love the Sonos speaker range but interested in getting a speaker for the garden is this something Sonos is planning or is there a known compatible speaker we can link to the Sonos group

Good afternoon folks. I've recently started into the Sonos world and have (5) Play:1s in the house. All are using wifi at this point, with the home network being controlled by a Cisco 2504 controller and Cisco 3502 APs. SSID that the players are connecting to are offered on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz on (2) APs, on different channels. All devices connect and work, but it seems some/most of them drop off the network at times, as I can see them disappear from the controller list of devices, and I see the resulting DHCP request in the logs on the backend. I'm in the middle of a field (literally), so neighbour interference should not be a factor. There are some distant competing APs, but nothing with a strong signal. Looking for some direction here. We have our speakers in two bedrooms and the little power light seems to put out a huge amount of light when the room is dark. So much that with both speakers now have a piece of paper balanced on top of both! Anyway to turn that light down?

I own the Sonos play:1 and just ordered Google Home mini without good thinking. I did some research and found out that the Google Assistant will be supported on Sonos One in 2018. (Does this mean that I don't need an external Google Home device? Or that I just can control the Sonos One with my Google Home device?) But will I be able to use the Google Home mini to voice control my Sonos Play:1? If not, should I : -replace the Google Home mini with the Amazon Echo dot? Or -Invest in the Sonos one and use no external voice control devices? Other suggestions and tips are always welcome. Thanks for answering.

we have our Play5 hooked up to the TV via the Line-in connection. my daughter is playing an Xbox, but we have our Sonos speakers (the Play5 & 2 paired play3's) playing Music (radio) via a computer, so she has no sound. about every 10 minutes the Sonos system defaults to the Line-in connection?, stopping the music and playing the sound from the TV/Xbox. I did have it so the Play5 was sound from the TV & the paired play3's were playing the music, but again, the Line-in connection defaulted every 10 minutes. stopping the music, and the play3's reverted to TV/Xbox - even without them being grouped to the Play5

Has anyone out there had issues with a speaker causing a GFCI outlet to trip. When I plug in a Play 5 speaker on a downstream outlet the GFCI outlet immediately trips.

Just bought a second hand play one. Apparently used 4 times. Seems speaker is blown. Is this repairable ?

I have a Sonos Play:1 that I use with Alexa on my Amazon Dot. But is it possible to play content from my MacBook on the Sonos? I understand that the Play:1 is wifi only, and not bluetooth. So if my MacBook is connected to my internet, can I play things like radio podcasts from my MacBook on my Play:1?

If I set specific EQ settings for my Sonos One, are those settings “stored” in the speaker, or do I need to plug them in separately into each individual controlling device (e.g. my iPad and my iPhone)?

It has been several months now since the introduction of Alexa control and Sonos One, and the Sonos community has repeatedly asked for a few things that have landed on deaf ears. I am not impressed at Sonos' reaction (or lack thereof). Here are my two biggest examples: 1) Stereo pairing between Play 1 and Sonos One. C'mon guy, this is a software tweak. You say these speakers are different, but to the untrained ear they sound identical. Slight differences can be handled by automated equalizer tweaks (as if we would notice anyway). 2) I want a control app, not a flashlight app. When you changed from a black to a white background, those of us who use it in low light situations are still having eye problems. At the very least, this should be a settings option for the app.

I have a house and a cottage full of Sonos speakers, including Play 1, Play 3's, several Play 5's, an Amp and more. One of the Play 5 units has suddenly stopped working. I tried moving the unit to a different location and exchanging the power cord with one of the other Play 5 units but it seems to be completely dead. There is no flashing light and it has vanished from the network. I even tried assuming that it was just the LED light that wasn't working and attempted to initialize the speaker on my network but no luck. At this point, I have to assume that the unit has simply died although it's only a couple of years old which seems premature. Is there a Sonos repair facility or some way I can get this unit replaced under warranty? I love my Sonos system but am very disappointed that it has died at such a tender age.

Hey guys! Thanks in advance for the help. We are getting married this summer and will be having a small acoustic band (2 guitars and a singer) at the wedding. Is there any way possible that I can connect the line out from the band's amplifier into a sonos system? I would really like to place sonos speakers throughout the venue so you can hear the live music wherever you are ie, the bar, the bathroom, changing rooms. Is it possibile, by mean of an official (or less official) way, to split somehow the audio and the video source in order to play the video on the tv and the audio on my Sonos One? If I cast a movie from a pc with plex/kodi to the smart/chromecasted tv it works fine, but I would also like the Sonos One to play the audio source of the movie instead of (or together with) the tv speakers. Is it possible?

