What router (brand, model) to you recommend for optimal use with regard to SONOS?
Before you buy any SONOS equipment to achieve a 5.1 setup please consider this: a Denon AVRX2400 AV Amp, Elac CINEMA 5.1 speaker system, all cables professionally installed behind the walls gives you true home cinema with all the surround sound codecs you could ever want with no cables showing for way less than £1000 (see Richer Sound web site for prices). Or spend £1700 on a SONOS setup and get stereo or Dolby Digital only plus you may have to buy a new DVD player to play your UHD DVD’s, a HDMI Switch then deal with lip sync issues etc, etc. SONOS do speakers, great speakers, but only for music. They are stealing money from people wanting 5.1 for their TV. The system I suggest costs at least £700 less, hides all the wires (what we all want) and sounds much, much better. Go mad, stick a couple of speakers in the ceiling and get real Dolby Atmos for £150 more and still save yourself £550. I have begged SONOS to tell me if they are developing a surround sound product with HDMI and mo
Hello In this forum there have been countless requests that Sonos produce a less expensive/smaller sub. While the request for a less expensive model may have its merits; IMO smaller size does not. Sonos did an excellent job in designing the current sub that IMO should check all the boxes for the audience in this forum and those outside of it looking for good low-end with music (without sounding muddy or booming) and enhanced LFE for movies_that don’t overpower. If one thinks about it designing a proper sub is probably more involved than designing a speaker. Speakers are generally front firing with no need to consider phase control as with a sub. Speakers are meant to be heard; and it’s not a sin for your ears to determine from where the sound is originating. Subs on the other hand are intended to disappear. If you can pinpoint where the low-end is coming from then that sub is poorly designed and quite frankly a piece of junk. Granted if you are standing on top of
Making it as simple as possible and with all the ideas over the years .... if Sonos could do this I think there would be a lot of happy people and it would be a good selling point. Call it Jukebox Mode - put a marketing spin on it. In the More ... menu put an option "Jukebox Mode Enable/Disable". Make it very easy for someone to see it is enable or not and this would be best place vs. an icon in the queue. And not buried in settings menu. When someone enables you can put a pop up box showing what the option does. When you enable Jukebox mode .... On all the selecting music screens clicking on either the song name or the ... button does the same thing. Brings up menu option that only gives option to Play Next or Add to End of Queue. Those are the only options people are given. That would satisify 90% of needs when it comes to a party mode. Don't worry with disabling rooms, disabling volume control etc. Those aren't big deals. The big deals are people select
Hi I’ve been trying to connect my ring doorbell 1 with my sonos but not getting anywhere. I’ve tried the IFTTT applets but that’s not working either. Any ideas anyone?
It would be nice if we were able to schedule when the night mode and dialogue modes are on and off like when you set alarms. We always use both modes in the evening and only dialogue during daytime. Now I have to turn night mode on and off every evening on my phone which is a little annoying to me. I would rather have them automatically turn on during specific hours and turn them off manually the few times I don't want to use them in the evening.
I'm wanting to do the following: Take an Apple TV and connect it to a J-Tech Digital HDMI Splitter 1x2 and take 1 HDMI out from the splitter to my projector for video and the second HDMI out from the splitter to a Beam for audio. Would you foresee any issues? Sonos controller for Tizen
As it says in the title. Just replaced our Playbar with a Beam to get the Airplay 2 fun working. Sounds great EXCEPT, every few minutes the audio goes silent for a second or two. I've only tested it extensively with our Apple TV since it was installed yesterday. The source is coming from the direct HDMI in using an ARC output on my Vizio P-Series. Anybody else having this problem? Is it the Cable? A Codec? The Beam itself?
I have just bought myself a Sonos Sub and am very impressed over the effect it has on the music in general and of course when watching Movies. However to evaluate the effect and to show the difference with and without the sub you have to dig deep in the settings to find the switch for enabling and disabling the sub. I would like to have a more direct way of enabling and disabling the sub - if possible directly in the player interface. Further more it would be great to be able to create time slots, where the sub can be full active, less active or completely off automatically. This way the rest of the House will still be able to sleep, while I watch movies or listen to music. What do you think of that idea? - please comment if you have better ideas for this feature. Thank you in advance! /Henrik
I was recently forced to update the Sonos app on my phone (Android 5), despite having done everything possible to avoid it, as in my experience app updates generally remove as much useful functionality they add.My worst fears were realised last night when I tried to fix one of the all-too-regular issues with my Sonos setup and discovered that all the system management functionality had been removed from the app.Am I alone in thinking that is completely unreasonable of Sonos to force me to “upgrade” to a version of their software which removes most of its functionality? I appreciate that Sonos cannot reasonably be expected to maintain backwards compatibility with old versions of Android indefinitely, but Android 7 (the minimum requirement now) is barely three years old.Combined with the fact that the PC desktop version of the app has been similarly deprecated of useful functionality, I am now stuck with £1000 of Sonos equipment which doesn’t work. What am I supposed to do? I spoke wi
For Sonos customers who have multiple Sonos devices in their residence, and/or multiple residences, it would be very helpful to save different configurations of the overall system for different situations. Example I am in my kitchen making dinner, and I want all devices on my first floor to play with individual volumes balanced based on my location to creata surround sound environment. Another example might be for a group of devices in a home theater.
Add the ability to save group settings. This would allow the user to setup multiple groups and save the volume levels. The user can then easily go back to a previous group without having to adjust the volume levels all over again. I am constantly adjusting the volume levels because I have different speaker and room sizes. I try to adjust it so that the volume levels are even throughout the rooms. However, I often change my groups depending on the occasion. This is a hassle as I have to go back and readjust the volume levels. It would be nice to just click on a saved group and have all the previous settings.
