What to get

I recently received an email from Sonos to replace my Bridge with the newer Boost and currently have a generous time limited discount offer to do so. I should mention here that I have very few connection problems with my Sonos set up which comprises 1x Play3, 4x Play1 (in two stereo setups), 1x Connect and 1x Bridge. All devices are first generation. We use Windows PC and Android controller apps and my only music sources are via a NAS on ethernet and Amazon Prime membership. So my question, as per title, is will these older components continue to work OK when set up as a Sonos Mesh Network thus (as I understand it), freeing up my home wi-fi? And will they STILL continue to work after Sonos bring out more upgrades in the future?  

I’m excited to switch over to Sonos for our house. I’m trying to figure out what to put in the living room / family room, which would be the place where I’d like the best quality for listening to music.  With the sale prices at the moment, for about the same money I could put in a stereo pair of Ones with the Sub, or I could put in an Amp with a pair of the highly rated, lower priced wired speakers out there: Q Acoustics 3020i, ELAC Uni-Fi UB5, or something similar. Anyone do this “similar-total-price” comparison already? What speakers did you use / like with the Amp? Any thoughts on the sound quality you can get with the Ones / Sub vs with the Amp and these speakers or similar ones? Thanks!

Anyone knows how long we are going to have to wait until the Move is available in White?

Hey All, I could really use some advice on whether it’s a good idea to update my current 5.1 set up or stick with what I already have. I’ve currently got my TV set up with a Playbar, Sub and two rear Sonos Ones (Gen 2). I use it for both the TV audio and often play music through this set up as well. My question is whether it would be worth replacing the two Sonos Ones with two Play:5s (Gen 2). To give you an idea of the space, it’s essentially a big, long room - open plan living at one end, dining area in the middle and kitchen at the other end. The TV, Playbar and Sub are on the furthest wall in the living, the couch faces those and the two Sonos Ones sit behind the couch on a console table that separates the living and dining areas. I love my current system and it seems adequate enough. I don’t feel like I need another speaker in the kitchen when listening to music, for example. That said, I’ve never owned a Play:5 before and don’t know what I’m missing. I’ve been adding Sonos products slowly the last 2 years. Yes, a little bit each time as it’s pretty pricey. But worth it, IMO. So this year I am looking to either add a Playbase or a Amp. But I just noticed they have a new product, Port. Is the new Port a replacement for the retired Amp Connect?  I have an old school stereo system with turntable that I still use. I like to spin vinyls on Sunday’s. I also have a 5disc cd player and dual cassette tape player which I still use. I also have a dvd and BluRay player I have hooked up that will play through my home speakers when I watch movies on my big screen. 90% of the time I listen to streaming (via Spotify, Bandcamp, etc) or  iTunes using my iPhone or iPad on my 3 pairs of Sonos (Play1 and One) throughout the house.  so depending which product is available for a Black Friday price I will most likely purchase that for my next Sonos device. Looking to add a Sonos product in my Kitchen/dining area in the near future. Which one should I get? Move or Play 5? Which one has a better sound? With the Move I could take outdoors which is one advantage.

  I bought a elac's ub5 speaker yesterday. Picture above is the spec sheet of it. I'm considering to buy sonos amp but seems like it has too much power for my speaker.   This speaker is 4ohm. So the sonos amp's side, It would be 250w.  But this speaker's peak power is 140w. Almost twice to peak power.   I'm newbie to amp, and passive speaker setup. So wondering this would be okay…   I already own a pair of sonos one, and one symfonisk. I want to use it all grouped playing. Ub5 for front L,R, Sonos one for rear. Symfonisk for mono center in a room   So the sonos amp is the only option...    Hope not amp burn my speaker's coil...but If it's not fit for sonos amp.. I would return ub5..   I'm gonna buy a DAC and turn the DAC's volume knob minimum. Is that gonna make it better or meaning less?      

Hey Sonos. So i have been reading that i will be able to replace the battery on my Sonos move at home sometime in the future which sounds great! However, i am curious: When i choose to replace the battery myself, will this cancel out the IPX7 rating on my Sonos Move? Or will it still be IPX7 rated even after i change the battery myself? I picked up a pair of homepods at Costco for $149 each. I am debating returning them and picking up a pair of Sonos ones instead. What would be a better option for me?I have google home hubs set up all around my house, and use that to control all of my smart home stuff. I wanted speakers in my kitchen and bedroom that sounded a little better than the hubs (they sound pretty bad). I also have a Sonos playbar, sub, and two Sonos play 3’s in my living room that I use for the TV and music there.I have both a Spotify and Apple Music subscription (my wife likes AM and I like Spotify). Would I be better suited with the Sonos Ones or the homepods?Thanks!

I am writing this question because I do not know how it is possible to connect any Sonos soundbar with my Projector (EPSON TW-5600) and Fire TV Stick.  The Fire TV stick is connected to my projector using the HDMI port, the projector doesn’t have an ARC connection.  The fire stick has bluetooth so I can send the audio to a bluetooth enabled soundbar but this doesn’t help when using a Sonos speaker.  I think it is not possible to use a Sonos soundbar with a projector but I am hopeful there is a way!  I have not purchased the soundbar yet, I have many Sonos speakers so it makes sense for me to buy a Sonos soundbar but it is problematic.  Thanks in advance!!!   

