Has anyone fiddled with the Apple Shortcuts automations for Sonos? I created an automation to play every Sonos Room. I know I could have just said “Hey Sonos. Play Everywhere”, but using that option plays the Rooms at whatever volume they were last set at. The beauty using the Apple Shortcuts app is you can preset a volume for each room. Unfortunately when I looked at what music can be played the choices were only radio stations in the Favorites list. Has anyone been able to access Sonos Playlists as well as Radio stations?
I am trying to play classical music from SiriusXM and get the message that it can’t locate the server. I am using my Sonos speaker app.
I’ve just seen on my Mac (running Tahoe 26.4.1) that the version of Sonos app I have on my computer will not open in future release of MacOS. Running Sonos S2 version 17.2. (the message directs me to an apple website to learn how to update to Apple Silicon version).I wondered if there will be a solution going forward or is this the end of the app for MacOS?
I have a bedroom on the larger size. My bed sits against a wall with a slope above it. Opposite is a chair and ottoman, adjacent to that a chaise lounge. I like to listen both while in bed, and reading in bed, and would prefer stereo sound. I have two era 300, but am now rethinking. My options would be utilizing the two era 300’s, one by the bed, one across( doesn’t seem optimal) and either two era 100’s beside the bed or opposite, or four, two beside, and two opposite. I love even just the single era 300 I have, but two I think is overkill and won’t give me the stereo sound I’d like. Would love the communities thoughts!
What follows applies to the Play and Move2. Let’s start by saying they sound GREAT as surrounds! 😊Minimum Sonos Controller Requirement89.00.49 (Android) 89.00.54 (iOS)Minimum Sonos System Requirements97.1-80312 (Android/iOS)Compatible SoundbarsArc Ultra Arc Beam Ultra Beam (Gen 2)Compatible Matching Portables * ^Two Play’s Two Move2’s What I learnedPortables used as a stereo pair must be broken which automatically sets then as separate rooms Upon first use as surrounds with a compatible soundbar you must follow the normal procedure to set them up (i.e. Setup surrounds) To stop using Portables as surrounds move them to a distance outside of the soundbars ability to recognize them. When back in range they will automatically connect. I found a crude distance beyond 25 feet to be adequate for my ArcUltra. It should be noted that my ArcUltra had a clear line of site to the Plays; therefore walls should shorten the distance considerably. To negate #4 above tap the toggle option in the soun
I've been a Sonos customer for over 14 years, and I feel compelled to share my experience with the Sonos app, because frankly, it continues to be one of the most frustrating pieces of software I use on a regular basis.Let me start by saying that I love the hardware. Sonos speakers sound fantastic, are reliable, and look great. If someone asks me whether Sonos makes excellent speakers, my answer is absolutely yes.The problem is the app (old or new).Simple tasks that should take seconds often turn into exercises in patience. Switching between audio sources feels unnecessarily complicated and far from intuitive. Grouping and ungrouping speakers works inconsistently, and when it doesn't behave as expected, figuring out why can become a troubleshooting session of its own. The search and browse experience is often confusing and cumbersome, making it harder than it should be to simply find and play music. And before anyone suggests that I'm struggling with technology, let me provide some conte
IDEA 1:For a home theatre setup I have an Arc Ultra, Era 300s as surrounds and a Sub Gen 3 I was thinking about how Night mode could be improved in a way to make the sound closer to you adding a feature where you can send the sound only to your surround speakers as I use Night mode at low Volume it’s hard to hear so I reckon if some how you can transmit the audio just to your surrounds as they sit closer to you then the soundbar, to me it just makes sense to have a feature like that. IDEA 2:i tend to adjust EQ,Surround,Sub,Height levels a lot when going from watching movies/TV shows to then listening to music I hope I’m not the only one doing that 😂. I was thinking why should we keep having to change it constantly. I reckon it would be beneficial if we can add different presets and customise and save them so then you could just click a preset for movies and then just change the preset to Music and atleast have a few presets there as you might need it for a few different genres. If the
I’m new to Sonos and am looking to setup my workshop with a Sonos system that will give smooth and immersive sound throughout. I’m thinking potentially four Era 100 speakers in the corners at about 10’ high and either another pair of 100’s or a pair of 300’s in the middle firing towards the center. The workshop is 50’x80’ with 16’ walls and 27’ peaked open ceiling. Walls are insulated metal panels so will likely have high reflectivity, but the space has relatively low to moderate slap echo. One of the short sides is drywall with fully OSB sheeting behind and full rockwool insulation, which might explain some reduction in echo.I’d like to be able to start with a pair or four speakers and then add to them to spread expense. I figure I’ll eventually have to add a subwoofer as well at some point. Not having any experience with Sonos, I’m open to suggestions about what to purchase and use in such an application. I ordered two Era 100SL speakers to start, but could always return them i
