Hi, Myself and many other users have commented on how low and poor sounding dialogue is when watching movies (especially at lower volumes) in dolby 5.1 from any source. The speaker centre channel is not balanced in terms of volume. I and many others are constantly turning up trying to hear speech and then down when predicting something loud is about to occur. There's many topics on here about it, just do a quick search to see. I really hope something can be done about it. Have the option to annoy hell out of neighbours or simply not hear dialogue that well. Maybe something can be done to increase the volume of centre channel when using 5.1 or improve the speech enhancement that doesn't make that much difference. Either way this issue was with soundbars and cheap 5.1 systems back in early 2000s. Thought Sonos would be ahead of the times here and have options to improve it. You have night mode which makes things sound worse due to removal of bass etc, maybe have some dynamic rang
How can I create different groups with the surround speakers in my living room? It seems that because they are already in the "living room" group, I cannot create a new group with the play 1 speakers. I would love to be able to use them independently as well, not just a supplement to my playbar and sub.
Love my Sonos One but didn't realize how crippled Alexa is with its routines and such. Is there any info whether the Google Assistant will also be half-working or will it have full functionality? I might have to migrate to either full Alexa or Google if that's not the case. I'm getting fed up with Sonos and the "not yet supported on this device" bs.
Just a quick question. Couldn't find the answer in the forum, yet. Is it possible to hook up a TV (4k), a turntable and a PS4 pro to the new to be introduced Sonos Amp in February 2019? My own research told me that I can link a turntable via the "white and red" port and a TV via HDMI ARC port. Then I'm left with my PS4. Currently, I have it connected to my TV. So in theory, this must transmit the audio signal via the TV through the HDMI ARC port to the Sonos Amp and then to my bookshelf speakers? Right? Or will this result in delays. Is this setup supported? I appreaciate your input, thanks!
This thread is like a mixture of a conversation and a question. I recently bought the new Sonos Beam, and started experimenting with surround sound. And before you go out and buy one; if you use a PC to game through your TV - you might have a problem. Now, the issue is you can't get Dolby Digital surround sound from using an Nvidia GPU (AMD, I am not sure). You're strictly locked to stereo, unless you have an Nvidia Quadro GPU or a very unique TV. But, chances are you don't as Quadro's cost multiple thousands of pounds and all the TV's I know supplement the issue. So, what platforms pass in delivering Dolby Digital surround sound? Xbox/PS4: PASS Blu-ray player: PASS TV built in apps: PASS PC gaming with Nvidia GPU: FAIL So, I plugged the HDMI in from my PC (GTX 1080Ti) to the TV (Sony 43" XE7073). Then, the TV will re-route the signal to the Beam. And there is nothing wrong with any of the hardware from the PC to the speakers in delivering 5.1 Dolby Digital surround s

After the last update, the Sonos app on my Pixel 2 (Android 8.1.0) has been the single biggest battery drain, causing a noticeable reduction in my battery life at the end of the day. It says most of the usage is foreground usage, even though I know that's not the case as I rarely actually use it on my phone. While on the subject, the 8.6 version on my PC (Win 😎 has started struggling to find speakers, and when it does it doesn't report what's on them correctly (says no music playing, when there is). If I try to change it to something else, that works and all looks OK for a while again...
Stopped connecting to wifi absolute garbage technology
I purchased two new speakers and when I went to add them I had to update the sonos program. After the update the "add speaker" selection is missing. Both on PC and on my iPad. How do we add new speakers now?
Maybe I'm nuts and there wouldn't be demand for this, but I would love to be able to pop a Play:1 on a battery stand and take it out back when we have a BBQ. It would probably be about 2 inches tall, and could be wider than the Play:1 to give it good balance. The Play:1 really is designed for this, with the power input on the bottom, it would be easy. I'm also surprised there isn't a third party hack to do this - unless I'm wrong? If Alibaba doesn't have it, it probably doesn't exist. Thoughts? Am I out in left field on this? I know it would have to be connected to wifi, but in this day and age, that's not a challenge for many people, to just get a bit of wifi coverage in their backyard.
Got a Sonos Beam a couple months ago, set it up, everything worked perfectly for a while. I added two play:1s the other day, and since then the audio output has been weirdly inconsistent from the TV. Even when you manually switch the Sonos to TV audio, no sound comes out, and the 'About my Sonos System' reads 'Audio in: silent'. One thing I've found that fixes this is going to the Hisense settings and cycling the Digital Audio Out setting through RAW/Dolby/Off until it 'unsticks' and starts outputting audio again. Any ideas? I would've thought this was a TV bug, but it seems odd that it just started recently. I guess the only thing that's changed is I'm now using RAW output, as it does 5.1, whereas Dolby does 2.0.
So if I have used the Sonos cloud API to connect my Sonos account to a 3rd party service or app, how do I revoke that permission?
