My question is: Can a Play:5 be fixed? My synopsis is below. I am very disappointed with the quality of Sonos products that was registered in 2016 when I opened. I spent a little more that $500 for a Play:5 (I own a Play:3, a Surround Set and a Connect) and it just stopped working. We tried all the possibel options to get it to work with and without Sonos tech support, but was told it was a "dead" speaker. I was told that nothing can be done, but Sonos would give me a 30% for a new one. But, Sonos wanted the old one. I thought this was strange since it was broken, so I asked why and was told that was part of the deal for the 30% off a "new" speaker. But the speaker is dead! So, I felt like something was not right and asked if the speaker I was going to buy was new. They said no, it was refurbished (should have mentioned that at the start). Now the picture is coming into focus - we can't fix your speaker and send it back you, but we can sell you someone else's "dead" speaker ($349 +
I'm really in love with my Sonos system. I own Play:1, Play:3 and Play:5 and I'm considering buy more components. The only unhappy thing I find is the volume control bar in the app (on any version: phone, tablet, desktop, etc.): I think that is such a bit difficult to precisely control the volume. Sometimes I find hard to select the desired volume to me with the really short bar you provide in the app. It alway goes too hi or too low. I'd rather prefer a precision wheel (or even a bar) where I could choose accurately a value from 0 to 100 (or even from zero to 250, or whatever) in order to get a better control on the amount of volume. I hope you'll find helpful my suggestion to improve the app experience. I think it's a question of software that you can easily manage.
I use both Artist and Album Artist tags frequently for my tracks. Sonos desktop controller (other controllers probably do the same) shows Artist in the information screen for the track, but when I select Artist Info->View Tracks by This Artist, the controller does not match anything. This is because Sonos interprets Album Artist (when it's not empty) tag as Artist, and the actual Artist appears only as Contributing Artist (if enabled in the controller's settings), but the search functions does not include the Contributing Artist field. Very inconvenient. Please, add Contributing Artist field in the Search function!
I use apple music through my Sonos setup. There is a great feature in apple music that is not available in the sonos app. Shuffling all the music by a particular artist in my library. Right now I can see all of the music I have by a particular artist but there is no "Shuffle all" button. That would be a great feature. There are many times when I know what artist I want to hear but rather than picking an album I would just like to hear everything I have by that artist. Thanks for considering this.
I have a stereo integrated amp and a pair of speakers I've had forever and love. I've had them hooked up to our television to add better sound for video on one input and a Sonos Connect in another input for music. I really like the Airplay integration for our Play:5 and was disappointed it wasn't included for the Connect. I was thinking to get around that and to only keep my amp on one input I could get a Beam and hook it up to our TV's audio. I would then group it permanently with the Connect so any music I play to it would automatically come out both the Beam and the Connect's speakers and the same would happen for video. Has anyone done a similar setup? Any thoughts on its feasibility? Thanks!
My iPhone controller app has changed it's language to Norwegian by itself. I could not find any settings to reset it to English. I removed the app and reloaded it but it's still in Norwegian. I'm living in Finland and would prefer English in my controller app.
Hi, I am looking to do an install of 2x sono's one (gen 2) speakers outdoors, and I noticed it had "some" weather protection. installation was going to be blue a eave, which is approx 100cm in length, so should be reasonably protected from direct weather "aka, rain". I guess instead of asking the usual "can you leave it outside", what is everyone actually doing? what successes and fails have you had. Rgds, Chris
I've spent hours researching how to play a Netflix show, through Google Chrome Browser (on a Mac), through a Chromecast streaming device. I then need to split the HDMI signal coming out of Chromecast to (A) HDMI visual signal to an EPSON projector, and (B) optical audio to a SONOS Playbar. Couple keys for those having issues: 1. Every audio output up to the SONOS Playbar needs to be providing a "Dolbly Digital 5.1" signal. You need to backtrace all the way to your original source. Here is what Netflix Customer Support wrote me: DD 5.1 surround sound is not currently supported while streaming on a computer using Microsoft Silverlight or HTML5 (this refer to browsers of all kinds). However, it is supported in the Netflix app for Windows 8 and Windows 10. Click the "Dialogue" box in the show/movie you're watching. Make sure it is set to "ENGLISH - 5.1" Otherwise it won't work. 2. Your Chromecast device also needs to be putting out DD 5.1 -- I haven't tried to tr
On Music Source Make Line In an Actual Source Name On the Music Menu it would be nice to have it "say" the actual Line-In instead of just "Line In". When you go to search the Music Menu you would see "Living Room" or "Bar Sound" instead of "Line In" then going to the line in sources. Trying to tell people what LINE IN means actually confuses them. We all here understand but need a different way to "hide" the Line In and just go straight to the line in source. Make sense?
