I setup my new Beam today as a sound bar on my TCL Roku television. Everything seemed to be working fine until the volume started randomly jumping up to a very high level on its own. It happened about 4 times in 1 hour. Has anyone else had this problem?
Whenever I get a new speaker my test is always Bjork, Hunter... this track is brilliant because its really punchy with lots of layers but the beats flow from left to right at the start of the track. Listen to this on a stereo paired play one and youll be amazed, they fly across the room and you wamt to move your head to follow the beats... Received my beam yestersay and after it was all set up and i did the trueplay etc i gave it a go, there was no feeling of the music going from side to side at all, just felt like it was all coming from the middle. Quite dissapointed in this to be honest after reading reviews suggesting that the playbar has speakers on the sides which does a good job of this. Maybe it will get better once trueplay tunes a bit more? But i doubt it... Any chance a software upgrade could be applied in the future to fix this do you think?
Hi all, I just wanted to chime in with my experience. I have received my Beam a couple of days ago (international shipping took a bit of time; Beam is not sold in my country, unfortunately) and installed it as part of a 5.1 system (with a Sub and two Ones). Setup was very easy --- I had a Sony soundbar connected via HDMI ARC, so I just disconnected it and replaced it with the Beam. The TV recognized the Beam immediately. So, setup was pretty smooth. The only snag was that I had to re-add my Sub and Ones, rather than add the Beam to an existing Sonos setup. Reading the forum, I was worried I might have lip sync problems. I am happy to report that the lip sync is, so far, perfect. I use an Apple TV 4K for all my content. It is configured to output Dolby 5.1 sound. The TV is in Cinema Pro mode; this turns off most of the processing modern TVs like to do to "improve" the picture (I think most such processing does the exact opposite). In particular, this ensures the TV does not "inv
New hear. I’ve been trying to find an answer to my question for 2 days now. Did my homework, but still can’t find an answer. I recently purchased a beam and 2 One’s, connected to my TV through the HDMI ARC port. For some reason, there is a slight, super annoying echo when I’m watching TV. The echo only happens when I try and group the paired Ones to the beam. Not sure if this bit of info is helpful, but I decided not to add the Ones as sureounds, because I found them to be way to quiet. I’ve triple checked that the TV’s internal speakers are off. I’ve tried what seems to be everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I cannot get audio from my PS4 to my Beam. I'm connected from Beam to the ARC HDMI on my TV and HDMI from PS4 to TV. Have both set up for PCM and have tried all other combos. This seems like it should be so simple but nothing has worked and Google/YouTube have been no help.
I want to purchase a sound bar with extra speakers and a sky Q system. Will this work/ be compatible if the Sound bar plugs in directly to the tv and not the Sky Q. The Sky Q box will be in a different room to the TV. The Sky Q box will be connected to the TV by a Cat5 cable if this makes any difference. I assume the sound will work if I play Netflix or Amazon through the TV as well?? Thanks
Is the Dual XPR84D 2/1 High Performance Power MOSFET Class D 1000w Amplifier any good? I just bought an open box one for $55 dollars on Ebay.
I contacted customer service to see if I could send my Play5 in for repair. I told them that I thought it had stopped working due to water damage and this is the response I got: Thank you for contacting Sonos Customer Care. Unfortunately, we won't be able to accept the PLAY:5 back for repair or replacement once water damage has been done to the unit. I was perfectly willing to pay for a repair or a refurb replacement but no such solution was offered. It's a shame, Sonos is turning away my money and firing me as a customer. If this is the service we can expect, my next wifi speaker will be an Apple HomePod. #disappointed
With the new BEAM talking all about "sound", don't you think it's time Sonos, to add .wav and hi-res file playback capability to your products? If all you're concerned about is streaming, and there's no regard for people with higher quality files, then let's dispense with the Sound Quality invested in BEAM per the email solicit I just received which is shown below. Hey, I think Sonos is a decent product (despite the two plus years of constant drop-out problems, not totally figured out yet), but come on, let's get real. If you can't get Wave and Hi-Res files as part of the system, then really all you care about is streaming and Alexis and that's where your product is, and will continue to go. Giving up support for the dock (which can play wave through a classic iPod if it's docked), is inexcusable - especially if you don't support it in the last iPods sold (which you can still get in 120GB model from Apple as of July 2018) in not being able to play wave. Just one man's opinion who c
Smaller Sonos PlayBar for those with smaller TV's and rooms - and partners who don't like technology dominating the room!. Say one with 5 speakers and around a half metre wide would be good. I know it's a compromise but it would still vastly improve the sound quality of a TV's speakers and the (most important) separation of action noise over speach.
