Sonos makes a fantastic 5.1 setup which, in my case, is actually 5.0: a Sonos Beam and two Sonos Ones for the surrounds. I just wish the surround Music Playback mode is easier to change. Sometimes, I listen to music while sitting on the sofa with the surrounds behind me. In this case, I set Music Playback to "Ambient" mode so the Beam plays the loudest and the Ones, about 2 feet from my ears, aren't overwhelming. When I'm not sitting on the sofa, I set Music Playback to "Full" mode so it plays delightfully throughout my suite. Here's how you currently change this setting, which I do about 3-5 times a day. 1. Open Sonos app 2. Press Settings 3. Press Room Settings 4. Open your Room (Sonos +LS+RS in my case) 5. Scroll down to Advanced Audio 6. Press Surround Settings 7. Press Music Playback 8. Set the Music Playback mode That's eight steps just to change the mode. I'm not here to prescribe a specific solution, although I'll happily suggest ideas, but I wish Sonos mad
Good day, I have a Playbar and two Play 1s as surround speakers. Coming from my left Play 1, I sometimes hear crackling or static sound coming from it. Anybody have this issue before and if so how did you fix it. Thanks!
I mounted my Beam upside down under my TV because it was the only way since the mount was blocking access to the cable ports and the Beam controls were too close under the TV if mounted upright. By mounting it upside down I am able to access the Beam buttons underneath and have a clear entry to the cable ports. Please make it possible to swap left/right channel of the Beam.
I just got a connect amp and wired it up with a pair of outdoor Polk Atrium 4 speakers. After I got everything installed I went to play some tunes... I had to have to volume to about 50% on the slide bar on the app before I really heard any music out of the speakers, and even then it wasn’t very loud and I was standing right next to the speakers. If I had the volume up to 80% or higher it got closer to a normal listening level, but didn’t leave much room for advancement. I typically listen to my play 1 or sound bar between 30-50% unless we are having a party. I’ve read other reviews where the Sonos amp and a pair of outdoor speakers is blowing their neighbors away, I don’t feel like mine are getting that loud. Do I need better speakers or is it the amp?? I bought the amp open box excellent condition from Best Buy, I just want to make sure something isn’t wrong with it before my 15 day return window is up. Any feedback would be appreciated!
Hi there I’m new on here and have a question. i have a white Sonos beam and seam to have a stain on the front fabric mesh . Looks like something has been splashed up the front of it . ( tea or coffee mark or milk) has anyone have any ideas how to clean this or how do you clean the front mesh on a white beam ? Mad it’s fabric and not metal .. have called Sonos and they have advised me to try on hear and ask as they don’t know!
Hi, I’m thinking of buying a SONOS AMP, and I want to connect my 2 BeoLab 8000 speakers. BeoLab uses 8-pin Power Link cables. How to connect these to a SONOS AMP, what type of “in between” cable is needed, and how to set this up? Thanks for your help. /Ulf
Can you make your Sonos have no Wi-Fi signal at all? My step had has been reading that Wi-FI and EMF are bad for you. so I’m not allowed to buy anything that as a Wi-Fi Signal. Any suggestion?
Hi Sonos, This is my call for you guys to come to your senses. I’ve got a play:1 and a Sonos one … Guess what my gripe is!? All I want to do is use your brilliant speakers in the way they were meant to be used, I have both of these speakers in the kitchen (Its not that big) and i want to stereo pair them, thats all ! I want to use the new features of the Sonos one and not have my Sonos play be an utter waist of money and time. Your ecosystem should be backward compatible otherwise you are cheating people out of money, and more importantly loyalty, so please, please come to your senses and release a patch that makes this Utopian dream a reality, make it so that people who have invested in your tech and vision don’t feel cheated like a cheap floozy into investing in your products to be left in the cold when you release new things. Thanks D.
Since recent software update and Airplay support seems anyone on same wlan as my sonos can 'takeover' the system from YouTube/iOS devices to play whatever they are listening to, whilst its great that sonos now supports Airplay, please consider an option to disable this feature or restrict access to authorised sources/controllers, My kids have found it very entertaining that they can now control my sonos system irrespective of what is playing via Airplay.
Just got the message Sonos will no longer support IOS devices . Looks like it’s time to sell my speakers .
