I recently replaced my 5.1 PLAYBAR set-up with a new Denon home theater system. I now get HDMI audio, DTS and HD audio support. I no longer use optical audio and can use any blu-ray player I choose. If I type up a full write-up of the switch I performed, pros & cons etc. would anybody be interested?
Just bought from b&h a new sonos sub to add to my play 1s. When delivered I noticed the sonos box to be damaged on one corner. Once unpackaged I noticed the sub also was damaged on one corner. A breif test seems like the sub is okay, but not sure if a year of booming bass may cause problems. My question is should I just ask for a new unit, or does this seem completely cosmetic and perhaps I could negotiate a discount and also circumvent the wait and exchange process.
Sonos is now available on Costco.com at a discounted price. Intro bundle $1099!
Amazon echo just linked all speekers just like sono's. I think if sonos dont pull there finger out i will get more amazon echos instead of sonos a lot cheeper sounds not as good but. they said they would launch voice control early 2017 still waiting
I've read several articles which have that stated that Sonos is a closed proprietary ecosystem. That's not entirely accurate. In my family room, I have two 8" KRK Rokit monitors connected to a Sonos Connect (They Rok!) In my living room I have two 5" KRK Rokit's connected to another Sonos Connect, and my TV. So using a Connect or Connect Amplifier allows you to connect to most speakers. That doesn't seem proprietary to me! I also have a Play 1 in my sun room, and a Play 1 in my bedroom, for occasional listening. They sound awesome for the price point.
Hi.. Someone who knows how to delete a speaker completely so i Can reinstall it Can only separate Pairs but my problem is i have 4 speaker to move and pair togethers as on unit.
I have several Sonos speaker systems throughout our home. We also have direct wired speakers running into a Sonos Amp in a part of our home. The rest of the home is wired to a Russound A H4D Hub. In order to connect our Sonos system to that Hub, I need to use Analog In & Out jacks. Can I put a Sonos Connect between our Sonos Amp and the Hub? If so, how will I control the music system using my Sonos Ap?
I recently added a Playbar to my home setup. Playbar is optically connected to a Sony BRAVIA XBR‑55X930D. I have frequent dropouts of audio from multiple sources input to the TV. TW Cable audio signals dropout, DVD audio signals occasionally drop out, etc. The issue self resolves most of the time, but sometimes requires a channel change to regain audio. Its quite annoying with a new product. Not sure if this is a software issue, TV issue or general Playbar issue. Any suggestions?
Hi I currently have the sonos playbar, moving house and renovating it. I am looking at putting speakers in the bathroom ceiling and kitchen ceiling, linking them to the sonos system. Could someone please advise on the best options available?
Hi all, I am still within the 100 day return period (just). I must say I really like the Sonos way, i.e. how simple it is to set up and use; the music services it supports; the sound. But I am getting what might be called "codec anxiety". As I believe we all know, Sonos only supports Dolby 5:1. I recently tried to play a Blu Ray disc which turned out to only have DTS as it's English audio track, and got no sound. Have I made a mistake in buying the Sonos, where their competitors seem to offer better future proofing. Others comments would be interesting to hear.
Hi. I'm looking to set up a system and am having some trouble deciding between multiple Sonos Amps or a Sonos Connect and a separate 6 zone amplifier. I own a Sonos PlayBar and a Sonos Amp. They are used in a room in which I'm about to install in wall speakers for the rear channels for 5:1 sound. I have 5 other rooms that have ancient/broken in wall/in ceiling speakers which I'm replacing. All wiring drops down to a central point. I'd like to have 5:1 sound in the theater room and plan to use the bar, sub and in wall rears there. I'd like whole house audio capability in the other rooms and live Sonos interface, simplicity, etc. Top priority is ease of use for family. Not too distant second priority is price but have some flexibility here. Third priority is neat features (playing different music in rooms, adjusting volume separately, etc.). Can/should I be thinking about multiple Sonos Amps or can/should I effectively do this with a Connect and a six zone amplifier? Other con
Good morning :-) Is anyone using miniDSP devices with a Sonos Connect? If so, are you still able to achieve sync with other sonos speakers or does the miniDSP add delay to the music playback? I am thinking the following scenario: Sonos Connect (optical / coaxial out) => MiniDsp device (e.g. miniDSP 2x4 HD) => Amplifier line in => Speakers Speculating that the Dsp device will add some delay at least but not sure if this is bad enough to lead to out of sync playback with the rest of my sonos speakers (play 1, Play 5). Any experiences with the above? Cheers Yiannis
SONOS could be more forthright if they would indicate the changes in the Updated Privacy Statement. If customers want to know the changes we have to print up both and search for differences. A cool company like SONOS - great product and great customer service - should not behave like soulless corporations and not be clear about changes. But I fear that lawyers who do not ever think about customers or their needs are probably given full control of this sort of important communication. SONOS - please don't allow yourself to morph into the worst of corporate behavior. Please have your coolness extend to notifications. Thank you for your time.
