With the release of the Sonos One (Gen2) you may have questions as to how it compares to the Sonos One (Gen1) and its not so distant cousin the Sonos Play:1. Rest assured that all three speakers are top notch in terms of build quality, internal components, attention to detail and deliver the outstanding audio experience you expect from a Sonos speaker. In a blind listening test you'd be hard pressed to choose one over the other (if at all).

Update 2019: In addition to Amazon Alexa, Google Voice is also available as a programmable single choice voice assistant on the Sonos One (Gen 1&2).

Great and simple to the point study, thanks. Got 2x play ones, what your thoughts on connecting "echo input" units to each. Based on the fact that play ones cant connect to Alexa.

Glad you found the post useful. To be correct (and it was probably just a slip) you cannot connect an Amazon device to a Play 1 as there is no line-in. You can intergrate Amazon Alexa with a Play 1.

As an opinion I think it’s a great idea. I see no downside. The sound will be whatever Amazon sends to the Play 1 which is definitely better than an Amazon device.