I cant remember If it was update 8.6 which brought sound enhancement for playbase. Anyways, i skipped my playbase after i had a listen to playbar. The playbar is just more pleasent and sort/rounder in its sound. Shortly after this update arrived and i havent had a chance to hear the playbase afterwards. So those of you with playbase - are the playbase better at this stage?
My iTunes music listening scheme relies on play count being updated and Sonos didn’t support that so I wasn’t a Sonos user. But we got a Playbase as a sound bar for our TV and liked it a lot and enjoyed the streaming functionality. Since Airplay 2 support - which would allow me to stream directly from iTunes like I do the Airplay speakers I had - came out, I decided to pick up a Sonos One to play with. Airplay directly from iTunes, and Sonos streaming capability - best of both worlds, right? I set my shiny new Sonos One up today and…hit an unexpected snag. If I would play music using iTunes to my computer speakers and using Airplay to also stream to the Sonos One at the same time - the play counts in my Smart Playlists would NOT be updated. However, if I started streaming to a second non-Sonos Airplay speaker (so, computer speakers, Sonos One and an additional Airplay speaker), the play counts WILL be updated. So: Airplay to Sonos - no play count update. Airplay to Sonos +
I am using an LG TV and I would like to play the TV audio through 2 Play 1's and I do not have a Playbar. I do however have a Sonos Connect.
Playing music through Apple Music > AirPlay 2 > Sonos One’s I have no drop outs. But when I select the Sonos One’s though the Apple TV, it’ll buffer then play which is understandable, but the audio will intermittently drop out every 5-10 minutes or so for about 1-3 seconds. CNN and Netflix has this issue so far, HBO Go seems stable enough but has its moments every now and then. I’ve had one instance of sync being off, but a pause/play fixed that. I love that AirPlay 2 has arrived but I think some bugs need to be ironed out. Any solutions for this so far? I’ve read about checking WiFi channels etc but no dice, thanks for any info. Look forward to updates for Apple TV streaming. Diagnostic #827816102
Sonos can we have a setting which can be set to stop maximum volume getting accidentally turned up
I'm finding the range of voices vs explosion etc in action movies so wide that I can hardly hear voices but explosions are earth shaking. I realize this may be the way the movie is intended but would expect voices to clearer. Turning on Speech Enhancement does not help much and night mode just crushes all detail of the range. My Sony TV does have a sound setting to adjust the Dolby Dynamic range to Standard or Compressed. Currently it's set at Standard I'm going to try Compressed but wondering if anyone else had similar experience. I find this is an issue more with my Apple TV and tv built Netflix App
Can’t get 5.1 surround out of Xbox for Blu-rays on Beam. HDMI-Audio: Stereo: works 5.1 (uncompressed) -„Not supported by Audio Receiver“ What do I need to do?
