Can i use 4 Sonos1's linked together?
Apparently the latest firmware for Sony's 2015 & 2016 models will fix the sound issues that's been plaguing us for the past few years. Certainly a welcome addition. Here's a copy of the announcement from Sony; We are pleased to announce that a new firmware update (version 3.885) will become available by network download directly onto your TV, on the 28th June 2017. The update features: Adds support for HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) HDR format via HDMI input* Reduces input lag for 4K HDR gaming* Resolves issue where the right-hand side of the screen becomes bright when changing input from HDMI (4K signal input) to Terrestrial Resolves sound skipping when using Sonos sound bar Resolves stuttering playback on Amazon video when pressing ACTION MENU or VOL+/- buttons Resolves poor video quality on BBC iPlayer when using “Watch from start” feature
When trying to add Music to SONOS, I get the error "The Computer 'Pete-iMac' refused to let Sonos connect to it". I am using the following location when I get this error: /Users/peterellison/Music/iTunes However, when I specify the default location of /Users/peterellison/Music, it works fine. I need to specifically choose the iTunes folder and not the whole Music folder, since I have music production files in my Music folder, and I don't want 50,000 WAV samples being added to SONOS. Also to note, I've tried it with my Firewall off, and I have set up my Sharing setting correctly. In addition, my iMac is new. Previously I was running SONOS on Snow Leopard OSX without any issues. Now I'm on Yosemite OSX
Yesterday I noticed that some songs I'm sure I've played before on my Sonos have become greyed out and protected. These are all recent iTunes purchases, so shouldn't be affected by the pre-2009 DRM issue. Bizarrely, one album is half protected, half not. Is it a coincidence that I installed iOS8.4 yesterday and signed up to Apple Music free trial? Any suggestions (other than paying Apple more by signing up to iMatch?).
There are many posts and request for a portable or outside speaker on ask.sonos and others for a battery powered Play 1. The Play 1 is plugged in from the bottom with a very flush and tidy fitting power lead. This makes me think and others might agree that a battery pack could be developed that works like a drill battery and plugs into the bottom of the Play 1 - maybe the power lead could also plug into the bottom of the battery pack to recharge in situ so it is seamless in design and can be used whilst recharging or if battery power is low. I would opt for a lithium-ion polymer battery as: Excerpt from wikipedia “The result is a "plastic" cell, which theoretically could be thin, flexible, and manufactured in different shapes, without risk of electrolyte leakage.”
When using my Sonos playbar+play 1+play 1 as a surround mode, it's wonderful, and no lag at all in the sound and playback. I would love to have (hard or easy) access to change settings of my Play:1 (3/5) to give full volume when watching music videos or concerts at my TV, either trough Chromecast or on TV/cable/sat - in TV mode in sonos app. I haven't found an easy way to do this, but disconnecting my two Play:1's as sperate players, bonded as a group.
Is there a reason the Sonos app is always running on my s5? When I force quit the app, it reboots almost immediately. Is anyone else experiencing this battery drain?
I don't have a television or a home theater cabinet, rather a projector/retractable screen that comes down in front of a book case. - I'd like to place the sonos playbase on the floor under the book shelf's lowest shelf. It will have no obstructions for 36 inches above it or to the left or right. Will the audio suffer for being on the floor or does it need to be elevated? - My source is not a TV or A/V receiver, rather a mac mini running PLEX. The audio will be split out from the HDMI into optical and run to the playbase. Should I anticipate audio source issues? - My rear channels will be my existing Play 3s, any issues to anticipate with these? - I have a connect:amp that connected to a record player and a pair of vintage speakers, will the playbase be able to pickup the record player as a source? Thx!
Hey all. Just want to do a quick intro and comments. I'm new to the Sonos world and wireless audio in general. Had been pretty avid audiophile some years ago and decided to look into some more affordable solutions and getting back into the music/home theater world. Really didn't want to venture back into the ultra "high end" market due to other financial obligations, but still wanted to have ability to purchase superior mid level products. I can honestly say that I am quite impressed with the Sonos product and ease of use. I've had the products for a couple weeks now and I'm completely satisfied. Well, with one exception......I need more product. Anyway, I look forward to diving into this Sonos community. Thanks. Oh I currently have Playbase, Sub, and (4) Play 1's.
I have started having connection problems on my computer. It stop responding and is slow. It works well form I-pad or IPhone.
I am a plug and play type of person, certainly no audiotechnophile (technoauddiophile?), but would like to think that I know what sounds good to my ear. I listen to many different genres, from Gregorian chants to classical Rennaissance, reggae to alt rock. I am thinking of upgrading my current SONOS 3 2-speaker system and would like some help from the community. Should I go with SONOS speakers? A subwoofer? Playbar? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hello there, I wanted to know if I am the only one with the following need: I would like a CONNECT with only digital output because I want to use my receiver DAC. Of course nothing prevents me from using the CONNECT but I was wandering if without the analog part it could be possible to make this digital-only-CONNECT cheaper and smaller. For example I was thinking as small as some modern casting/streaming devices, where you can get power directly from a nearby USB plug. Also digital out could be the usual coax/optical but it could also be HDMI and it could be possible in this way to solve another issue that I saw in the forum: having the controller to power up the rest of the equipment. With HDMI I never touch my receiver, all the other devices turn it on/off through HDMI. And it could open the potential for streaming music videos....