Wanted to share this with the community in case others are looking for answers. I recently purchased a Sonos 5.1 setup and unbeknownst to me there are some specific things to look for to get 5.1 audio to the Sonos system which are discussed at length on this forum. I wanted to be specific to a setup in case others have the same. Luckily, my Sony Bravia KDL60W630B passes through Dolby Digital 5.1 sound from HDMI inputs to the optical out. They key is ensuring the TV and source systems are configured to pass the right type of audio. The only thing you need to do on the TV is ensure the audio settings are configured to output to "AUDIO SYSTEM". HOME->SETTINGS->AUDIO->SPEAKERS->AUDIO SYSTEM. I've ready that many recent (last 5 years or so?) Sony TVs will pass 5.1 through optical from HDMI. Sony support will gladly answer this question for your specific model. My cable box (u-verse) is now set to output Surround Sound (it was set to stereo before) and on most channels my Sonos
Configuration: iMac with line out to Play 5 speaker paired with another Play 5 and sometimes grouped with PlayBar and Sub. Autoplay is set to off. At any random time while music is playing the speakers will shut off. I have to open the controller and press stop then play again to turn them back on. This happens a few times a day and is rather frustrating.
Audio delayed/out while watching Netflix, diagnostic confirmation number:7784635,joined beta update, still my playbar has version 7.4, please update to 7.4.1..
Hi, we first got a sonos 1 and we where very pleased with good sound. We then bought sonos 3 and 5 but the sound is very flat, i gues the settings is wrong or something but i just cant find a solution. Do you have any tips ??
Just wondering if I should wait for an updated version. Does anyone know when it might be out? Thanks!
Has anyone took their Connect apart to drill some vent holes for better ventilation on the top? Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

I am about to hire a projector to use to watch a movie but I am wondering if there is any way I can connect sonos to use for the sound of the movie? Kathy
Hello there i added a playbar and instantly thought the volume was very very quiet at almost full volume. Then i had a idea about the optical volume setting. I checked the optical settings for my Samsung tv and found that the optical setting was set to maximum. So I then set it to -10. And then factory reset my playbar and went threw the pairing procedure again for the play bar. This has made the volume way louder and by then going to optical volume in tv and setting it to maximum again added extra volume. So if you think your playbar is low on volume try setting optical volume to minimum and reset up your paybar.
I bought the Sonos Soundbar, the Sonos Subwoofer, and two Play:3 speakers as surround sound speakers. As others posting reviews here and elsewhere have pointed out, Sonos wants you to use your TV as a hub, with all the inputs from your devices (Apple TV, Cable, etc.) going to the TV and then the optical audio out from the TV to the Playbar. However, most TV's won't pass Dolby Digital (DD) 5.1 surround from HDMI to the digital/optical audio (i.e., the Playbar), so what you get in most cases is stereo with muted simulated surround sound that is NOT surround sound from your surround speakers. After reading numerous reviews and comment boards on many websites, I tried (and was successful) with the following solution: I purchased a Shin Kin 4x2 Remote Control Digital Optical TOSlink Audio Fiber Optic Selector Switch Switcher Splitter (currently sold on Amazon for approximately $69.95). I connected each of my devices (I have Apple TV and DirectTV) to the "Optical Input" switches (calle
It appears to be true! Check this out - https://www.engadget.com/2017/08/28/sonos-alexa-speaker/
I have the folowing. Playbar. Sub. 2 play 1's in rears. I had frustrations with voice quality at high volumes in competition with explosions and other loud events. These settings work really well. 0 issues since. Give it a try.
