With the recent release of the Sonos One (Gen2) you may have questions as to how it compares to the Sonos One (Gen1) and its not so distant cousin the Sonos Play:1. Rest assured that all three speakers are top notch in terms of build quality, internal components, attention to detail and deliver the outstanding audio experience you expect from a Sonos speaker. In a blind listening test you'd be hard pressed to choose one over the other (if at all).

Please use the chart below as a reference tool for your buying decision:

Great and simple to the point study, thanks. Got 2x play ones, what your thoughts on connecting "echo input" units to each. Based on the fact that play ones cant connect to Alexa.

Hi ahr69

Glad you found the post useful. To be correct (and it was probably just a slip) you cannot connect an Amazon device to a Play 1 as there is no line-in. You can intergrate Amazon Alexa with a Play 1.

As an opinion I think it’s a great idea. I see no downside. The sound will be whatever Amazon sends to the Play 1 which is definitely better than an Amazon device.

Cheers!

Question: Will a PlayOne gen1 stereo pair with a PlayOne gen2?

SONOS One Gen 1 and Gen 2 can be paired as stereo or surrounds.

Play:1's cannot be paired to Sonos One's. At least not through the Sonos app.
Note that this information is in the chart, on the line labeled "Create stereo pair or surrounds".

Minor correction: the Gen 2 One reports the exact same amount of memory as Gen 1: see the memory chart I posted a while ago. Can't tell about the processor.

Well...controlav...you'll have to argue your point with Sonos :8

As of now, based on what Sonos has said, users will not be able to find any difference between the two Sonos One generations. Whether that will change in future, none can say.

All of the relevant information about the differences between the Sonos One (Gen1/Gen2) are pointed out in the chart. All verbiage in the chart is gathered from marketing points for both products officially released by Sonos and readily found if one cares to search for it. The comparison chart condenses (negates) the "heavy lifting" one might encounter in the performance of personal research.

Cheers!
