We have been building some higher end homes and find the clients want larger and larger TV’s but when mounting these TV’s over a fire place, book shelf or other obstacle it leaves very little room for a sound bar. Has anybody else thought of taking a sound bar and having it come apart in two pieces that could be mounted on each side of the TV vertically or horizontally, this would provide room for the TV to be mounted lower giving a better viewing angle yet keeping the center audio projection at the TV.

If you are installing TVs in higher end homes, why not offer a “higher end” option like in-wall speakers on either side of the TV rather than a soundbar?

Agreed on this. Many better solutions to consider before dismantling a soundbar. I you used in-wall speakers, or wall mounted, you could pretty easily power them with an amp, placed behind the TV or in another room, out of sight.
