Sorry if this has been asked/answered already… but can anyone confirm what version of Bluetooth the Sonos Move devices currently use? I noticed Sonos have updated their “Power + Connectivity” section for the Move, which now states Bluetooth 5.0 https://www.sonos.com/en-gb/shop/move#2 But I’m still seeing messages on this forum, and ‘reviews’ from third party sites as recent as January 2022, stating it still uses Bluetooth 4.2 - has there been a low-key specs update ?
Has anyone experienced the same thing? Our roam was connected to the mains and playing music when it suddenly disconnected and for the last 40 mins or so has been emitting a really really loud noise like a helicopter. We can’t turn it off, have disconnected it from the mains and tried all the options to turn it off. It is now over heating and we have had to put it outside. ( and in a box due to how loud it is). We have had it less than 1 week. We will return it but am just hoping the noise stops so we can take it out of the box, and that it doesn't catch fire first!
My Sonos Play5 just stopped working today. It doesn’t get any juice anymore. I used to think that Sonos was a high quality product. From an ecological perspective I don’t think I want to buy a product that only lasts 5 yearsFrom a commercial perspective I don’t see how a 15% reduction offered by support would make up for this defect. Are consumers supposed to spend almost 600 euros ever y 5 years on new Sonos products?
I would like to connect to my Play 1 as my main computer speaker however I don’t see it in my Sound Preferences. I have 2 Play 1s, a Connect and a Beam. I have all devices connected on my iPhone and can see them in the Sonos app and through Airplay. However I can’t see the Play 1 in my Preferences, only the Connect and Beam. However, I can connect to the Play 1 in certain apps, like Spotify, through Airplay (on the desktop/MBP, the phone is fine). It shows up on the Spotify app, but not in my System Preferences as a sound source. Is something wrong with my set-up or is it not designed to connect this way? I’m running Monterey 12.1
I have a Sonos Roam. I have it on Sonos' wireless charger, so it is always fully charged. I have noticed that when it reaches 100%, the charging symbol does not appear in the app. Eventually, the charging symbol will appear in the app, and the orange light will illuminate. Is this correct? I thought trickle charging ment that it was always charging, and adjusted things itself. It seems to me that it does not charge after it has reached 100%, and then start charging again after some use. I guess my question really is how does the trickle charging on Sonos Roam work?
Sometimes I enter a room without having my phone with me. I’d like to be able to turn on the speaker and have it play my preferred music (in my case a station on BBC Sounds) rather than whatever was last playing Could we have the option to define a default source please?
The product is branded “roam” it should be easy to use away from home… right?I was naive enough to think that.I am currently traveling for work and my go-to bluetooth travel speaker kicked the bucket. I took it as an opportunity to pickup the roam, something I had been eyeing for a bit. Getting the thing setup (just so I can use bluetooth) while I’m on hotel wifi is near impossible. It also REFUSES to do bluetooth pairing without wifi setup first. I finally did it, it took an hour and a half. Multiple devices, hotspots, new sonos systems/accounts, etc. Completely unacceptable experience. This is going to be a ton of people’s entry product into the sonos ecosystem. It NEEDS to work with simple bluetooth pairing out of the box. I don’t know why I have to tell you this, get better product management.
How do I make my ikea symfonisk a Bluetooth speaker? I was not successful hooking up to wifi While on holidays. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Is Sonos planning to give us the ability to stereo pair 2 Sonos Move’s via bluetooth? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!
I hope an update is coming because I’m over going to use my roam and it’s dead. Out of the five times I’ve wanted to use it I have only been able to use it once. I have to leave it on the charger when not in use otherwise it will be dead when I go to use it. When it’s on the charger and it gets to 100% there is no way to turn it off. If I hold the power button for five seconds it turns off but within a few seconds it turns itself back on again. If they don’t say a fix is coming within a week sadly it’s going back.
Anyone else pissed that Sonos doesn’t include a power adapter w/ the roam? Before you tell me that everyone has a bunch of extra 10v adapters lying around the house, I’ll tell you that I don’t.
Is it normal that a Play 5 gen1 speaker reach end of life in 5 years 2 months?
