sonos app is a deal breaker

I have a variety of wireless speakers, including Bose,Sonos and Pioneer.

If you think I'm ever going to invest another dollar in Sonos products, think again.

The Sonos app is about the worse thing a company can do to itself.

It's downright product suicide..  the app failures aren't innocuous or trivial, they are of the type that render playing music impossible.  On top of the long-running "unable to connect to the Sonos system". Which of course prevents playing music, now today it cannot connect to load service information.  Which of course prevents playing music.    Never, ever had this problem with Bose.

Sonos, you may have fooled me once, but never, ever again

Sincerely, a former customer

Wounds like a local network problem, if you wwnt to fix it let us know.

Edit:

Sounds like a local network problem, if you want to fix it let us know.

Blaming the app for playback issues is almost always wrong, like blaming your TV remote, for a bad picture.

Sounds, want. And likely no comma needed.

I type bad on this tablet, and don't proofread rant responses that are likely wasted time.

No network issue, i was able to post the message after all.

besides, take a look at  your own community forum for complaints about the Sonos app.

if that isn't enough, try a simple google search, this is a well known and well documented problem.

but i do appreciate your interest in problem solving.

I know it’s odd, but people tend not to post on a forum when things are working. The people who post here are looking for help in getting their systems working like the vast majority of users, if you compare the sales numbers versus those who post here.

One of the challenges that many people don’t realize is that Sonos tends to use the network in ways that most other devices don’t, and as a result, expose network issues that many single point devices don’t. But since you’ve not given any indication of what issues you’re experiencing, it’s hard for the few who spend time here trying to assist those who are experiencing these problems on how to resolve them. Unfortunately, without any details, there isn’t much this community can do to help you, beyond suggesting that you call Sonos Support to discuss your concerns.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

However, if you’d like assistance from people like @Stanley_4 , relating what issues, along with other specifics would go a long way.

Unfortunately, we in the public don’t have access to the data that appears in a system diagnostic , but people like @Stanley_4 have a long history of being quite helpful. But Sonos employees can certainly see that data, once you provide them the number to look up…but you do have to call them before they’ll look.

Which are the other makes you’ve bought?

Why have you invested in so many different brands, since they are not compatible and so prevent you from sharing music around your home?

I just tested my Sonos App, it’s working OK, that feels odd?

All five of my apps are working, probably another four on old tablets in the spares box too but I didn't check.

All 23 speakers working too.

Yep, that does seem kinda silly to post

How many simultaneous audio rooms will your competing systems support? SONOS supports up to 32 speakers — and the speakers can be time aligned. This is well beyond typical audio system capability, and requires robust network support. Users tend to claim that their network is “perfect” if they can web browse and play simple audio or video in a room or two. Larger SONOS systems require more careful network setup.

We notice that certain routers generate complaints because their default setup does not properly support SONOS. The solution is often simple, sometimes impossible for some ISP supplied routers. But, we need more information about your SONOS system and network before we can offer any practical help.

I’ve been a SONOS user since product introduction in 2005. I wouldn’t be here if it had been a struggle all this time.
