My iPad2 can't take the new IOS so I can't update the Sonos software. Ok, I was left with a slightly limited functionality but it worked. Now it won't work at all as I can't do an update. This is absurd! So I need to but a new iPad so that I can operate Sonos on it? This doesn't show much consideration for your customers. Is there a workaround?
I have a Technics turntable, and a Kenwood KR- a56R Stereo Receiver. I would like to get this hooked up to the sonos system in my house. A couple of questions, this is assuming I need to buy the CONNECT: - There is not a "Line Out" or even RCA Out option on my reciever. The ONLY out options are to Speakers, and are the old Speaker wire types. Do I connect the Speaker Out to the CONNECT? In order to do this, I will need Speaker Wire to RCA adaptation I am assuming. - DO I lose quality here? I.E. the Receiver has multiple Speaker Out terminal spots. If I only connect 1 "speaker out" to the CONNECT, do I lose the stereo effect? - What would be the best speaker set up for this arrangement? Currently in that room, I have a Sound Bar (for the TV) and 2 PLAY 1 speakers (Surround) and a subwoofer. Should I add a 5th? Thanks!
I can control the sound volume of my Sonos equipment (One, Beam) on iPhone/iPad running iOS, but not on my computers (iMac and MacBook Pro (both 2017). Neither on Airplay2 through Apple Music nor through the Sonos app on these computers. Am I overlooking a settings option or is this feature lacking?

I have three widgets on my android phone, one for each room. The problem is that they don't stay connected, instead I get this message three times instead. Not connected to Sonos. Tap for more info. This is what I used to see when I want connected to my home network. Now I get that even when the Sonos app is running. If I delete one and add it again then all of them work again, until the next time they decide to stop working. Is anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?
I just added my second Sonos room, and have had something of an enlightenment. Previously I had only a Playbar 5.1 system, and I have been concerned with how I will be able to add it to AirPlay (yes, I know I can use AppleTV on the input, but I can't get full stereo sound on the rear surrounds with thie method). I was a bit disheartened reading about how only players that are grouped with the newer speakers will be able to AirPlay. But I believe I have mistaken grouping for some sort of permanent arrangement. But it appears grouping is a temporary construct, similar to how you can select multiple sources from within iTunes? The Sonos controller does physically combine the players (i.e. Office + Laundry Room), but functionally it seems like it's just a player selector. I'm not sure I'm as concerned with the implementation, seeing how easy it is to add an remove a speaker from the group. There's still the issue of having music play somewhere that maybe I (or rather, my wife!) doesn't re
How can I see song ratings (1-5 stars) using ipad2 as sonos controller? I copied my CDs to hard drive in Aflac format.
In the Android app, Sonos needs 6 steps to change the equalizer and another 5 steps to change the subwover settings. Can not it be better ??
Hi I have a Sony 7.2 receiver and a Sony TV. I have home speakers connected to receiver in 2 zones (living room and patio). i ma planning to buy a Behringer 1202 mixer and connect it via the AMP (planning to buy) to the Sony receiver. Not sure how I can then get the sound via Bheringer microphone to Sonos one and play 5. Also want to pair my Sonos one and play5 with patio speakers . How can i achieve these?
Hi, I have 5 Sonos speakers around the house, with 2 more on the way. I have sold off most of my traditional stereo equipment, but I still have a CD changer with 200+ CDs in it. I hav3 ripped the bulk of them and I can play them from a hard drive attached to the work. But sometimes I want to listen to the CDs. Does Sonos have a practical solution for integrating the CD player into my Sonos ecosystem?
In the Letter to Shareholders, it says Wireless speakers remains our largest category on an annual revenue basis and our product roadmap is focused on delivering new products in that category to balance and grow our overall portfolio. (Not in bold in the original) So, a new Play:3 seems possible, to "balance" the portfolio. But what is anyone guessing at to "grow" the portfolio?
Is there any benefit to the short orientation versus the tall (wall) orientation with regards to one providing better sound?
Hello All, I know this has been talked about before, but I still have not found anyone (sonos or user) who has come up with a definitive solution to dialog issues when using the playbar for movies and TV shows. I have a Sonos playbar, Sub, and 2 Sonos one's in my living room to have a surround sound set up. When watching movies or TV shows, the dialog is almost always very difficult to understand, music is just fine, but not movies and tv shows. I have tried both speech enhancement and night mode features, but these do not improve dialog clarity whatsoever. I have verified that my TV is putting out the right source to the sonos system. It is not as matter of how loud the sound is, it is simply not easy to understand what is being said. I have also encountered the seemingly common issue where dialog is very quiet but other sounds, ambient noise in movies, explosions, background sounds, etc. are very loud and you can't hear what is being said, so you are constantly playing with
Hi I have two ones and one of these feels strange when on even if it's not playing music. When you touch it there is a slight vibrating/static feeling which is hard to describe. The other device does not have this feeling at all. The strange feeling isn't accompanied by any strange noise just the feeling. Any ideas what could cause this?
