So after growing tired of waiting for a software update from Bose to use Airplay 2 on their SoundTouch series I finally decided to initiate a move to Sonos (it always bugged me that Sonos doesn't offer Bluetooth, hence the wait). To the point, got the speaker to show up fine in HomeKit. Was very excited about this... only to find out that it's just a useless icon! I can't turn the power on/off (which I can do with the old Bose ST10 via Homebridge. Not optimal, but it does work), and no volume control. Have to say that this was disappointing. As it is now the Sonos ONE speaker is just an icon in HomeKit, it can't really do anything. Use case for power on/off... I have an automation that turns off all the lights in my home when I leave (geofencing), would be great if it could turn off the speaker as well. Are there any plans on making the HomeKit integration actually serve any useful purpose in the near future?
how many Db and hertz does a speaker have
Hey, was thinking about getting an Amp and would like to get a new pair of speakers and a sub in the near future. I'm really into the kef q350 and the Svs sb1000. But I'm up for suggestions. Would like to spend around 500-750 on the speakers and around the same amount on the sub. What do you guys think? Thanks
I know this topic has been asked in the past and Sonos has not added the feature, but I will ask again. Can Sonos or is there another way to allow guests on your WiFi Network to ONLY be able to add music to the end of the queue? While I allow friends on my wireless network, I hate it when they try to add songs and do "play now" instead of add to the end of the queue. It would be nice to have the "owner" only allow guests to add to the end of the queue and/or have an approval before songs are added by none owners. Any thoughts? Mark
So, i currently have a Sherwood RX-4105 stereo receiver with a Chromecast Audio in my shed. Its been in there and working for a couple years without issues. WiFi strength is enough for wireless streaming. (shed is about 40 ft from a Google WiFi in the kitchen) I'm getting ready to finish out my rooms by replacing all my Google Homes with Sonos speakers and just needed to make sure the Sonos Amp will survive the heat and cold in my shed. (I live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.) I currently have a pair of Sonos Ones (stereo pair) in the kitchen that will be about the same distance away. Maybe slightly closer. So the SonosNet signal should make it. I think it'll be fine, just wanted a few other opinions. Thanks in advance!
I already have a Sonos 5.1 system which is great. I’m now wondering about adding a Sonos One Alexa speaker in an outdoor room we are building for my wife’s therapy business. Only issue is the WiFi is marginal at best, although I can ‘see’ one of the play 1 speakers from the 5.1 setup. Would this work to transfer data through the mesh? Or do I need to work out a way of getting solid WiFi? Thanks.
I purchased an audio technica turntable and have tried to connect the audio in to my Sonos connect. I’ve read that I should be able to plug in to the audio in and the “line in” will show in my app under browse. But nothing is showing up...
Hi. Am just planning out a sonos sytem. I'm planning to get a readynas duo and I'm assuming that as a few people have them on this forum they work ok as a NAS? A bit slow maybe but ok?
Rread all previous discussions, please tell me where a simple turn off button is located!
So I live on a military base and I use base wifi and I have trouble updating my play 1. I can't just go connect to a router and update that way I only have wireless with no router of any sort to access. How would I go about updating my play 1
Just struggled through a problem with the Sonos App for ios and android. It was intermittently freezing up for the customer. Usually you could cause the error by pressing the phones home key to put Sonos in the background. When it was accessed again it would be completely frozen. Tried a new iPhone with a basic install, and my own android phone from my home system. Turned out to be a Airport Time capsule with WiFi problems. Difficult to know what was wrong with the wifi and it was misleading because it usually would not freeze unless you pressed the home button or the unit went to the lock screen. Rebooting the router would allow it to work for about 20 mins then the problem would re-occur. Narrowed it down by bringing my own cell phone with the Sonos App and connected to their network and even my phone which I knew worked fine on my home system would freeze. Talked to Sonos about it and although a complete lack of Wifi will cause the app to display the Turn on Wifi message, a probl
Does it really need to suck this bad ?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm a Sonos dealer. I love Sonos. BUT : 1. Shuffle in any playlist (larger than 20-30 tracks) is terrible !! Sonos 'repeats' tracks WAAAAYYYY too soon (should be not at all, regardless of playlist size !) !!! 2. Sonos gets to tell me, that my music library is too big !?!?!?!?????? (On-screen message : "Sonos does not have enough space to update your music library. Please eliminate unused ques and playlists". Blah, blah, blah). I don't think so !! Unacceptable !! It's the 21st century, and this is easy code to fix. I can maybe see this needing to be this way, on hand-held devices, but on the 'desk-top' controller, no way. I have a feature request for Sonos and couldn't find where to post it. Apologies if this is in the wrong place. I have been a Sonos customer since 2010, love the products and use them everyday. My request is that Sonos engineer its products for better "error recovery". Answers to Sonos support questions, as well as responses on this community forum, often recommend something like: "Power down your router, turn off every device connected to your wifi network, then turn everything back on." I work in Corporate IT, and I understand why this advice is given, and I understand why it works. But with my Corporate IT hat on, where one manages 10's or 100's of thousands of hardware devices and software platforms around the globe, we simply would not purchase any device that required a reboot of the network to solve a problem. The products have to be engineered with better resiliency and recovery options. Home networks, of course, are much simpler, with only 10-20 devices on average. Bu
Hi, im looking for a good sounding, small-ish size, do it all type of speaker. A few I was looking at were the sonos play 5, bluesound pulse 2i, denon heos 7, Naim mu-so Qb. Does anyone have any experience with any of these, or other suggestions that I should look at? I'll be using the speaker mainly for music and movies, with heavy metal and edm being my go to genres. My budget is around $800, but I can spend a bit more if something has killer sound.
