Since a recent app update, when I use my upnp server with my Sonos system, the seek bar no longer works on the Sonos app. The desktop app does not show any seek/time information at all, the iOS and Andriod app show the time of the track, but not the remaining time or the seek information. I have tried several other upnp servers and they all act the same. So I do not believe the issue is with my upnp server. Is anyone aware of a way to resolve this?
In deciding what audio format to encode my 4k blurays with, I ran some comparison tests between DD+ and AAC for a 5.0 system (beam + 2 x symfonisk rears). These two formats are probably the best that can be transcoded (down-mixed) for Beam compatibility which is designed for AC3 format (Dolby Digital 5.1). This was prompted after watching a movie encoded with AAC audio and being blown away with the sound. I searched for any similar tests and could not find anything this specific. The comparison was run on an LG OLED B7 connected to Beam through HDMI/ARC. I encoded the same movie with two 5.1 channel audio tracks, one in DD+ format and the other in AAC format. The movie file format was MP4 and was played off a network drive using the built-in LG ‘Photos & Video’ app. The LG TV digital audio output was set to ‘Auto’ mode, and even though the output is down-mixed for compatibility with Beam, there was a clear difference in the sounds produced by the two different audio tracks as descr
I found this on another site wherein a member asked Sonos to clarify the use of Sonos Home Theater speakers with a projector. It also contained a note on the Arc regarding Dolby Atmos material. Take it for what you like...just FYI. Cheers!
I used to have a “Sonos power plan” in Windows for my desktop. Is it no longer available?
Hi Guys I have a new PC running windows 10, I have rebuilt my library, I can see all the albums and tracks however I can not get any to play, I have tried rebooting me Sonos rooter, bridge and Play 1, I managed to get one track to play this stopped soon after stated, I just get unable to play. I have tried the methods ENABLE SMB and DISABLE SMB after watching videos on YouTube via the Sonos website however still no tracks playing Please help
Is there a significant difference between eARC and ARC. I am very interested in getting the new Sonos sound bar, but my TV has ARC. Should I invest in the new soundbar with this, will I be loosing any of the new features? Thanks
I have seen posts from users putting these up. Can anyone share their experience from using these for surround with the AMP? I will be using these with a Sonos Sub for my living room in a new house because I am hoping the pivoting woofers etc. and true play will help solve some of the typical issues with in-ceiling speakers.
Hi everyone! I know that Sonos playbase/playbar do not reproduce Dolby Atmos, but my question is: Anyone having a modern Smart TV (Atmos compatible) connected to the playbar/playbase have achieved reproduce Atmos via on air TV-transcoding to Dolby Digital 5.1??? Theoretically, it could be possible as Atmos signal is hidden via Dolby True HD and DD+, and some TVs as LG OLED permit on air transcoding of those formats to dolby digital. Anyone can prove this? or by contrast there is no way to have DD 5.1 from a Dolby Atmos signal?? Stereo will be the only option? If I am gonna invest 2,000€ in a audio setup, I would like to have at least Atmos as DD 5.1. Thanks!
I’m sure that in the past a temporary price reduction on product has then seen new product releases soon afterwards. With the trade-in program generating some volume of sale of some of the current products, plus the price reduction on many items at the moment, and with the new controller app coming soon, will we see some new products soon, do you think? New HT products? New Play:3 and Play:5? Maybe even a Play:7? (I’m guessing at what a new, high-end speaker might be called!)
So where is this Sonos Radio that I have been reading about this morning from all the major outlets? Let me have it!!