Hey there, I'm getting a pair of Play:1 in a couple of weeks. My question is should i consider buying a Play:5 too? I wanna let them all 3 play in the same room. left Play:1, middle Play:5, right Play:1 I want to do this because i have concerns that the bass is too weak with only a pair of Play 1? I don't want to get a Sub because of my neighbours but the bass should be noticable and punchy. And could it be that the addition of a play:5 would "destroy" the stereo sound of the 2 ones or could it even expand the sound? Thanks in advance.
With the loss of support of the old controller I have been toying with getting a dedicated tablet to use as a controller. However I have a few Google mini's around the house and also have a strong interest in the upcoming Google Smart Displays as the one coming soon by Lenovo: https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/virtual-reality-and-smart-devices/smart-home/smart-home-series/Smart-Display-/p/ZZISZSDSD81 Was thinking this would be the ultimate controller replacement as it could do both Google Assistance and run a few apps such as Sonos. However I am seeing that it runs Android Things OS vs standard Android OS. Thus question is if there are plans to support this with a Sonos App. Again I believe this would be a cool replacement for the defunct controller.
Been waiting for Google Assistant for over a year. Bought my Sonos system because of the promise from Sonos that Google Assistsnt would be available in late 2018. Very disappointed. Moderator Note: Google Assistant is now available for use on Sonos. Read more here.
I did not find in the description that it has a separate DC power supply. Anyone can shed some light please? Thanks
I want to know what the normal and maximum power consumption is for PLAY1, PLAY5, PLAYBAR and SUB when I play? Not when idle. Can´t find that in any specs on sonos.com (the minimum is stated for some of them ex. PLAY1 appr 4w) I need to know this because I have limited power in my apartment. It is not important that your answer is exactly 🙂
Sleep timer counts down but doesn’t switch off Tune In radio on Play 1 any longer. This has only stopped working in the last couple of weeks. Set sleep timer for 1 hr, wake up with radio still playing in the morning. Is it possible to resolve this?
I'll preface this by saying I've Googled this to death. I'll share my own findings at the bottom. So I'm in progress on a new construction, and I want to get this as right as possible the first time while the walls are totally open. Ideally, I want a 5.1 TV set-up, 2 or 3 pairs of in-wall/ceiling speakers (i.e. Sonos architectural) AND one pair of outdoor speakers. MUSIC sound and experience is my priority over a perfect TV theater setup. Now, the tricky part is, I want every speaker to be able to play from the same singular source (my iPhone). I know that 3 arch. pairs will play the same audio via a single Amp, but that seems like a waste of the TV speakers (if they are just sitting there silent - especially if the TV sub wasn't playing with the arch.) Then, I also want all the arch. speakers to be able to play the audio from the TV output (like if I were to watch a youtube music video, I want every speaker including outside to play that audio). But then I of course want
Running Android 9 on Pixel 2 XL. Go to settings to add a new speaker. App says "Sonos app needs updating" and shows an Update button and a Done button. Tapping the Update button opens the Sonos Google Play page with only 2 options, Uninstall or Open, so the app appears to be updated. Go back and tap Done instead, but still can't add speakers. It continuously goes in this loop of needing to update the app. Already tried uninstalling/reinstalling, clearing app cache, rebooting phone. New Play 5 is a brick at this moment, thanks guys. Fix the app now.
Does anyone know if the Sonos Amp supports connection to Bose Lifestyle V35
Controller app
Hi everyone, I noticed that there is a big thread on LG tv's and audio sync issues. audio later than video. I have the same problem with my Samsung Q9FN as well to my Beam. Can sum it up that if I just pump out PCM stereo...no issues. Any form of 5.1 (Bitstream or PCM), then the problems start. I've got an Apple TV 4k, an Nvidia shield as well..both having same problems. The shield is probably a bit better though and if I use plex, i've got it down to a minimum. I'm probably going to get told that it's the t.v...which is fine (well, it's not really but if it is the problem, then it is). Anyone had similar issues and resolved at all? thnx.