I'm new to the Sonos world - having waited for Google Play integration (thanks!) - and am generally very impressed, as it's a joy to use such well designed products. However, I've been surprised that Groups functionality is so weak compared to what I'd expected... I have a large living room that has an LR Pair of Play:1s in it and a single Play:5. When playing music in that room, all three are *always* used together, but this has exposed design shortcomings of the current Groups functionality. I'd anticipated being able to configure all the speakers in my living room (ie. all those speakers that are *always* used simultaneously) to form a "permanent" grouping, not too dissimilar to how you can "permanently" create LR pairs. Currently, Groups are what I'd term "soft", and this leads to the following shortcomings: - THE PHYSICAL VOLUME BUTTONS HAVE BEEN RENDERED USELESS, SINCE THEY DO NOT CONTROL GROUP VOLUME. For example, despite my three speakers always being used together in a sing
I am searching for a Blu Ray player that can convert DTS and other formats to Dolby Digital 5.1., so I can enjoy my DTS Blu Rays with full 5.1. via the Sonos Playbar (+ 2 Play:1). Sonos has recommened a line of Samsung Blu Ray Players in this thread: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1945/~/maximizing-playbar-sound-from-your-television Unfortunately most of these are not on the market anymore. Can anyone recommend any Blu Ray players that can convert DTS and other formats to Dolby Digital 5.1.? All Best Anders, Denmark
Wondering if anyone here might have bought a Sony A1 OLED TV and if it works with the playbar?
Hi, I have just upgraded to a smart Samsung tv. Sonos playbar was programmed for the old Sony, but when I try to programme the new remote it is "not recognised"
In a multi-room setup it would be useful to have only the closest speaker active, i.e. other speakers fade out as you leave a room and fade in once you enter a room.
The iPhone app and Mac desktop app no longer include the "I'm tired of this track" feature. What gives?
code:Eu comprei uma conexão e tive produto na loja. Preciso excluir o produto retornado da minha conta. como posso fazer isso?
I’ve got a Sonos sub, playbar, and a pair of ones, but I moved from a TV to a projector in the rear of the room. My idea was to buy the new Amp and sell the playbar. My question is what passive speakers should I get to work with the Amp and the Sub? I don’t have a ton of room so I was torn between small bookshelf’s and small satellites. Things I was considering: Q acoustic 3020i, KEF T301s
Hi I have my Sub tucked away behind the tv. Partly because the bass sounds good coming from the corner of the room and partly so that my wife won’t see it and ask how much it cost! It looks like a real dust magnet and I’d like to put something over it to protect it. Would it cause problems with airflow, overheating, or would a thin material be ok to use? ( for Sun in the title please read Sub )
I'm aware that Playbar's built-in accelerometers automatically sense its orientation and adjust its sound accordingly. But how? Or rather, to what? Specifically, what are the technical and audio differences between laying it flat and standing it on edge (or wall mounting)? Does changing the orientation simply change the equalisation (bass/treble/loudness/speech mode), or is there something else going on? Why does panel location make a difference? Which orientation is better for music? Which is better for movies?
Is it acceptable to locate my sub woofer behind my stereo console?
Hello, I have... A new Sony Bravia TV A sonos beam , connected via hdmi arc Two play 1s set up as surround by the sonos app A Phillips DVD player connected to the TV by hdmi Everything from the TV is routed through a sky box When the DVD player is connected to the TV, the TV does not play through the beam at all but the DVDs play in surround sound through the beam. As soon as I disconnect the DVD player, the TV plays through the beam but only in stereo, not in surround sound. What have I got configured incorrectly ? I shouldn't have to keep unplugging the DVD player should I ?
I have a Sonos system made of 2 Play 5 and a SUB and would like to connect a CD player as I have hundreds of music CDs. How can I do?
A week or so ago the Sonos app on my OSX Mac (10.11.6) got stuck. A dialog window popped up and recommended an update. I clicked "Let's do this" and the updater got stuck mid process. Unable to quit /cancel. Only option was to force-quit. Work around: I repeated the above process 2x and decided to get a fresh download of the 10.2 installer. Doing a fresh install from tis installer worked easily and correctly.