I have not seen any post about this question in over a year, so hopefully there is current news? Can we get an update on the next version of the Playbar? As stated in many of the threads its overdue and the potential upgrades are needed. Personally, I'm looking for a blue tooth option since everything I have is running throught a mac mini and it has no optical out option... thanks
I am a happy Sonos user and am just curious why the sudden “large price increase across the Sonos line? The Play 5 gen 2 has gone up 50%,as an example…...This in an economy where unemployment is at an almost all time high. I can understand Sonos increasing prices, but at this time and such a large jump in cost to the consumer makes me wonder what is going on? Hmm? Is Sonos counting on the new high resolution App to justify this price jump? Normally,I’d have no issue with a well deserved/reasonable price jump,as companies require profits to justify improvements in products(Sonos is great at that)…..but….”at this time” and with such a huge increase, across the board,I am thinking marketing suicide or that High Res App is something special. Just thinking out loud.
This trade up program is bad. I have 3 Play 5s and all will be obsolete. Thanks SonoS. i expect better.
Hi All I have a Samsung QE55 Q9FN Tv, a Sonos Beam & have just purchased x2 Sonos One Speakers. I am trying to get 5:1 Surround Sound but to no avail ?! Everything is connected through a Samsung One Connect box, my Beam is connected using the HDMI Arc port, then the Tv, PS4 & Sony 4K player using the other HDMI ports. I have just purchased x2 Sonos One Speakers all paired up connected to my System / Account. If I play music through the Sonos App thats fine, sound comes through all Speakers, the Beam & both Sonos Ones. However when watching TV, using PS4 or 4K player sound only comes through the Beam ? I have made sure TV Audio settings, PS4 & 4K player are set to Dolby Digital but still sound only through the Beam. If I go on the Sonos App to My System to check what sound is coming in it says Dolby 2.0 when watching Tv, Dolby 5:1 when on PS4 & just Stereo when on 4K player but sound only comes through the Beam. So my Q. Is how on earth do I get 5:1 Surround Sound f
I just purchased another Sonos One speaker today for the purpose of setting up surround sound in my kitchen/family room (which are connected). Previously, I only had one of the Ones in my kitchen that I use to listen to music while I'm cooking or doing dishes and whatnot. I like to use the Alexa feature for timers and skipping songs when my hands are dirty. Now I have a Beam with 2x Sonos Ones bonded as surround sound speakers in the kitchen, facing the family room and TV. The problem I have (that everyone else seems to like) is that anytime I want to play music in the kitchen at night while my kids are sleeping, I have to listen to the beam and both Ones in surround sound. I don’t want this. Previously, I would just listen to the one speaker and it was plenty loud and not full of too much bass. I went through the process of turning off the surrounds and only listening to the beam in to the family room, but its too far away and I have to turn it up too loud to hear it. Then I went thr
A little over a week ago, I started a thread to engage with like minded people here: those that felt the way I did, as explained in my opening post there. That thread was titled: “The Sonos Brexit and pragmatic ways past it” and I intended that to be the last thread I open on this site. A link to that thread: https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/the-sonos-brexit-and-pragmatic-ways-past-it-6836056 That thread has grown beyond expectations. While everyone on it has contributed to keep it profanity free and largely rant free, with an occasional nudge by @Edward R in that effort, just by virtue of its length, it has become unwieldy as all long threads become. And it has many days to run, because the Sonos Brexit event, and the release of detailed information about it by Sonos, are both at least three months away. I therefore thought that it made sense to break my promise to myself - No More Threads - and make just this one exception to it, by opening this thread. It i
I would like to stop using the Sonos app completely with a SONOS 1 that I own. Is it possible for me to overwrite the firmware and use the device with other software to stream audio? I'm thinking of some sort of service running on a separate device that the SONOS can pick up, similar to bluetooth streaming.
