Just saw this tonight relating to possible new Sonos products can anyone shed any more light on this ? Sonos wants to know if you’d pay $700 for wireless Atmos speakers The leaked survey also showed a new, cheaper subwoofer https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2019/1/10/18176624/sonos-dolby-atmos-reddit-survey-sonos-core-sub
Syncing TV remote and iPhone / iPad with Sonos Beam. I have recently set up a Sonos Beam. the initial setup was pretty straightforward and i adjusted the speaker settings on my Sony TV to external Audio. This gave me volume control of the beam with my tv remote. I can also control the beam volume with my iPad / iPhone. Worked great for a bit, then the volume on the beam control started being a bit crazy. If i turned the volume on the tv remote to minimum, i would still get audio at a reasonably loud volume from the beam. If i turned the volume control on my iPhone to minimum, the volume level on the tv woul dbe at a reasonably loud level. (see photos). Sometimes I have the volume on the tv remote at 80 (out of 100) which is incredibly loud on the internal tv audio, but on the beam it is barely a whisper and barely audible. also on the iPhone sonos control, if i set it to full, the beam is barely audible at times, and at other times it is deafening.................Any ideas? Also the ba
New hardware idea: I would love an attractive, wireless physical volume knob that could be wall mounted with screws, or just attached to a piece of furniture with double sided tape. The knob would be configured to control volume on one or more locations. For instance, I have ceiling speakers in the bathroom. Would be nice to crank the volume or mute it with this hardware.
Well, Audible is working great. The Alexa skill is working great. I would love to see Trueplay added to Android. I know there must me a solution (e.g. add-on microphone).
Equipment: * 2018 Sony A8F (https://www.sony.com/electronics/televisions/a8f-series) * Sonos Beam * Sonos sub * 2 Sonos One as rear surround * Connected via HDMI ARC on input 3 of the Sony TV * Xbox One X Software: * Android TV (7.x) * Youtube I have the equipment and software described above and I AM able to experience Dolby Digital 5.1 from Netflix on my Sony Android TV app, However I am only getting stereo input sent to the Sonos Beam from: * The Sony Android TV youtube app when running every type of Dolby Digital surround test * From the Xbox One X I've tried sound set to Auto 1 and Auto 2 on the Sony, but this doesn't change things. On the Xbox, I have it set to output Dolby Digital 5.1. I've looked through these forums and didn't get a quick answer. The biggest thing I've determined is that the Beam only supports PCM and 5.1 (not DD+, Atmos, DTS, DTS:X). Of course 5.1 is all it can support in this set up, but I can't seem to figure out how to fo
Sort-of just for fun, but I am curious how many Sonos devices do you own, and what does your setup look like? I feel I have developed a bit of an addiction with more than 14 in my 4-bedroom home, ha! I tell my wife "some folks get tattoos, I get SONOS". Curious what the rest of the community has in their setup 🙂
Can anyone tell me if I can pair two Play:1 in order to get a better stereo image with the power of a Play:5? Do you think this will work? Should the five be a mono central speaker? Thanks in advance I'm a total newbie :$:)
I hooked up my playbar and hard wired it to my router after I had hooked up a wireless play 1. I would prefer to use the Sonos Mesh network how can I verify its setup this way?
Hi all, I’m hoping you can help me out with a sound query. I’ve just got a Beam which sounds great on Netflix and Prime video, but flat when playing DTS Blu Rays through my PS3. I didn’t know that Sonos doesn’t support DTS so I only get stereo sound, which is disappointing. Having read quite a few threads on various forums I’m none the wiser as to a solution. Seems the Beam’s lack of optical input means I can’t split the audio like Playbar users can. Is there a workaround, as I still like my Blu Rays and naturally want the best sound from them. Thanks in advance.