I have the Sonos Beam and it's great for music/AirPlay but watching TV is incredibly frustrating. I'm using ARC HDMI through a Samsung MU6300 with an Apple TV 4K. The video is ahead of the audio. I've tried setting the Samsung audio delay to 0 ins settings which helps a little. The audio delay in the Sonos app is useless as it needs to go the other way. I've tried setting the AppleTV to stereo and every other audio related setting I can find and nothing works. There is a slight delay between the video and the audio no matter what, which is extremely grating. How can I fix this? Is there some kind of magic combination of settings that will make this work? This is an expensive set of components for this not to work correctly.
Just switched from Direct TV to Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) yesterday. Technician was unable to figure out how to sync the Spectrum remote with our Sonos system so that we can control the volume via the remote instead of using our smart device(s) to do so. Spectrum Customer Service suggested that I call Sonos to see if they have a code(s) that are compatible with the remote, but they're closed today (Sat). Our Direct TV remote was compatible with Sonos, so it can be done. No...we are not going back to Direct TV. Any other suggestions?
I am planning an outdoor living room that will be covered and screened. I love in Houston so regardless of the shelter from elements, humidity is a huge issue so I’m not going to put a playbar outside. Therefore I want to have a television supported by Sonos outdoor speakers. I want four speakers in the room to insure enough sound for when we have parties at the house. Can I configure the Sonos amp to play tv audio through four outdoor speakers and then switch to music when required? Is there a more efficient/higher quality configuration?
I know there are lots of topics on this, but they are all old. Any news on getting wireless headphones to work with playbar/sub? There is no way to listen to the tv privately with sonos at this point.
Sony UBP-X800 does not have an option to force usage of Dolby Digital 5.1, unlike the now discontinued Samsung BD players. Is there any chance of getting someone at Sonos to talk to the guys at Sony, asking them to add that option to their current range of BD players? Sonos, either that or please implement DTS support. Right now there is no BD player on the market that can reliably provide surround sound to your Home Theatre "solution".
For those of us with TV's that can pass 5.1, does the BItstream (Mix) setting enable the PS4 to transcode DTS to DD5.1 and pass it via HDMI to the TV, enabling the TV to then send the 5.1 via optical to the Playbar/Playbase?
Hi I have followed all the support instructions to load my library, unplugged speakers, checked filename etc. but nothing is resolving the error. Diagnostic ref 971952208. Any suggestions please?
I want to broadcast to all zones that tea is ready.
Hi, anyone know if 5G will work on Sonos? Thanks
Could Sonos let us know where they are on allowing some form of playlist editing? Following the merger between Napster & Rhapsody (or vice versa) I have playlists filled with "track unavailable" debris items (eg 365 tracks on a 2500+ playlist). Because there is no way of sorting them (eg on a PC Controller), even when I note that a track is not available, there is no way for me to sort the playlist eg alphabetically or search the list to nail and boot out the offending item (or even better, allowing me real time to see something similar that is available and do a swap). The lack of any editing playlist capability is, in my view, the Sonos systems weakest (and perhaps only) failing. I note previous comments on backup files: I was not aware of this "new" weakness and it would be a disaster if I lost my playlists (even the ones with Napster debris). Come on Sonos: it cant be that hard to have some playlist editing and playlist backup?
I am trying to minimize the amount of electronic equipment that is consuming power 24/7 and our three Sonos speakers (1-5, 2-3s) are candidates. The only problem is that when I use my home automation system to turn off the outlets that the speakers are plugged into, in the morning I have to regroup them and that process is not without its weaknesses and is inconvenient. I would like to have the option of keeping the speakers regrouped automatically when they are repowered.