Hi, I have several eligible devices. They are online and this is showing up on the my account page, but I don’t see any option for the trade up scheme to be applied to any of the products. I am viewing the page on an iPhone 7plus if that makes any difference.   Can Someone assist?

I replaced my existing Definitive Technology UIW 83/A in-ceiling speakers and Connect:Amp with SONOS Architecture In-Ceiling speakers and SONOS Amp. My previous speakers required a 9” diameter cutout which was too big for the SONOS In-Ceiling speakers. So I designed an adapter trim and ordered 3D prints using Nylon 12 (SLS) dyed black. Attached is a photo of the installation and a link to the adapter trim STL file should anyone need to 3D print a pair. I like the small black reveal but if one prefers they can print the adapter trim in white as well.   The SONOS In-Ceiling speakers with SONOS Amp sound fantastic. They have similar timbre and so blend much better with my other SONOS players than my previous speakers; and they look great.    The trim adapter STL file is publicly accessible and can be downloaded here: TrimAdapter.STL

What are peoples thought of replacing a play 5 gen one with either s beam or play 5 gen 2.A bit of background. Had the gen 5 for a few years, acquired used mainly  for the headphone jack to allow for night time use. That has since been replaced with a bose headset.It now lives in the bedroom next to the tv but not connected to it. And used for casual listening,. While I have no issue's with the 5, I worry Sonos are about to make some changes that will impact my 5 negatively, no evidence on my part just a gut feeling and ii'm looking nto a replacement for it.A 5 gen 2 gets me the best sound quality but the beam allows me to connect to the tv, a voice assistant  and airplay 2, wife is an iPhone user, my question really is if these others features are enough to justify the lower sound quality of the beam, and it's also cheaper. I think it is but curious on what people think. How does a beam stack up against the 5 gen 2.O, the beam also allows for a 5.0 expansion in the future, though I am

I have an Onkyo receiver that is compatible with a Sonos Connect, will I get at least the same compatibility with a Sonos Port?Further, are there any advantages with the Sonos Port apart from what I understand of upgraded audio components? Thanks in advance.

Would I need two Amps in theory, assuming I wanted to have the option to stream the record player via Sonos?I don’t have the option to hardwire my Playbar to Ethernet or the Amp.Any advise would be greatly appreciated. 

Hi all, We recently moved into a new house that had some passive Definitive Technology speakers wired for surround sound in the family room, there are also some in ceiling speakers throughout the rest of the house wired back to the family room. I was drawn to Sonos for the ease of use and clean designs so I purchased 3 Amps direct from Sonos. I set this up to run a 4.1 Surround System in the Family room and the 3rd Amp is powering the Ceiling Speakers. Works great. I then wondered if I am missing out on a Center channel so I am also testing a 7.1 Onkyo receiver which can do much of what the 3 Amps are doing for much less money, roughly $500 versus $1800 for 3 Amps. With the Onkyo I set it up for 5.1 and the 2nd Zone powers the ceiling speakers. But here I am wondering if I should go back to the Amps, I like the user experience better and slick design of the Amps. It feels more modern to me than the larger AV receivers Plus I enjoyed a few features that sonos allowed me to do that I can

Would I be correct in assuming that if I want to output all sound from my PC to my Sonos Move’s, I will need a Sonos Amp or Connect? However, it’s still dissapointing that to gain this flexaibility in the Move’s I need to spend another $500.

I would be looking at buying the SONOS MOVE for use in our MotorHome (That’s an RV @Ryan S and @Chris) So as the motorhome runs on 12v which I know the Move doesn’t then I need to have a good idea how long it will run from a full charge connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth.I can plug in 240v but if hooked up on a site it would probably knock out the power due the high amps. ThanksDave

I have looked through previous posts but there seem to be so many different set ups that I want to be sure I get the right product.I am setting up a home cinema system. At the moment I have an Nvidia Shield (2017), an old Optoma projector (which will be replaced in next 12 months so not a fixed part of set up), a Gen 1 Play 5 and two Play 1s.I have a shelf at the back of the room with space/plugs to house the projector, Nvidia Shield and any speakers or other equipment needed there.Ideally, I was hoping that I could connect the Shield to the projector and a Sonos product and then stream the audio from the Shield/projector to the Play 1s or another Sonos product at the front of the room.Will that work if I connect a HDMI from the Shield to the projector and then connect an optical cable/HDMI to any Sonos product? Or do I need something like the Connect or Connect Amp? Would that even work to relay the audio to the other Sonos speakers in the room?As

I have a Beam with sonos sub and play 1 speakers in my living room and I am looking to replace the Beam with sonos amp and Mission floorstanding speakers. The reason for planning that is because I think it might give me a good option for music and movies in same area rather than setting up the speaker in another room. I don't have an amplifier so need to get one if I set the speaker separately. I don't know how well the phantom centre works for movies with sonos amp as there is no option for that whereas from the beam dialogue is quite clear. Hope you could share your thoughts. Thanks

I recently installed a WD  NAS on my systemI uploaded all of my fairly extensive music library up to the NAS with no issues.When I try to add the Folder on the NAS to Sonos with the Windows App I can see the folder in the add music services window, but the “button” to select it is greyed out.I have tried it in both the public and private sides of the NAS, and have tried moving the folder out on it’s own. I have done some research on permissions and think I have things set up correctly but cannot get the ability to select the folder.I assume it is some sort of a permission problem but am at a loss to sort it out.Can someone advise me?