I'd like to share my impressions of the new Sonos amp paired with kef LS50, id also like to share the frequency graphs i have recorded using REW to address some of the concerns on the amp being bright and the sub woofer crossover boosting the treble. Positive: The pair sounds good, I came from a much larger (older) stereo component setup looking to keep the HiFi sound but also have some of the always on convenience that I have found using the numerous PLAY:1s around the house. I now find myself listening to much more music as the amp is always on ready to go. It also sounds good for TV/Movies using ARC (with my previous setup I always found the voices too quiet and i didn't want a large AVR) even with just having stereo speakers - I feed the amp Dolby 5.1 from the Apple TV4, the Amp down-mix very well to include a DSP centre channel (this sounds noticeably clearer than feeding stereo), I am looking forward to adding rear surround at a later date. Hardware is built well, and
Got my Beam today (16th) and am pleased with it so far, but I'm having to boost the TV volume much higher that it was with the TV speakers. Without the Beam the TV was at about the right volume at a setting of 30 whereas via the Beam it needs to be in the 70's to 80's (and thats nearly maxed out) to get the same perceived volume It's a Sony Bravia TV with the Beam connected via the HDMI ARC and a pair of Play:1s as surrounds. Anybody got any suggestions as to either TV or Sonos settings. I've played TV Level slider from the app. but it doesn't seem to make much impact? I'll continue playing about in the meantime
I loved my Sonos system when I got it several years ago. Now, it's becoming a pain and I am about to replace it all. Skipping songs constantly. All tips I've tried had not resolved the issue. Turned off bluetooth, keep phone unlocked, etc. Don't need to reconfigure my phone every time I want to use Sonos. Now I soon won't be able to play songs off my iPhone. I got a pop up today in the app stating this. Really SONOS? Because you can't fix issue #1 you're going to remove it all together? That's my suspicion anyway. No support for 5 channel system. Expensive. I can now buy cheaper products and hook to Google home and have less problems. Makes me sad. This was a system ahead of it's time when I got it several years ago.
Hi, I have a projector setup with the audio connected to a beam using a HDMI cable - works well. However I now need to hide the cables... Before I resort to abusing my walls (the house is very old) I was hoping someone would have a solution to a more wireless option? I've tried a "wirelesstv2" however that didnt work. Would a sonos amp wired up to the projector and then grouped with the beam work? Would it introduce too much delay? Any other bright ideas...? Thanks in advance, Iain
I have a few different players around the house, plus a Beam with 2 IKEA Symfonisk rear surrounds. While I was part of the beta testing group I noticed that at times the surrounds were out of sync with the Beam, but only for music. For other reasons I went back to the stock setup and left the beta. A few days ago I was listening to some music in the kitchen but then went to do some housework so set Sonos to play everywhere. When I got to the living room, the rear speakers were out of sync with the Beam so there was essentially an echo. As I had done during the beta, I suited diagnostics then emailed Sonos support about the issue. The bottom line from Sonos is that this happened because the Beam wasn't the group leader, or originator. Playing the source via the Beam and then grouping the rest of the house will apparently stop this from happening. Now, is it just me or is that pretty poor? The whole point of Sonos is in part its ability to play synchronised music to whatever zones you wa
I picked up a pair of homepods at Costco for $149 each. I am debating returning them and picking up a pair of Sonos ones instead. What would be a better option for me?I have google home hubs set up all around my house, and use that to control all of my smart home stuff. I wanted speakers in my kitchen and bedroom that sounded a little better than the hubs (they sound pretty bad). I also have a Sonos playbar, sub, and two Sonos play 3’s in my living room that I use for the TV and music there.I have both a Spotify and Apple Music subscription (my wife likes AM and I like Spotify). Would I be better suited with the Sonos Ones or the homepods? Thanks!
I have a sonos beam, two sonos 1’s and a subwoofer. It is currently next to the tv on the floor which is laminated. what is the best place to put it or is next to the tv ok?
