Ok, this isn't a formulated or considered question, nore have I really looked for a solution?! - its just something that's bothering me... I wonder if anyone else has the same issue or a solution??!! With the invent of online music services - putting literally every artist and album at a couple of clicks away - I'm struggling to remember what to listen to and over the years have found my musical listening menu shrink and stagnate. I grew up with the invent of the CD - prior to MP3 players and Sonos - I had various piles of CDs - broadly speaking, 3 piles at all times: 1.) CDs I was in the process of listening to (and too lazy to take back to the rack) 2.) CDs I'd just bought (again, stacked next to the CD player) 3.) The full rack of CDs where everything else was tidied into. So my listening history had some kind of physical order. And the beauty being, this had some kind of order. As I thought about things, CDs migrated from the rack to the 'listening to' pile and back.
Did anyone see the Sonos commercial last night in between the Grammys? I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it. I have never seen any of their ads before. I thought it was a great spot for it. - Kris 🙂
Well everyone, it's Friday again! What's playing? For those of us in the US with a long weekend or anyone else taking one anyway, do you wind down the week or spin up the weekend? Maybe a little bit of both? Recommend a playlist or favorite album for the weekend or for just getting through the Friday. I've got some Bruce Springsteen playing myself right now. "Working on the Highway."
Dear Sonos, your recent email suggesting "House Party, Family Dance Off, Weekend BBQ etc I find deeply irritating as the one thing Sonos is currently hopeless at and you have systematically mucked up over the last few "upgrades" is creating, then manipulating queues in a DJ like setting. Do you guys at Sonos actually use this software in anger, I find it hard to believe you do? Are you hell bent on integrating with voice control, streaming services etc. to the complete detriment of the original Sonos experience? The software certainly looks pretty - it just has lost all semblance of functionality. I was DJ at my home New Years Eve bash and I was hard pushed to stop myself throwing my Android Tablet out the window the interface was so rubbish. Please listen to your users and get this sorted and until then leave off sending out emails stating what the system supposedly canndo when it patently can't. If this appears to come across as a rant then I am sorry but it is

Looks like new CEO may be open to an IPO, though. He's a sales and marketing type, so I'm afaid Sonos' long run of great engineering and support may be ending. Too bad, if true.
John MacFarlane, CEO and co-founder of smart speaker company Sonos is stepping down after 15 years of leading the company. The Sonos blog has his full statement Statement. What does this mean for the company future, does it signify serious issues or is it the company taking a new direction and needing a fresh outlook? Time will tell but given the redundancies of last year, the delay to Alexa integration, and recent debarcles with Spam on this forum, the signs are not good. Alternativley recent moves, openinh up the API for example, could show the company moving to a more open set up that differs from the values one of the Founders had. Let's hope the company pulls through and prospers.
I have just bought a Sonos Connect (not the Connect Amp) with the intention of outputting it to a Sony Soundbar I wasn't using. I assumed that the sound bar would be classified as 'powered' speakers but I'm not getting any sound output at all. Everything else is fine, I can get playback of a turntable I've connected to the line in out of my other Play 1's and I've checked the soundbar is functioning by connecting a different source. What am I missing?
There's a big change happening at Sonos! https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/10/onos-ceo-john-macfarlane-steps-down/
I am returning to Spotify. Calm radio performance is not as claimed for me. My TV has better sound quality. Also, Calm radio customer service person who introduced himself in an email as President, blamed the failure on Sonos. Of course we Sonos customers know that Sonos is the best customer service in the market and solves problems almost instantly. I cannot access the Calm product. Atmospherics are unavailable. Customer service is a joke. They provide articles only. No phone is available for customer service that I could find. Then the President gave out my user name and password to a third party. And the list goes on to include the President emailing me telling me that if I post my experience with Calm radio that Calm radio will come after me with its legal team. I assume that his statement indicates that he operates in a totalitarian state. I canceled Calm radio. And as of this moment, I cannot access Calm radio even though Calm radio took my money for one month. Yet, Calm radio sa
When will Amazon Music Unlimited be available on Sonos? Not Prime Music which is already available.