Hi guys, first post here. I’m considering changing the setup in my lounge but wondering just how good the Play ONE can sound in a pair? I currently have a Play:1 in the office, a Play ONE in the bedroom, Connect in the lounge ( going into Cyrus amp, CA DAC and PSB speakers) and Play:3 in the garage. I’m considering the change more for practical reasons as my current system sounds very good. Just wondering how a pair of ONE’s may compare to the Connect and Cyrus/PSB setup. Or would adding another Play:3 and pairing them be a better option? Thanks in advance
Can the cable provided with the Sonos Beam be used as a regular HDMI cable? Somehow in my mind I wonder if the provided cable only works for ARC audio since the cable diameter is smaller than any of the other HDMI cables I've recently purchased (HDMI2). I also am mystified why there seems to be no way of distinguishing the various classes of HDMI cable (ARC, Ethernet, HDMI2, etc.) and data transfer speed capability. I've never seen any markings on any of the HDMI cables so how do I know if I have HDMI or HDMI2 or etc. Is seeing that it doesn't work the only method? And I am not sure what would manifest itself as not working. Drop outs/no data connectivity/etc.?
Hello all - I know the AMP is new, so I'm hoping someone can help here. I don't know if I have things set up optimally, so please bare with me as I describe my setup and issues. Current Room Setups - multiple Sonos One's thoughout the house (dining, kitchen, bathroom, and Beam+Sub in bedroom. Room in Question - Living Room - 2 Play 5's functioning as L/R channel pair, plus 1 Sub - 1 New AMP as Line In Selector for: - 1 ARC from TV - 1 Line input from Record player (not yet connected) - Note* I'm not using the AMP for any traditional speakers, so nothing is hooked up to the banana plugs Configuration: - I created a "room" for the Play 5's and the Sub, and a separate room for the AMP. I did not find anyway to add to Play 5's as Stereo mains in the AMP setup, only configurable as surrounds or a sub. Due to this, I'm playing the AMP room, and the Play 5's room grouped together. Here are my questions: - TV Volume control: When I use the remote on the TV
Hey everyone I’m new to the community and have a few questions. 1. I’m going to be getting bowers and Wilkins 603 s3 floorstansing speakers for 2 channel music but it will Also be hooked into my tv. Would the Sonos amp be a good pair with those speakers? 2. During the set up for the amp, does it allow me to set the speakers as “small”?. I know I can manually set the Sonos subwoofers crossover, but can I let the speakers play only the high frequencies or will it force to to play them at full range?
Hi, have a sonso connect amp and KEF Ventura 6. Need a outdoor sub. I cant find any good outdoor sub, but maybe a car sub would be ok? But then i need a litle amp to that. Anybody that have a outdoor sub connected to sonos connect amp?
Hi all, I own a project turntable that I'm running through an AV amp on my living room to 2 X monitor audio RX6s. I'm look to "Sonos" up my life! In the living room I plan to swap the AV amp for a Beam, and eventually upgrade with a sub & 2x Play:1s (maybe on black Friday!). The question I have is that I plan to move the turntable to our dinning room. It's a 11' X 15' room. One of the key features I'm looking for is that I don't need to turn the speakers or "amp" on, and that they start playing automatically when I play the turntable (which probably negates a Sonos Connect and dedicated Amp). Either way I'll be getting a pre amp but the choice I now have to make is below. I welcome your thoughts, comments or any other suggestions...
Hey guys, I recently bought a Sonos Beam (around a week ago) and although the sound is great, I am still having the same issue I was having prior to even having a soundbar, which was the main reason I bought one in the first place. I have Voice Enhacement enabled and even 'Night Mode' where it supposedly suppresses louder noises and raises lower volumes. But I am having constant issues with still having to adjust the sound constantly throughout watching a film/TV show. The dialogue is perfect but then any music or sound effect comes on and it is craaaaaaazy loud. I've looked on the SONOS app and cannot find any fix or solution to this. Unless I'm missing something. I am very concerned and am unfortunately considering returning this for another soundbar with more in-depth controls. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I have a Apple TV connected via hdmi to my Samsung TV and then the beam connected HDMI-ARC to the Samsung TV. When I play Dolby Digital content it works. However, when I plug my Xfinity (Arris XG1v4) to the Samsung TV. I go in the settings and it only allows me to select stereo or audio expert mode. I select audio expert mode and then my tv has Dolby Digital grayed out. No way to get my cable box to send the DD5.1 signal to my Beam. Has anyone had this issue with Comcast Xfinity? I am going to pick up another box XG1v3 and give that a try today.
