Ran across this article and thought it was an interesting topic of discussion.  https://www.musicradar.com/news/an-audio-engineer-explains-why-dolby-atmos-music-is-definitely-going-to-supersede-stereoDo others agree that atmos is going to supersede stereo?  I don’t, for a few different reasons.1 - We have decades of music recorded in stereo, music which is still highly consumed.  Attempts to modernize that music in to Atmos (Tidal) simply don’t sound right.  Of course, that doesn’t mean new music can’t be recorded in atmos, but unlike movies where you can upgrade to atmos and the audio comes out ‘right’, the same can’t be done for music.2 - Live music comes from a stage, not from all around you. I would argue that even when you can an original track in atmos, it doesn’t sound right to the brain since we instinctively know that music comes from a stage.  It always has throughout history.  Again, movies are different.3 - Keeping with the live music aspect, I don’t know that artists want

Cadillac has Bose, Lincon has Revel it would be nice to see SONOS in a luxury car brand, preferably American Luxury brand. I personally hope they could swip Lincon from Revel. lol Though Revel is okay as it is a Samsung own brand and connected to JBL, Harmon Kardon, AKG and etc.

So Sonos had their current quarter earnings call that exceeded the market’s expectations and more. This was after a few quarters of truly mediocre results. So what’s next for them? Just wanted to open it up to see what’s next for Sonos. 

I am enjoying the new Sonos radio, and having been listening to the Concert Hall station. it is reasonably well curated and I have heard some good an interesting recordings. However, it becomes almost unlistenable because the station usually plays only one movement from a piece of music. This is fine for background music, but makes it intolerable for serious music discovery. Very few companies take classical music streaming seriously, but Sonos is well positioned to be better. I hope that they up they make their service better for classical enthusiasts.

What happened to the Funk?

After upgrading to desktop controller version 12.2.2, several of my old Sonos components are no longer visible, and can therefore not be used with the controller. They work fine with the old sonos controller version. Is this Sonos way of trying to force me to throw the older hardwre components away and buy new ones. The old ones works fine.Not even giving me a choice or a heads up when installing the new software controller. Very unethical and immoral.  Is this correct Sonos? I hope I’m wrong! I’m aware that new hardware features may not work with old software. Fine, but not supporting old hardware in new software is almost criminal. What if General Motors made their old cars stop working after a software update..?? Best,-tk

Will there ever be Spotify podcasts on Sonos, appears this has been an ask for years now. 

I’m building my hi res music collection and am wondering if it’s worth the pursue 24bit/96khz quality. Currently Sonos can support up to 24bit/48kHz. However, with the release of S2, people are saying S2 shows the possibility of hi res music support.   Is Sonos planning to support higher khz with S2?

Hello, I'm looking for a solution to stream Musik on my tv and have that playing in stereo of my 5.1 system. And still keep them grouped in that 5.1 room for when I watch a movie.If that's understandable.It works when I use Spotify on my mobile, but I'd like to watch for example twitch music streams in stereo.Thank you for your help. 

I have a huge investment in Sonos, with a playbar, a boost, a play 5 (2nd gen), 2 play 3s, a one, 4 play 1s, 2 connect amps, a connect, and now a move.  I absolutely LOVE the ability to move around the house and have the same thing playing in all or any rooms, or different things playing in various rooms.  Unfortunately, not all the people in my household appreciate music as much as I do, and often balk at anything playing anywhere at all.  I would rather get rid of some of them before any of my Sonos gear, but alas, this is not an option.  I also have a huge investment, including time, in my music library, and all geared towards use with Sonos.  If I can’t listen to Sonos at times due to others being home and not wanting to hear it, my music enjoyment is then sharply limited to what I have stored in my phone and through crappy earphones, which I would rather not wear at all. I recently updated my Play:1 to Sonos OS: S2 Version 12.0.3 both on my laptop and iPhone. Since then I am unable to access Spotify via the Browse tab on my phone Sonos app. I am able to use my Spotify service via the Search tab to find songs etc. and play them on my Play:1 but am unable to directly access in my phone app my curated Spotify self-created playlists, suggested playlists, etc. since I cannot access Spotify via the Browse tab. I have logged out of my Sonos account, relogged back in, removed my Spotify account, re-added it, re-authorized etc — all to no avail. Whenever I press on the Spotify tab in the Browse tab a “circling” waiting graphic pops up and the app becomes unresponsive if I try to press the back arrow or access the other tabs like Search while the “circling” waiting graphic is spinning. Eventually, after a few minutes the app screen changes from the waiting icon to a screen that states for me to re-authorize Spotify but pressing on the “re-authorize” shortcut but

Looks like a lot of other genres have been touched on but haven't seen this group yet. I'm new to Sonos...had my Play 5 for a month then it lost its WiFi ability...they are sending me a new one. Love the sound, but from these genres, what has really stood out to play on my Sonos? Thanks

Is there a way to add Radio Paradise to the Sonos menu anywhere in order to be able to have a shortcut to stream Radio Paradise?

Recently, SONOS announced that it was going to stop supporting playing music from "on this iPhone" in the near future and that Apple Music was an alternative. So, I created an Apple Music account and was able to upload the music from my iTunes app located on my PC to the Apple Music cloud. However, the playlists on iTunes have not been transferred to Apple Music. Is there a way of configuring iTunes and/or Apple Music so that I can create and edit playlists in one location (my PC) and then have it automatically synced to Apple Music? Thanks, Tom

I’ve just bought the Sonos One. How do I get Alexa to play my playlists from Apple Music? I can physically select music to play off Apple Music but when asking Alexa she won’t play, something about Amazon Music is mentioned

I am not sure there is a thread on what Sonos is truly about - the music, so this might be an interesting thread. I have left out classical because that deserves a thread of its own and modern pop because it all sounds the same to me. I have Phil Keaggy strumming Solitude from his Acoustic Sketches album right now in the bedroom on a play 1 pair and sounding very good indeed. Recently heard and equally good music and mastering: 1. Michel Petrucciani and NHOP 2. Beyond the Missouri Sky - Metheny and Haden 3. Chiaroscuro - Fresu and Towner 4. Jan Johannsen - Jazz pa Svenska 5. The Astounding Eyes of Rita - Anouar Brahem 6. Last Dance/Jasmine - Jarrett and Haden 7. Saturday Morning - Ahmad Jamal 8. Melos - Paolo Fresu All but the last are ITunes 256kbps purchases, the last a lossless CD rip. Very little lost in translation for the lossy thing and Sonos convenience. Any recommendations on similar music that uses the silence between the notes effectively?

So I have had my sonos for over a year. I am using a play 5 gen 1 that has a stereo patch cable connecting it to the tv. I am an employee with a home integration company so it’s no where near my first time using this product. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that only the HBO GO apps sound quality has changed drastically since the last time I had used it. It used to be pretty clear, crackle and pop here or there but nothing crazy. All of the sudden it is muffled and I can hardly hear the words being spoken, I’ve tried adjusting the EQ, even going though my tv speakers on my Sony it doesn’t sound quite right. So I’m sure it’s something with the way HBO go formats it’s audio. I’ve eliminated the possibility that it’s an issue with my fire stick, I see there seem to be other issues with hbo go as well thought the forum. I’m just wondering if anyone has ran into this issue before, All I know is winter is coming and I hope to be able to hear it properly!

I've seen a lot of web articles from the normal tech sites talking annot Sonos Event that should have happened today. Everyone thought Sonos would be announcing new speakers during this 2 day even but I haven't heard or seen anything at all.

Sonos holds a two day press briefing in New York and not a snippet of news about the event anywhere. Anybody have any intel on the event?
