It was not clear from the previous post (https://en.community.sonos.com/music-services-and-sources-228994/sonos-arc-and-tidal-atmos-6842179), or whether there has been an update ever since, but I have a Sonos Arc and a relatively old TV which has ARC but does not seem to allow pass through of Atmos (based on my testing with Netflix). I was wondering must my TV have an eARC or that I purchase something like a HDFury Arcana to experience Atmos from Tidal? Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. That’s unfortunate because I have a Chromecast with Google TV and it is not in the list of supported devices. Let’s say I get the Arcana, based on this link https://www.whathifi.com/au/news/tidal-connect-one-touch-casting-of-hi-res-and-dolby-atmos-music, I am not sure whether I would be able to get Atmos using the Chromecast? (If I understand correctly, I read your posts on another topic and it seems that Atmos through Apple Music is not possible without an Apple TV 4K, which rules that out.)
Dolby Atmos music on TIDAL isn’t supported on the Chromecast, so TIDAL Connect wouldn’t produce Dolby Atmos audio either even with an Arcana.
As far as I know, the only way to get Spatial Audio/Dolby Atmos music from Apple Music to play out of the Arc is through an Apple TV 4K and a TV with HDMI eARC or an Arcana.
I hope you don’t mind me asking, on a slightly different question, I have a Panasonic TH-L42ET5S and I only seem to be getting Stereo PCM 2.0, whether it is through the HDMI ARC port or digital audio optical output. This is for an Atmos movie on the Netflix Premium subscription. I was scrolling through the manual for a similar model and there are mentions of 5.1 (https://www.manualslib.com/p/panasonic+th-l42et5a.html). When I scroll through the Chromecast audio settings it says that unsupported formats are Dolby Atmos in Dolby Digital Plus, AAC, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus. Does that mean that there is no hope of even experiencing 5.1 surround sound?
It looks like your TV model was first sold in 2012. I have a Panasonic ST60 plasma from 2013. Without the Arcana, the only way I could get Dolby Digital 5.1 audio was either through the TV’s native VUDU app or from a 5.1 encoded file on a USB flash drive plugged into the TV’s USB port. Everything else, including all external media devices, only resulted in Stereo PCM 2.0. So I would imagine your older TV would produce similar results.
But with the Arcana, I can get all forms of Dolby Atmos playing out of the Arc from my Apple TV 4K (Dolby MAT), Roku Ultra (Dolby Digital Plus), and Panasonic UHD player (Dolby TrueHD).
Yes, if you have an older TV, you need to either get a new TV with eARC or an HDFury Arcana. You also need to make sure your TV or your media device supports Dolby Atmos audio from TIDAL:

Dolby Atmos music also requires a TIDAL HiFi subscription.
I have a Sonos Arc connected to an older TV from 2013 and have an HDFury Arcana. I can listen to Dolby Atmos music on TIDAL through my Apple TV 4K.