Hello, I have a setup with a playbar connected to the tv. I want to connect my laptop to the tv to stream movies using an hdmi cable. I tried but there is no sound from my playbar. My problem is that i have replaced my bose with a sonos system, but now i cant get sound the playbar. My set up: 1) tv - playbar connected 2) laptop to be connected using hdmi cable for video and aux for sound. Issue: there is no sound streaming from my playbar. Look forward to hearing from the experts about a workaround,
I am an integrator and have been in business for 11 years. I am trying to spec a system for a customer who currently has a 3.1 system with a Zone 2 on a Denon receiver. I am recommending upgrading to a 5.1.2 Atmos experience, they want the current zone 2 which is outdoors and also want to add the kitchen and dining into the mix. I have done this many times with Sonos Connect Amps and a Sonos Connect for the receiver, but the experience is awful on the control side and depending on the receiver we use, latency is a big problem on jobs like these for zones like the kitchen that are close by. (Note: I fully understand that advanced control systems can remedy the control issue but IMO you loose the elegance of the Sonos app which is the Sonos experience for Connect users, I may as well use a multi-zone network receiver.) The obvious solution is a Sonos receiver or a partner that licenses Sonos software for compatibility. The only Sony receiver that would be capable of delivering Atmos
We have Kumar's topic on recommended music other than classical and pop. Let's start another one on recommended "film music". As with the other thread I am particularly looking for recommendations that combine artistic merit with good sound/recording quality. One film the music of which blew me away is The Hours with Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep. The music was written for it (at least in art) by Philip Glass. It is interesting to see how images can enhance the musical experience. The corollary is of course that listening to the album without the film could be a bit of a disappointment. What would you recommend?
Spotify today announced Spotify Connect, which will be a series of hardware from well-known hardware to seamlessly integrate spotify onto devices where the control is from the regular Spotify application on your phone or similar. Streaming is still done directly through internet, so the phone isn't in charge of it, just controls it. I really do hope that Sonos will follow this approach as well, I believe there are a lot more like me that primarily uses Sonos for Spotify, and being able to use the same app as always would be awesome. Seems like there is already a feature request over at ask.sonos.com https://ask.sonos.com/sonos/topics/support_spotify_connect_to_allow_users_to_use_the_spotify_app_as_the_controller
Interesting. The standard version of these were being rhapsodized over by the "audiophile" press a year or two ago. Now they're available as a pricier alternative to the Play:5. http://referencehometheater.com/press-release/kef-announces-release-ls50-wireless-complete-fully-active-system/
Please bear with me here for a bit. I have the majority of my music in ALAC form on a Synology NAS and I'm successfully accessing it through a Sonos Connect that is attached to an audiophile speaker system. Separately, I have a lot of music that's accessible via iTunes on my MacbookPro, some of which is ALAC and some of which is whatever Apple provides when you stream music (or download it?) from Apple Music. In preparation for a New Year's Eve party, I've been gathering about 100 songs onto a Dance playlist in iTunes that I want to play through our sound system on NY Eve. Probably about half of the songs are ones already on my NAS in ALAC form and half of them would be ones that I've accessed through Apple Music and/or have purchased on iTunes but not uploaded to the NAS. Here's my question: What's the best way for me to be sure that my iTunes Dance playlist music is available via my Sonos Connect? I am perfectly happy to purchase all the tracks I don't already own and up
I'm looking to expand my musical exposure. I appreciate the other thread sharing artists, but sometimes its cool to see a "mix" of songs for a given mood. For me Spotify is my source of choice, so thus the name of the thread, but any source is cool since we all use different ones. https://open.spotify.com/user/robok/playlist/4fXCoZF4ioppgLDd1sZu0R which is a bunch of upbeat pop songs, that's why i need to hear more! Looking forward to seeing any range of styles! Rob.
Hi, The ability to play Spotify direct from the app is awesome. We have a Spotify Premium account - when setting up my other family members to play directly from their Spotify app do I use my Sonos account since it's tied to the 'system' or do they create their own Sonos account? Thanks in advance.
Hi, I just bought a second Play5 (Gen 2) for stereo pairing. I have the Echo hook to the (R) Play5 speaker via in-line connector. When switching to in-line I hear the Alexa audio coming out of the (L) Play5 speaker. Is there a way to set up L&R zones so my Alexa audio comes out both speakers?
As a long time Sonos user I have been following their development closely, especially in the last few years with the strong shift towards on-line services. The more I think about it the less sense this seems to make (it did make sense for a while). Isn't this a self-defeating strategy? I use on-line streaming services too but I am not likely to pay for more than one of those. So if I subscribe to one only why should I use the Sonos app to make use of it? Why not use the proprietary app (if there is one)? Of course there are some good reasons still because the Sonos equipment is pretty good, but it also shows its age and limitations and some of the reasons for using it in the past may no longer (fully) apply (Sonosnet). The number of mails on this forum in which the dismissive answer to a (new) user question asking for a specific feature is "sorry, no can do because the internal memory is limited and cannot handle that" is considerable and the answer, though true, is becoming somewhat s
Just seen a post on the Bluesound forum, their latest BluOS software will now index over 200,000 tracks.
Need to find the best pricing available. So my company can buy this product in bulk.

What will impress me the most ?? I know on the advert they say money by pink Floyd sounds amazing with all the coins floating around you... What would you recommend ??
The last couple of days there has been a lot of spam on the forum Obviously it's irritating but I'm also concerned that Sonos is dragging it's heels in removing the obvious spam posts. Many of these are multiple posts by the same users. What is being done to resolve this and cannot Sonos take advantage of some senior posters to help police/moderate this?