Power cable or truly wireless?

I've been a loyal customer so long that I'm still using the 100 controllers (over 10 years). Sonos has rolled out a whole lot of very impressive products during that time. That said, the one glaring omission are outdoor speakers (with the built in amplifier to tie into your Sonos network). It would seem to be a very easy solution, and I'm still baffled that there have been no products launched for those of us who like to have music outside! John

I'm curious if I can use my Traktor S2 dj turntables with my Play5. Have tried the line in, compressed, uncompressed, but I'm having the delay issues. Will a ZP90 or ZP120 remedy the issue? I understand Sonos's streaming capabilities are great, but I'm looking for something to distribute sources coming out of my Onkyo TX-NR515. Effectively, I am wondering is, will the Sonos Connect and a Play:3 speaker allow me to broadcast the Onkyo's sources to the Play:3? I know I can go Bridge -> Onkyo, but I (think) I want to go Onkyo -> Connect -> Play:3 and hear whatever I have the Onkyo providing (TV, CD's, etc...). If it can do that, do I also need a Bridge as well, or does the Connect have all the Bridge functionality in it? Thanks in advance

Moving to another apartment and selling my old stereo equipment I now have spare 2 x play 1 and 1 x play 5 on hands that were before used for different rooms. Due to convenience factor I would like to move one of these to my main listening area but i still question which way to go. Either i add another Play 5 or purchase a Sub to go with Play 1s. Having small kids my listening volume is normally quite low. Reading this forum some suggest that the sound from play 5s would give me fuller sound but bass from the Sub would be much better, while others seem to think play 1s do sound better on their own when Sub comes into the picture. I understand the decision would always be subjective but would still like to hear some advice. Thanks Tomaz

Hi guys, I bought a Play 5 after an audiophile friend of mine advised it to me. I've been working around it for almost two months to make it work normally. Here are a few issues I'm having so you could help me on that. 1. Cannot configure wifi on it. Here's what I tried: - Switching my router dedicated to Sonos from 5 ghz to 2.4 ghz - Tried on two iPads, one iPhone, one Android smartphone and a Macbook. In any of these cases he recognizes my network. - With an Ethernet cable it works but the most weird is that even in the Macbook with the SONOS wifi selected, sound never switches to the speaker and remains on the internal speakers. 2. No way to add my internal Mac music (iTunes) to the Sonos library. Always says my music folder is not available or it cannot find my Mac. Since I have a Bluetooth turntable, the only way I am able to make it work is using a Bluetooth adapter from Audio Engine, but once again, it's not controllable through the Sonos Controller App. And after

After some time of using the speakers (about 2 hours) they just now started randomly changing the volume (especially making the music louder) and I couldn’t get it under control. Even when changing back to zero/mute they went back up into infinity. No but seriously, there is no one else in the WiFi and I was using the Amazon Echo Dot to start the music, switched it once from the Spotify app and didn’t do anything until it suddenly started changing the volume. I‘m on an iPhone X with iOS 11.1.2, an active Spotify Account and using Play:1s and a Playbar. Also had the problem before (not just since the iPhone X or iOS 11). I have a gen 1 Play 5 speaker that has two blown speakers. The problematic speakers are the two mid range drivers that produce a decent amount of sound. As most of you know, finding replacement speakers is impossible and even buying another gen 1 Play 5 wouldn't be cost effective to replace these two speakers. I've been looking and I'm curious if the speakers inside the Play 3 are the same that's used in the Play 5. After looking at the tear down for both speakers, it appears as if they could be the same drivers after all. Does anyone know if I would have any luck using some Play 3 speakers to replace the speakers in my gen 1 Play 5?

Hi. My wife gives training, and this involves playing video files on Powerpoint Presentations. Her MacBook's internal speakers aren't loud enough, so she wants to connect the laptop to a Sonos Play:5 (using a wire) in order to use that as a speaker. We did a test at home yesterday, and then went fine. However, when she took the laptop and speaker out of the house, it didn't work - perhaps because she didn't have the Bridge or a WiFi connection? Could anyone please tell me if she is able to use a Sonos 5 as a speaker without the Bridge and WiFi, and, if so, how to do this? I'm not very technical so please keep it simple! Thanks a lot.

I have invested in sonos over the last couple of years and have been really happy with the products - but i'm disappointed that Sonos haven't produced a rechargeable speaker that can be used Outdoors in the garden. Any idea if and when this may happen in the future???