How to send ARC from tv to amp over cat6.
Hi. I have a new Sonos AMP connected to 2 pairs of speakers with a volume control for each pair. My preference would be to have the AMP set to a fixed volume (max) and use the seperate volume controls for control. I know the fixed level is an option on the connect - is it possible on the Sonos AMP?
Compatible headphones for Sonos.
Hi all, my first post so bear with me on this :) So I have a sonos play 1 (x3), playbar and sub in my living room. My music is a mixture of streamed content but also some albums i have ripped in to mp3 or Flac/WAV on my Nas Drive. What I am trying to work out is how I can enhance my music fidelity further. Specifically with the source content I want something that can host my content (USB drive), stream and have a higher quality DAC. My NAS is just too noisy to remain on all the time…. Furthermore I am thinking of adding some more speakers down the road but these may or may not be Sonos specific. It would be great if there was something that had a screen too. I was thinking of a Nanomesher DAC 2 (pi based) but also others. I also have a Fiio M6 and was wondering if there was a way to bridge that or have it appear as a sonos target to use to stream from. sorry guys a bit of a ramble there, just exploring options. cheers!
Which? Magazine adds the Sonos ONE (Gen 2) the the smart speaker 'Dont Buy' list together with the Sonos Beam. Note to Sonos Moderators: Please publish this post-its a genuine review of your product and I think potential Sonos customers have the right to make an informed decision. Please note that this review is only the personal opinion of the Which? panel and not necessarily the opinion of the many satisfied Sonos customers out there of which I am one.. This is a direct copy of the review and hasn't been altered in any way by me. This information is for Which? members only but I thought it should be made more accessible so customers can make a more informed decision before buying. Read on...... Sonos may be a popular brand in multi-room audio, but they're well behind the smart speaker competition with the Sonos One, and this second generation version hasn't closed the gap. It's a pain to set up, and the sound quality is bass heavy with a harsh quality, lacking warmth - it's now
We spend a lot of time grouping and ungrouping rooms. The issue is stems from my wife's use of Party Mode. She likes to use Party Mode while she is cooking. I ungroup the outside speakers so as not to offend the neighbors. I ungroup the upstairs when the kids go to bed. I turn everything off and then create a new group to set the morning alarm. In the morning, I create a group in the kitchen and family room to read the paper. There has to be a better way! Why can't we just create groups of rooms and label them something easy to remember like "Cooking", "Kids in bed", "Alarm" or "Morning Coffee"?

Dear Sonos STOP putting stupid ads in my app please or I am out of your eco-system. Your products are too expensive to also have to suffer through your annoying attempts to sell more. First time ever your company has done anything to get my blood pressure up. T
I use the Sonos Controller from a PC with the latest Sonos update installed. I have all my music stored on a NAS drive. What I usually do is update the iTunes library with new tracks and then go 'Update Music Library Now' so I can see my music available in Sonos. Problem is that whenever I press on the 'Update Music Library Now' option, nothing happens i.e. the indexing doesn't start. Only solution I found so far is to force Sonos to re-index the entire music folder by removing the music folder from the Music Library Settings and add it again. Works but not very elegant... Note that the 'Update Music Library Now' option is NOT grayed out i.e. option is active but it doesn't initiate the indexing process. Needless to say that the NAS drive is visible and has the permissions wide open. Using the same exact Sonos setup, the 'Update Music Library Now' option used to work like a charm for years but for some reason it's no longer working since the last Sonos update. I would
Without wishing to go over old ground as I am sure this will have been discussed before, I have grave concerns about the longevity of my system components. Like many of you I bought into the Sonos experience back in 2008 and invested a few thousand pounds to get up and running. Over the years I have added other components to enhance the experience. Back in those early days and over the next few years I have to say that the whole experience of Sonos was fantastic. The build quality of the components being right up there with Apple. A few years ago the CR100 dedicated controller was rendered obsolete; a few months ago my iPad was rendered obsolete as a Sonos controller; I am informed that my iMac desktop has less than a year to go as a controller because it cannot support many more updates. I have received an email today telling me that my bridge is no longer able to support the demands of my system and I guess, like many of you the emails have been coming in thick and fast about “trade
Hello Sonos universe - I bought a playbase a few months ago. Love the sound, quality and design. Only problem is that I moved 2 weeks ago and the new room layout is making it a real challenge to keep the playbase. The playbar now makes a lot more sense from a space perspective, so I am wondering if there may be any opportunity to trade units if someone is in a similar but opposite scenario. I know its a long shot but looking at what options are out there. Thank you!
Hi all, I just bought Sonos One and it works perfectly. Did add Apple Music service, works with Air Play, ... So far, so good. Then I tried to add it to my Home via ... Add Accessory Don't Have a Code or Can't Scan? ... but my device didn't appear there even after couple of minutes. I was searching this forum and I've found that I have to disable Group Non-AirPlay Speakers. The problem is that this option is there (control app), but it's greyed out (can't disable it). Trying to disable it in the Settings - AirPlay. Sonos Control app version 9.2 (build 46357271), Sonos One speaker 9.2 (build 46357250), iOS 12.1. How can I disable the Group Non-AirPlay Speakers to make it working with HomeKit? Thanks, Robert P.S. I tried to disable Home in iOS, reboot Sonos One, etc. Nothing helps. This is the only thing that doesn't work for me. Rest works like a charm.