Can I use my Roam in a steam shower? I’m a wheelchair user and am having a roll-in shower built equipped with a steam-bath. I would of course place the speaker opposite of the steam nozzle. I’ve used cheaper Bluetooth speakers designed for the shower in the past and they worked OK. One speaker’s suction cup released, it fell and stopped working. The other speaker was just not worth listening to. My original idea was to use the Roam in the shower to make a phone call in case of an emergency as I would with the Google Mini. That option is not available. I haven't really used the Roam in my present shower. It is equipped with a steam-bath but, s too small to steam in for a long period of time. Regular exposure to steam might be asking too much. thanks
Is there a way to have SL Ones startup when I turn on my Samsung TV and Beam Gen 2? Or do I have to physically turn on the SL One each time I turn on my TV/Beam?
I can't add Sonos Roam to my network. It asks me to update the App, but it is already updated
Everytime when my wife wants to connect to sonso roam with bluetooth it just does not work.Sometimes when the device is off it starts automatically and no worries, but more often even when the device is on, the bluetooth on the phone tries to connect but no response what so ever. I have to stop and start the sonos several times and all of a sudden it connects. What I described is exactly the same patern that I must follow to get the thing working.just try over and over again until it reacts. It is really annoying that she up until now is never was able to connect with out my help. She has no issue with all our other Bluetooth devices so she knows what to do. (Just click on the devices name in the bluetooth menu)I am worrying I was unlucky and bought a faulty device.
Hi guys, I am a proud owner of a Sonos Roam speaker. I love to carry it when visiting friends and barbecuing at different places with WiFi coverage.I prefer the WiFi connection so the music keeps playing even when I move farther away from the speaker.Any chance to see an easy and quick connection of the Sonos Roam to different WiFis? Or advise how to do thiss in case I have missed this option? Thanks, Toller
The difference between Sonos and Bose is generally that Sonos is the better company in terms of their software and installation, as it's very easy to build your own multiroom setup. However, Bose still has the edge on Sonos when it comes to sound quality.
So I just got the Roam yesterday for the primary use of connecting it to my projector via Bluetooth and then ‘sharing’ the sound with my existing pair of One SL. But the Roam doesn’t ‘share’ the sound to the SL, whether on WiFi or BT even though both sets of speakers have been grouped together. When on WiFi and using my Andriod Sonos App, if a song is first played on the Roam, it won’t play on the SL when it is added to the group. If the song is first played on the SL, it will play on the Roam when added to the group. (No issues with creating the group for both instances, but no sound on the SL in the first instance)When the Roam is connected via BT to my phone/projector, the sound won’t play on the SL when they are added to group. (clicking on the Group icon on the phone app shows both sets have been grouped and playing). Most of the times the SL doesn’t play when added to the group, sometimes it plays for a split second before cutting out. I’ve only managed to get it to play as a grou
I’d like to take my pair of Sonos Moves to a friends house for a visit. What’s involved in hooking them up to a different wifi (while the rest of my sonos gear remains home) and then hooking them back up to my wifi when I get home?
Moderator note: Newer Sonos products do support Bluetooth. Please see our support article Use Bluetooth on Sonos for more information. Hi All,I am aware that Sonos beam does not support Bluetooth, but has anyone tried using any kinds of converter that helps to enable bluetooth connectivity with Sonos beam ?I have an LG HU70LA projector with firestick, which I want to mount on ceiling. I don’t want to run an HDMI cable from ceiling to Sonos beam since its an hasstle.I am looking to connect Sonos beam to firestick from projector.Anyone aware of solutions?
Since the most recent updates to the controller and to players, the white status light on my new Roam will not turn off no matter what the settings are in the controller. I have seen a couple of other threads on this same issue that are closed to further comments. Does that mean Sonos is working on a fix? I do not have the same issue on my many other players and amps, just on the Roam.
I am considering a Roam for my office set-up and would prefer to position it vertically on my desk - my concern is that it doesn’t have the rubber ‘feet’ on the end, in the same way as it has on it’s side, and may cause it to vibrate on the desk surface. Does anyone have any experience with this type of set-up? Thanks D
Having read several threads where many people are disappointed that Roam cannot be used for surround speakers, how about a new product for all those people with relatively small rooms and no convenient power points? This would be a pair of Roams (RoamSurround) with cut-back features especially designed as rear surround speakers to suit Playbar, Arc etc. Packed in pairs with a special price point reflecting the simpler build, I am sure that it would sell well …The Roam is a fantastic speaker - put me down for the first prototype or pre-production model!I use Ones, Amp, Playbar, Connect:Amp - and of course my new favourite - Roam.
I read on the internet that it is Bluetooth 4.2, but on the official website, it says that it is 5.0 ... which one is true? Has the Move had a hardware overhaul?
