaker to my hope matches the performance of the Sonance 86 if they are retailing at the same price at $799