Hi, I have got: 1x Sonos play1 in bedroom 1x sonos play1 in kitchen 1x beam + 2 Sonos play1 in living room Sometimes I experience Spotify or tunein blackouts while Sonos support can't understand the problem. Se times they say wifi interference sometimes problem is Spotify... Today they told me that using Sonos with Google wifi needs 1 speaker connected wired to router. Of course because I have 1 Google wifi this is obviously wrong. Now... I see Google wifi logs and see only 1 speaker receiving the audii stream. So I understand that to sync speakers Sonos use its own protocol independently of my wifi good or bad. So my questions are: - if I have good wifi coverage it is still possible that it doesn't work because Sonos internally uses its own protocol on the same network band? If this is true I can work to make the best wifi in life but if Sonos internal communication is bad, because of my environment I don't solve anything. - wifi mesh configurations like Goo
Sonos App->Living Room-> Tv Remote setup As per the instructions i pressed Volume + button and tried to sync up. It is not working. what is the issue ? I have the below TV samsung 65 4K SUHD LED LCD TV (UN65KS800DFXZA)
Hello. Today I swapped out my netgear router for a new Google Wifi system. I kept the network name the same. Every other network device in the house worked correctly with no changes. The Sonos controller on my mac works fine, as does my old touchscreen sonos controller, and so does the Sonos App on my android phone. However, none of my Ios devices (ipad or iphoe) work. It can not find the system and when I hit the buttons for it to connect it doesn't do anything. The android device found the system immediately with no issues. It feels like this is an Ios issue and not a sonos network issue, but looking for help. Thanks.
Has anyone else experienced this? Since upgrading my Sonos app yesterday (7/11/18) for the Airplay 2 update, I no longer see the lock screen controls during playback - and neither can I adjust the playback volume using my iPhone volume buttons.
Really confused by this. I can play music over AirPlay from my iPhone or iPad to my Sonos just fine. MixCloud example here: But on my Mac (which is on the same - and only - wifi network) iTunes and Spotify can find it but no sound comes out of my Sonos, In iTunes, if I set it to play sound out of both my Mac's internal speakers and my Sonos, sound only comes out of the Mac not the Sonos: Other apps such as QuickTime Player can't find Sonos at all: Under System Preferences - Sound - I can correctly see my Sonos Living Room group. I have of course restarted all devices & the computer. All software is up to date. What do I need to do to get my Sonos working on ALL apps on my Mac? i.e. (1) sound playing on the ones that can find it and (2) finding Sonos in all desktop apps. Setup: Sonos One & Sonos Play:1 (grouped as "Living Room") iMac 27" iPhone 8 iPad 6
Looking for support for Sonos to create a 5-band equalizer rather than the simple bass/treble sliders. Fantastic engineering behind the products...can’t be too hard to implement more user-defined listener preferences. Anybody with me?
Hi all, I currently own the Beam, which has proved to be a great purchase so far! Very happy! I want to add two Sonos Ones into the living room and link them up as L+R surround speakers for watching TV with the Beam. Does anyone know how this configuration performs when listening to music (Spotify in my case), not the TV. Will the Sonos Ones work as a stereo pair or will the Beam still act as the main speaker? I know I'll be able to reconfigure the setup via the app to make the Sonos Ones act as a stereo pair (essentially forgetting they're part of the surround setup), but I don't want to be resetting on the app every time I go from watching TV to listening to music. Apologies if this is an obvious question, I'm new to Sonos and want to ensure it'll do what I need before convincing the other half that this is something we really need to do! 🙂 Thanks all!
After updating to version 8.3 the Sonos app rapidly drains the battery on an iPhone SE running iOS 11.2.5 (42% of all battery usage in the last 24 hours, overall to cca 40%, so 25% of battery capacity goes just for Sonos used for 4 minutes foreground and 1 minute background (!)). Lock screen controls is Off (since this was suggested as a possible cause in a number of places). I have also tried deleting and reinstalling the app: same behaviour. Before the update Sonos battery usage was only a few percent. Nothing else has changed. I uploaded the diagnostics 8420376. Sonos "solution" has been very helpful: "We have been investigating reports from customers who are perceiving high battery usage by the Sonos app on their iOS 10 devices. The data has now been analysed and we have determined the battery usage to be reading as expected. Our only advice to customers who do not agree with this is to force stop the app when it is not in use."
I created a daily 6:00 PM alarm a few days ago in a room that I have since deleted from my Sonos system. The original room was called Living Room 1 and that room no longer exist. Now I get notices on all my IOS devices that the alarm has gone off. How can I delete this alarm?
My Sonos Beam is randomly turning off my TV. I had to do some digging and troubleshooting, but I have discovered that the TV Auto Play is the culprit that is randomly turning my TV off. I have turned the AutoPlay off and I do not have any issues. That said, I do want the beam to auto play when the TV is turned on in lieu of having to go into the app to do so. My kids don't have the app and unless they do, the TV sound wont come out of the beam. Any ideas? TV: OLED C7 - 65" Sonos Beam Connection - ARC port
Does anyone know if a new and updated playbar is under way soon with updated software and Airlink similar to the Beam?
Hi, Pioneer is offering this AV receiver and announces that it can be used as a Sonos device with Sonos connect and a firmware update. Has anyone here tried this receiver?
Can someone help me to figure out how to confirm my 2 Play1s are working/installed properly with my Beam? I'm sure there's a way to check on the Sonos app, but I need help. When I put my ear to the play1s, as a movie is playing, there's sound from the beam (playbar) but it doesn't seem there is sound coming from the play1s. My 2 play1s are located on each side of my tv, with the Beam in the middle below my tv. How do I check this? Thanks! PS--I have had a Play1 for sometime in another room, but only for music. Second, can anyone point me a link on how to setup my beam & 2 play1s with my Amazon Fire Stick that has Alexa?