Ok, so I heard that Sonosequencer (iphone aop) could allow you to connect a second sub mini to your main system (In my case, an arc, two era 100’s and the first sub mini). I went ahead and bought a 2nd sub mini and tried it out. It took some time, but the Sonosequencer app finally reconized the 2nd sub and I connected it. It sounded AMAZING! Whats even cooler, is that both sub minis appeared in the native Sonos app and could be both controlled (gain, etc.)I was ready to keep it enjoy this new setup, but my experience told me to make sure that if it got mangled somehow, I could always get the whole system back up and running again with two sub minis. The second time was NOT a charm, and the Sonosequencer app could not ever find the 2nd sub.Bottom line: I had two sub minis working with my system and LOVED it, but since it’s not reliable to set up with Sonosequencer, I’m returning the 2nd sub mini and getting my $500 back.Just reminded me how disappointing it is that Sonos does not s
Hey guys, I've used a SONOS Playbar for years. Recently, I upgraded to a Beam Gen 2 because of the newer tech and connections. Sadly, the Beam 2 doesn't sound as good as I hoped, and Dolby Atmos isn't giving me that full immersion even while having Play 1's as rear surrounds and Sub gen 4 in the system. Now I'm thinking of returning it and going for the Arc Ultra, but since the Beam Ultra was just announced, I'm torn between those two. The new Beam Ultra has a bunch of upgrades, including upward-firing drivers for Dolby Atmos immersion and I also wonder if new sound architecture might be better than the Arc Ultra? I don't care much about AI functions; I just want the best sound quality and immersion. What do you think I should do?
I'm looking to design a speaker setup in my family room without any additional in-wall/in-ceiling wiring. No one in my family is a particular audiophile, and I'm under no illusions that this setup will provide incredible sound. What I'm looking for is a reasonable setup that provides clear audio for TV/movies/sports and can extend that audio to the in-ceiling speakers in the kitchen. We are putting a Frame TV above the fireplace (I know), so was hoping to skip the soundbar both to let me put the TV a few inches lower and avoid the aesthetic penalty of another device below the TV.As you can see, the space is pretty large as it is open with the kitchen, foyer, and steps. The ceilings are not vaulted, but are 10 feet.Given it's too late to put additional in-wall wiring in, my original concept, as you can see in the floorplan, was to put wireless speakers next to the TV and skip the soundbar. I'd have wireless rears on a table behind the couch, and then in-ceilings in the kitchen for either
I know I'm dreaming here... But!Can we get a USB dongel, like the Line-In one, that provides a music library share via a plug-in mini SD Card?It would meet so many user's requests. Edit to make it more explicit, I am asking for a device to plug into tne Sonos USB port. There are already a huge number of similar devices to plug into non-Sonos hardware.
I currently own Arch ultra with Era 300s and Gen 4 woofer is it possible to add other speakers and have a great dolby for my movies and music
I am looking for a speaker to have in my Lanai out int the open that does not have to always be taken in.Power is available. Does Sono’s have one or look for any other suggestion. Thanks Glen
Would love to not have to buy a JBL party box. I want to buy Sonos, but they need to make a true outdoor party box.
I know this is likely just hollering into the wind at this point, but this remains a recurring issue dating back months and months where updates to Sonos S1 Mac app are continually released with completely invalid/missing version data (see https://en.community.sonos.com/topic/show?tid=6931739&fid=229131 and before that https://en.community.sonos.com/topic/show?tid=6929356&fid=229131)The latest version, as downloaded from https://support.sonos.com/en-us/downloads ➡️ https://www.sonos.com/redir/controller_software_mac ➡️ https://update-software.sonos.com/software/DILU1Q33hC/Sonos_57.23-74170.dmg continues to have no valid CFBundleVersion nor CFBundleShortVersionString values specified within the app’s Info.plist file. When running, the app itself reports multiple types of versions within the “About My Sonos System” window, however none of those have any bearing on what the software reports in macOS itself and thus, more critically, to any patching or management systems attempting
Hi allI am waiting the delivery of a Beam 2, Mini sub and 2x Era100s as an undated of my Canton DM55. The Beam and Sub with go under the TV sub either side or behind the cabinet, any advice appreciated. the main question is where do I put the rear surrounds? The main seating is on the brown sofa near the book case and the striped chair. there is a side table to the left of the sofa and a bookcase with CDs to the right of the chair. Would that work of should I look at the top of the main bookcase?any guidance or thoughts please.