I have been using the SONOS BEAM consistently for 2 weeks now. I love it, but as a live sound engineer and sound geek, am wondering why there are not more customizable EQ parameters for the BEAM. I have used the TRUEPLAY TUNING twice over and it did not correct the lack of vocal tones I was hoping for (suffering around 1K - 3.15K in my opinion + compared to Play; 3 lacks in the 400 - 900 range but I acknowledge BEAM is designed with video audio in mind). I have used every variation of the SONOS App's Dialogue boost, night setting, Loudness enhancer, compression - All great features, but even Spotify has a 4-band EQ while the SONOS app seems to only provide a 2-band; BASS, TREBEL. As a live sound engineer I work with 32-band graphic EQs, which I don't expect to see on an app, but would love to see a happy medium from a high end sound company that I do really like for music in the home or on the road. I love the low end, the spread and music is seems to tackle (Spotify w/ eq sett
I replaced my existing Definitive Technology UIW 83/A in-ceiling speakers and Connect:Amp with SONOS Architecture In-Ceiling speakers and SONOS Amp. My previous speakers required a 9” diameter cutout which was too big for the SONOS In-Ceiling speakers. So I designed an adapter trim and ordered 3D prints using Nylon 12 (SLS) dyed black. Attached is a photo of the installation and a link to the adapter trim STL file should anyone need to 3D print a pair. I like the small black reveal but if one prefers they can print the adapter trim in white as well. The SONOS In-Ceiling speakers with SONOS Amp sound fantastic. They have similar timbre and so blend much better with my other SONOS players than my previous speakers; and they look great. The trim adapter STL file is publicly accessible and can be downloaded here: TrimAdapter.STL
I would like to see a feature in the sonos app that allows to more easily temporarily play different audio within a room without having to remove speakers from the room and then re-add them as their own room to start and then when finished, re-pair them. For example: I have the standard home theater setup: Playbar, Sub, 2x Sonos One. However, sometimes when using the TV I do not care about the audio so much as the video (i.e. YouTube video or Twitch stream). I would like to un-pair the rear surround speakers (2x Sonos Ones) and play music as if they were their own stereo pair instead while the TV plays through the sound bar and sub. But then be able to easily transition into the full surround setup if I wanted to. There are a few ways to accomplish this but the best way, in my opinion, would be something to the effect of: When clicking the group button and activating a room, the source audio will play on all speakers by default when a room is checked. But if desired, I can drill d
I would like an option to switch the SUB on/off in the app at Room level. Now I have to go throught all the menus in the app to manage the room. This takes an annoying long way in the userinterface. In my setup I use a Playbar with SUB. For normal television use I don't want the SUB to play. When I watch movies or listen music I switch it on. If there is a button in the rooms page to do this at top level makes my day! How about others?
What are peoples thought of replacing a play 5 gen one with either s beam or play 5 gen 2.A bit of background. Had the gen 5 for a few years, acquired used mainly for the headphone jack to allow for night time use. That has since been replaced with a bose headset. It now lives in the bedroom next to the tv but not connected to it. And used for casual listening,. While I have no issue's with the 5, I worry Sonos are about to make some changes that will impact my 5 negatively, no evidence on my part just a gut feeling and ii'm looking nto a replacement for it.A 5 gen 2 gets me the best sound quality but the beam allows me to connect to the tv, a voice assistant and airplay 2, wife is an iPhone user, my question really is if these others features are enough to justify the lower sound quality of the beam, and it's also cheaper. I think it is but curious on what people think. How does a beam stack up against the 5 gen 2.O, the beam also allows for a 5.0 expansion in the future, though I am
Did they update the Spotify interface within the Sonos app? Seems like when you click on Spotify it has a new look. Am not able to search “Genres and Moods” anymore either? Anyone else experiencing or notice this issue? I liked the old interface much better!
I use every morning m/f the alarm clock feature with my Sonos system, which works pretty well. However every time I leave home for a few days for my business trips I ALWAYS forget to shut it off so that it won’t play around the house while I’m not there. Sonos team should add a feature to allow, perhaps through logging in into the account, to shut off the alarm even if you are not logged in on the same WiFi network of the Sonos system, so now I could shut it off even while I am away from home!:S
Here’s my proposed configuration:Sonos Playbar (wireless) Sonos Sub (wireless) Sonos Amp (could be hardwired to Ethernet, or wireless) Record Player (Pro-Ject) Two Unpowered Bookshelf SpeakersI’m trying to figure out what I need to do the following:Use record player with unpowered bookshelf speakers Use unpowered bookshelf speakers as rear surrounds for Dolby 5.1, in conjuction with Sonos Playbar and Sonos SubIs it even possible to have the above hooked up at the same time? Would I need two Amps in theory, assuming I wanted to have the option to stream the record player via Sonos?I don’t have the option to hardwire my Playbar to Ethernet or the Amp.Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