Hi I have a Samsung smart TV hung on the wall on one side of my kitchen. On the other side of the room I have AE aego M satellite speakers mounted on the wall plugged into a sonos connect. I would love to have the TV sound through my aego m speakers. I've thought of a USB powered Bluetooth transmitter and receiver to get the sound to my sonos connect input but realise that latency on Bluetooth will make this rubbish. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this? Thanks in advance Neil
I recently moved in with my girlfriend and we're merging our Sonos systems (but them for her for Christmas). She had her two play 1s at 7.3. My many speakers were at 7.2. Plug it all in, and the system tries to update my 7.2 speakers. Update failed with error 30, so I tried one at a time, no luck. Tried hard wiring to router, restarting router and cable modem, tried a couple of different speakers, hard reset (holding the play button down while plugging it in), none of these things worked. Any other suggestions? Thank you!
I have a Bar, Sub and 2 Play 3s configured together. I've tried using the Sonos network ("WM:0") as well as my wi-fi network. I've tried changing the wireless channel. All to no avail, so at this point, I'm not sure what to try next. The drops happen intermittently with no real pattern and last about 10 seconds. The surround speakers re-join without any action from me. Thank you in advance for any feedback or suggestions!
I've just bought a playbar, my 1st Sonos device and have to say that I'm impressed, it sounds way better than the bose stuff it's replacing. I'm wanting to slowly expand it to a 5.1 system as funds allow. What would people recommend to buy next? The sub or a couple of play 1's for the rear channels? Also I can't mount the rear speakers behind the sofa as it's up to a wall, would the sound be right if they where out to the sides around 8' high and angled down to the seating position? Cheers
Hey guys just bought a playbar. At first use I was super impressed, but when I tried it on my PS4 I can't get high volume; hell I don't get volume at all until 50% and it takes up to 80% to get anything respectable. Plus, any other audio now is weak. This is upsetting 😞. What did I do wrong??
Anyone else? I am using Yonomi to connect to SONOS, but it is quite buggy... especially if I have my zones grouped, etc. I am PATIENTLY waiting for full integration from SONOS...... hoping it is soon!:D
I have a TV sound bar and play 1 speaker. Both items were added to the Sonos system and are activated however I am unable to group them. I have Living room 1 and Room 2. When I go to either of the rooms in rooms menu it is not giving me the "group" option. I tried several times. Any ideas how to fix this problem? I have no clue why "grouping" option is not coming up in either of the rooms settings. Any help will be appreciated! Paul
I have an active network: devices being added and taken away, new sources of RF interference & neighbours changing wifi channels. A frequent piece of advice is "you must power absolutely everything in the network off and on again", or "power on and off Sonos devices". With a reasonably large house, or devices in awkward locations this can be hassle. It would be convenient if there was a remote restart switch that could cycle Sonos devices, say a "restart in X minutes".
Hi all, I've just bought a pair of Sonos Play:1 to join my growing family of Sonos products and I'm moving into a new house so while I'm doing first fix I'd like to look at some neat ways to mount and cable these speakers on the wall. I'd like to avoid seeing cables or plugs, but I dont see any creative solutions out there apart from just taking the standard power cable down through the wall to a remote socket. Hard-wiring into the wall is an option, but by the time you've got a cover plate it's going to look a little unsightly. Anyone got any creative or neat solutions? Thanks, Tom
We recently remodeled our family room, and the Sonos Playbar was a key component in the upgrade. I spent a good deal of time researching the various aspects of the remodel. I know this post is lengthy, but I wanted to include pertinent details to hopefully help others researching similar setups. Previously we had a 40” TV inside a TV armoire, with an inexpensive surround system, bluray player, and cable box all in the same armoire. When remodeling the room, we decided that having the TV above the fireplace would work best with regards to room dynamics. However, there were two issues created by that decision: 1. I wasn’t crazy about the prospect of staring up at the TV constantly (being an Optometrist, I am keenly aware how eye position relates to eyestrain and headaches)., 2. I wasn’t going to accept the poor quality sound from most TV speakers. However, there was now nowhere in the family room to keep the A/V components, including a sound system. Problem #1 was solved with
I didn't see this anywhere else in the community. If it's already listed somewhere feel free to remove it. For anyone who is using their Play 5 Gen 2 speakers without floor stands and have them setting on a desk or counter this newly released Flexson Play 5 (Gen2) Desktop Stand are worth a look. When I purchased the Sonos Gen2 Play 5’s (configured in stereo pair w/Sonos Sub) no stands were available. Therefore, I purchased two garden style Marble Top Tables (27.75 H x 10.75 W x 10.75 D / Marble Top 0.5 H x 11 W x 11 D). Measurements are in inches. By the time Flexson introduced upright stands for the Play 5 Gen2 speaker I’d resigned myself to stick with the Marble Top Tables (which my wife liked better anyway). Then I happened upon the Flexson Desk Top Stands for the Play 5. IMO they are well built and sturdy. Capable of sustaining the angle you set them to under the weight of a Play 5 Gen2 speaker. They even have a laser cut finish that exposes the aluminum which runs across
I have a single play 5 and don't intend to buy another one. Is buying the sonos subwoofer overkill or worth it. Thank you. Frank.