This is just to express how pumped-up I am about the decision to switch from Bose Sound Touch wifi multi-room speakers to Sonos Play 1 and Play 3 (total of 4 speakers) and at the same time I want give credit to Sonos for making such awesome products! Some of you may know that Bose released in Mid May 2018 "security update" for their multi-room range of speakers marketed as Sound Touch - this firmware update literally bricked vast majority of the speakers used in wifi mode essentially disabling the multi-room feature called "Play all". I have in good faith collected logs from my 3 Bose ST speakers 18-times and shared them with Bose engineering team to reproduce, troubleshoot and fix. I was naive. It's been more than 9 weeks since the bad firmware crippled the speakers and yet Bose has not figured out to fix it, they won't allow anyone to roll-back to previous version of fw and advise that people upgrade their wifi routers instead! - just craaaaazy...:( No ETA, no "we are sorry", noth
I preorded the beam and I love it. Couple issues I am having a hard time understanding and I think it is my cheap-o TV. My Vizio M65-E0 4k HDR TV only has 1 4K input which is also the only input that supports ARC. Now, I currently have it set up using the provided HDMI to TOSLINK cable and it sounds great but I am not getting any sound from my two rear Play 1's when watching TV. No audio at all. So i figured I would sacrifice the PS4 and the DirecTV box and only use the XBOX One X for my 4k. Well, since the beam doesn't have a passthrough, I don't think I can even do that. Just making sure I am not missing something here. For now I think I am stuck with the current setup I have. At least untill I can get a new TV with more HDMI input options.
Hi there, I setup the new beam last night and got it working no problem, issue is with lip sync when watching either Netflix / NOW Tv or through our Virgin TV V6 box. I have an LG 42LB585V-ZM TV and have the Beam connected via ARC. Have tried tweeking settings as suggested to try and sync them but it's not getting close, it's quite annoying. Any ideas on how to resolve it or should i just swap to the optical out? Thanks in advance. Ross
About a month ago we purchased a pair of Sonos play 1s to use as a stereo pair and a Play 3. They (the system) has been nothing but a PITA. They regularly cut out for no reason that we can determine. Sometimes they will come back on, often the units have to be turned off and back on to reset. Often, in the middle of playing a song (all songs are stored on the computer/iPhone/ipad - not streamed from the internet) suddenly the message will come up that it's not able to access the song it is playing and will quit. Of course, the shop were we bought them raved about how good these speakers are but they are, IMO, nearly useless. I had originally planned to buy wired speakers and a bluetooth adapter for the amp, which we use with no issues at all in another location. I fell for the hype that the WiFi provided better fidelity than bluetooth. That MAY be true in theory but slightly lower fidelity that is RELIABLE is orders of magnitude better than slightly better fidelity that fails
Hi everyone, This is my setup: Philips 55PUS7303 Apple TV 4K XBOX One Sonos Beam + 2x Sonos Play:1 as rear speakers connected with HDMI cable This is the situation: Watching regular TV from TV receiver works fine Using Apps like Netflix and Prime Video from TV with 5.1 Dolby works fine Using Apps from Apple TV (Netflix, Prime Video, iTunes) with 5.1 Dolby works fine Here is the problem: Many blu-rays only have DTS HD audio on the disc. On the TV I set „Multichannel (Bypass)“ from the options: Multichannel - Same result as for Multichannel (Bypass) Dolby Digital Plus - No Sound from Sonos Stereo (uncompressed) - Stereo Multichannel (Bypass) - Works but not in synch and on the XBOX One I can chose: Bitstream Format: DTS Digital Surround - Selectable but no Sound from Sonos Dolby Digital - Selectable but Video Signal before Sound Signal Dolby Atmos for Home Theater - Message „Not supported by Audio Receiver HDMI-Audio: Stereo (uncompressed) - Soun
How do I shuffle stations in sonos favorites? I have favorites from many sources (My music library, Spotify, Pandora)
I bought a Beam yesterday, and took it back for a refund two hours later! Seems neither of my Panasonic TVs pass Dolby Digital received via HDMI back to the ARC (my newer Sony TV does). I already have two Play 1s in the bedroom and thought the Beam would be ideal for 5.0 sound, but could only hear anything when inputing non Dolby signal to the TV, hence non surround sound to Sonos. Alternative would have been a direct optical link from the (Sky Q) set top box, but then I'm instantly limiting myself to one device and won't be able to hear anything from the TV's built in apps over Sonos. Again optical from TV to Sonos would give the same results as ARC as the telly won't receive Dolby through HDMI at all (even playing through own speakers). I know Panasonic are non existent in the US but are common elsewhere, and have seen lots of people moan about how they handle Dolby audio. So it seems my options are, use the Beam without surround sound (defies the point of me setup), only have
How do I prevent "audio out" message from showing up when I change the volume on my Samsung TV?