I am trying to set up my PLAY:1 and can't complete the process. It can find my player and asks me to hold down the two buttons until I hear a chime, which I do, and then nothing happens. It doesn't move beyond that screen, and the flashing amber light eventually becomes a solid red. My computer app tells me it couldn't find it, even though it found it seconds before to identify which player I wanted to add. This is a new PLAY:1 that I was sent about 6 months ago when my other one did the same thing. I did do a factory reset once because it was my only remaining recourse. Any ideas? MY PLAY:3 is connected and works fine.
Hello, this subject may already be covered elsewhere in a post, but let me explain what I am trying to do first. I recently cut the cord from U-Verse, they sucked, done. I signed up with DirecTV Now, loving it. I am currently using the Apple TV 3rd Gen I believe that does not have the optical out, therefore I am running an HDMI Audio extractor, which optical is going directly to Sonos Playbar, which I have 2 Play:1’s as surrounds and the Sub. In my Apple menu under sound I have 5.1 Surround option on. It sounds good, I could live with, but am I getting true Surround this way? Is there a test I could perform to determine that all 5 channels are working? I performed an experiment where I redirected an optical cable from TV through a TOSLINK switcher, and when I jump between the extractor and the TV optical out, the extractor sound is much better. On TV sound settings I have HDMI Audio Format set to Bitstream and Audio Format to PCM. For now sticking with the audio extractor as the
Hi all: I've got an interesting problem. I have my Beam connected to my (CEC-enabled) Samsung TV via HDMI-ARC. I then have my Apple TV plugged into the TV via HDMI. I got everything to work when switching the Apple TV on with it's remote, which then turns the TV on automatically and enables the Beam. It also works in reverse when turning the TV off with the remote. Secondly, when everything is off and I stream Apple Music from my phone to the Beam (via Airplay 2), the music plays great. Note, the TV is not on when playing music. Now, the problem: after streaming music and wanting to go back and watch Apple TV...the Apple TV remote function described above does not work. Is the Beam somehow switching the TV input (despite it being off) when I stream music since it is plugged into HDMI-ARC? Then the Apple TV doesn't recognize the TV because the TV is on the HDMI-ARC input (the Beam) rather than the Apple TV input (regular HDMI)? Also not having much luck turning the TV on via Alexa.
Guys, Hoping you can help? I have recently moved from a Sony 5.1 Amp and separate speakers. When playing a movie in 5.1, as you'd expect the centre speaker is used for dialogue with the front and rear surrounds used for directional effects etc. Am now using a Beam with 2x Play:1's (for surround) and am playing Plex/NetFlix/NowTV Movies via a Roku 4K USB streaming stick (plugged into a LG TV) The TV is plugged into the Beam via HDMI ARC. Both TV & Roku stick are configured specifically for Dolby Digital. For some reason, I get quite alot of dialogue in the surrounds. To the point that it doesn't feel like 5.0. It feels more like a ghost mode and the sound from the bar is simply replicated at a lower level in the surrounds. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks in advance??
Frustrated at the lack of clarity on the Airplay 2 rollout.
I'd like to use the Sonos app on my Mac to play my music through the computers built in speakers.
My Sonos app works great one day and then doesn’t work the following it is driving me crazy
Hi all, my first post here having been an avid reader of the forums ever since I bought my Sonos One a few weeks ago, and shortly after pre-ordered my Beam. I've been having a few problems with the Beam. I think most are little bugs that will get improved/ironed out as the updates roll out. However the issue with lip sync (DD5.1, not stereo) makes the Beam unusable. It leaves me one of two possible conclusions. 1. My Philips 55PUS6272 is not fit for purpose with external DD5.1 receivers. I should send it back and buy a TV that can send DD5.1 without delay (as it's only a few weeks old). Or, 2. My Beam is not fit for purpose and I should send it back. This would leave my Sonos One redundant too in my view, so I'd send that back too and invest in a different system). Which is the right conclusion, I don't know. But given the amount of users on here with lip sync for a variety of TVs, it seems reasonable to assume it's a Sonos issue. I love the Beam in principle, I really feel
