How Can I Improve Sonos Audio Performance?

Aside from whether a particular format works or not, there are no subtle changes in audio quality due to network reliability or efficiency.  Streaming doesn’t work like that, there are no bits or bytes that, if missed, make the sound less pleasing.  You either get the data, or you do not (and streaming is far more reliable in getting the data through unscathed due to buffering) and if you don’t get the data, you get dropouts and stuttering.  

As to ways to improve reliability to eliminate dropouts, the standard advice for WiFi applies.  Also, I’ve found the more basic the network, the better.  “Enterprise” or professional style networks seem to be problems for some, due to the myriad of non-standard configurations that are possible. My network consists of a single ISP provided WiFi 6 gateway, as basic as can be, in a 1100 sqft condo surrounded by a dozen other WiFi networks on all sides, and Sonos is rock solid.

Probably, but nothing in the post that breaks TOS, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Nothing unique to Sonos on placement or the other audio issues.

Non audio but in my opinion a very good idea is to put a good quality surge suppressor in line with each speaker.

Another non audio item is to add a remote power switch to any speaker where it would be difficult to unplug it. 

It’s certainly an odd first post from a newcomer to the forums.

Tagging onto to this.  I’m on day 2 of installing ERA 100 SL.  I like a lot of speech radio & recordings, as well as classical music.  But speakers are very bassy and somewhat muffled.  Have turned down bass to lowest, turned up treble to highest, turned off surround, but none of that has made an iota of difference.  Its on a glass table at the moment, would another surface be better?