I’m looking for some advice on getting the best possible audio performance from a Sonos system.I’m particularly interested in recommended settings for improving sound quality, maintaining a stable connection, and reducing interruptions when streaming music. I’d also like to know whether network configuration, Wi-Fi performance, or speaker placement can make a noticeable difference. For those who have used Sonos systems for a while, what settings or troubleshooting steps have made the biggest difference to your overall listening experience?Any practical tips or recommendations would be appreciated.
I built a custom Content Integration through the Developer Portal (developer.sonos.com/s/integrations) to connect Navidrome, a self-hosted, open-source music server, to my Sonos system. It worked. It showed up in the app's service catalog, I added it, and it played fine for about a week. Then, with no change on my end, it disappeared from the app entirely and hasn't come back since — it looks less like something broke and more like it was deliberately pulled.Setup details:- Service Name: Navidrome- Distribution: Development- Service Availability: Global- Authentication: OAuth- SMAPI and reporting endpoints both publicly reachable, valid cert, respond correctly to requests- Sonos ID under Service Deployment Settings matches the household ID shown in-app- Same Sonos account on both app and Developer Portal- App/system fully updated (currently 87.00.38)- Deleted and recreated the integration from scratch (new Integration ID) to rule out stale state — same result, doesn't reappear- It's bee
I have a variety of wireless speakers, including Bose,Sonos and Pioneer. If you think I'm ever going to invest another dollar in Sonos products, think again. The Sonos app is about the worse thing a company can do to itself. It's downright product suicide.. the app failures aren't innocuous or trivial, they are of the type that render playing music impossible. On top of the long-running "unable to connect to the Sonos system". Which of course prevents playing music, now today it cannot connect to load service information. Which of course prevents playing music. Never, ever had this problem with Bose.Sonos, you may have fooled me once, but never, ever again Sincerely, a former customer
I was comparing these 2, as with the WiiM Pro (and Pro Plus) you can stream to Sonos as well through DLNA and we have a Sonos system. But honestly the WiiM offer is half the price and seems better across the board. What in the offering makes the Port worth double? Maybe I am missing something? Is it just the name?
2 actually, both of them have probably been asked for before.1. Ability to sort Favourites on home screen.2. Individual device volume settings for alarms. This wouldn't be a problem if devices came on at the same volume. A setting of 20 on an Era 100 is not the same volume as 20 on a Roam. I have tried setting individual alarms but they're out of sync. I'm having to group the 2 devices and have the Roam come on at an almost inaudible volume. Happy to group them but would like to control volume by device and not group.
Before the switch to the new app (2024) using Spotify Connect on a speaker wouldn’t delete the current queue. It would just switch over to Spotify connect and once you ended the session you could return to the existing queue.I know this might be niché but is there a possibility to return to this old behavior or is it intentional that someone in the household sending music to my speaker via Spotify connect instantly deletes the current Sonos queue? Yes, I could save my tracks in Sonos playlists if I want a permanent list. This is a feature request to restore the old behavior so to say
I would like Sonos to add a volume-leveling/volume-offset feature that allows users to compensate for differences in loudness between different sources and between different stations or streams within the same source. The problemDifferent Sonos sources often have substantially different perceived volume levels. For example, switching between a TV input, Line-In, a music service, or another source can result in a significant change in volume.Even more importantly, different radio stations or streams from the same source can have different volume levels. Switching from one station to another can therefore cause the volume to suddenly become much louder or quieter, even though the Sonos volume setting has not changed. This is particularly inconvenient when listening to radio stations, because the listener has to repeatedly adjust the volume whenever changing stations.Requested featurePlease add configurable volume offsets/normalization at multiple levels:Per source: Allow a user to specify