Hello, I am considering getting the Sonos amp for a pair of Revel M106 speakers and a sub (Rythmik or SVS). I have seen a few threads on the Sonos amp subwoofer out not getting subwoofers loud enough. -Could Sonos provide the voltage output of the subwoofer out on the Sonos Amp? This would be helpful so we could know if it is a high enough level to drive the amps in non-Sonos subwoofers. -For someone that owns a Sonos Amp, play a test tone with the subwoofer out set to on and put a volt meter on it so we know? I really would like to order it but am unsure if it has enough signal level for these 2 subs. Thanks
The speakers are amazing! The app and the website are not. They are full of glitches, drops, and oh they start playing music BY THEMSELF. Yes, it was night. Everyone was asleep and the speakers started blasting music. I shut down every electronic in the house AND THEY STILL PLAYED. When one of the devices finally turned on, I went into the app, it took a while but it suddenly realized it was playing from my amazon account. I don’t have anything set up for voice commands so I know that wasn’t it, plus WE WERE SLEEPING NO ONE WAS USING THEIR DEVICES AND WE HADN’T USED SONOS IN A FEW DAYS. I love the sound quality of these speakers, but I don’t like the app. I highly doubt that the speakers themselves are at fault. Even this website is horrible. As I’m trying to write this it keeps coming up with related topics, but won’t go away and won’t let me select anything. It took me a while before I could get it to work just to post this. If you’re wondering: Sonos one Gen2 (x3) macOS Catalina
Why hasn’t Sonos figured out how to turn alarm feature off when outside home, geo fence, ect. Pretty disappointing considering the alarm feature is so great at getting everyone up. But pretty sad because Sonos cost so much from the start. You’d think that when you create that option you’d have the foresight to what to turn it off.
Hello Folks, First off, my Sonos has changed my life across the board. I cannot say enough good things about it. 10 yrs ago I purchased a Yamaha RX-V671. Solid piece of gear although a little long in the tooth. It came with Pandora burned into the system (along with Sirrus). I subscribed to Pandora and was able to use the “Line-in” feature of the Sonos. I can successfully use the RX-V671 to output Pandora to my Sonos. This past Christmas, my son convinced me to ditch Pandora and go with Spotify. With this whole pandemic, “shelter in place” thing going on, I am slowly working through my “honey-do” list. Today I tried every configuration I could muster for the Internet to try and output the Sonos CONNECT into the Yamaha RX-V671 so I could play Spotify in my living room. I tried bothe optical and analog (RCA jacks). I double checked the RCA cables with a continuity meter. Lines are clean. I tried using Audio 1, Audio 2 as well as the audio inputs that have an analog video conne
When is 30% only 20% or even 15%? When Sonos say it is. Just been to Richer Sounds (UK hifi chain) as they were advertising the 30% trade-in discount for the legacy products. I have 3 legacy items (ZP100 and 2 Connect amps). I formed the rational that Sonos were not going to change tack so I would take the opportunity to restructure my system (13 zones made up of 16 Sonos products) and replace the 3 legacy items with a Move, a Port and an SL,spending around close to £700. So checked the website and rang them to check prices and stock. All good, 30% of their listed prices. However by the time I got to the store today things have changed, when keying in the sale the discount was not as expected it was only off the rrp. I asked the guy to check with head office, which he kindly did. It seems that Sonos are only willing to “support” them with 30% off the rrp. The point is that Richer Sounds, John Lewis and Amazon are all selling the Move for £359 and the SL for £159 therefore the real dis
Now that my Connect:Amp will become legacy, can you please tell me which products will next become legacy products and when will this happen? I would like to know this, because if my stereos only had a couple of years of lifetime left, I will sell my whole system to get rid of Sonos. I’m very satisfied to your products btw, but I can’t afford to upgrade my system. Thanks!
Has anyone heard of when Sonos is ever going to update their Soundbar? I have a Beam now for a small room but moving into a bigger home early next year. The current Soundbar is so very dated and doesn’t have any fo the standard features of newer soundbars (voice assistant, ATMOS, HDMI, etc.). It even just plain looks old. Rumors?
Hi everyone. I want to buy some speakers to use outside. I have bose lifestyle in my living room and I love them. So I have been looking at the bose 251 but I can see they are very old, so now I’m also looking at the sonos outdoor. I know I want to use the sonos amp for the speakers, but I don’t know what to choose between bose 251 and sonos outdoor speakers. Anyone who will help with some input? Maybe one out there who have tried both? Thanks in advance
