We bought a new Roam for our home that already has 7 other Sonos devices. We are a longterm user of Sonos equipment and have been very supportive over the years. We have found out the new Roam will not work with legacy equipment in the network. I was told it would need to create a new network, an S2 network for it would operate. Clearly a huge departure from the concept of buying devices which all will work in one network … if you want all the rooms to have the same music, not problem; well not anymore for legacy users. I was told I had two options, a new network, upgrade old equipment and of course return the new Roam. The new network doesn’t work well for us. An upgrade of the range of $2,000 Cdn seems unbelievable, we get nothing new, same music as we use to have. Only a couple years ago the CEO of Sonos stated that he had heard from the legacy users, we respected that we were there in the beginning years. He stated he would keep the “two operating systems” to accomodate the legacy
I will never buy sonos again.I do not need a police gear that decide what I can or cannot listen through the gear that I bought.Nor buy a device that, one day, decide to stop to get connected to my wifi. And then, while wired connected, then stops working from one day to another with no change.Sonos = planned obsolescence. The sound is good yes. That is all ! The only positive point. The gear will go to trash ! I have no time to reconfigure it from scratch when I want to stream a song. You are a great rogues band. Congrats dude.I know you do not care because you have no respect for anyone and anything, people neither the planet. We start not carrying much about sonos and sonos like companies either.
This is getting very annoying. Do not force reboot my PC after updating the S2 controller. At least have the curtesy to inform or ask me.
Hi, Owner of a Sonos Arc, would be usefull to be able to schedule on/off for speech enhancement & night sound. This will avoid to active them manually when kids are sleeping, and to forget to remove it at the end of the movie/night.
My play 5 needs returning for a replacement, got a email saying I would receive a label within 1 day… it’s been 6 now. After numerous emails I still an yet to get a response.. what has happened to the customer service? The technical guys are awesome but Sonos are being seriously let down by the returns!!
its way past time am I right? Whos with me?
TL;DR: support for controlling Sonos system through mobile app, without local Wi-Fi connectionContext:I have a Sonos systems in both my home and the production facility I work out of.All of our Sonos devices are hardwired to the local networks, as are most of our internet-connected devices since we have a gigabit network & they need an optical connection to take advantage of that.Because of this, I prefer to keep my mobile devices off Wi-Fi since my 5G cell coverage on my phone is actually more reliable.Since the Sonos devices are connected to the internet anyway, why am I unable to control them from anywhere? Why do I have to be on the local network?
I considered buying my two adult kids a new Sonos Roam each, but these speakers are designed to last only a few years, because the battery is not replaceable. Sonos, you need to be a responsible global citizen. We cannot keep polluting this planet the way we have been, particularly over the past 50 years - the period of turbo charged, rampant consumerism. You can change the design - allow simple battery replacement; and make the speaker, all your speakers, fixable. If the water resistance goes out the window, so be it.Market your environmentally friendly credentials then. Put people and planet before profit, and you, and all of us, will profit in the long run.
Hi I am about to purchase SONOS ARC with sub and two rear speakers. Just wanted to make sure that it will be compatible with my Samsung 65’ inch series 7 Model RU7100.If anyone has feedback and experience on that will be highly appreciated as it is quite a bit of investment. It has 3 hdmi ports with one of them showing HDMI ARC if that helps.
15+ Sonos devices, all hard wired. 10 of which are the newest Sonos Amps. The connection to LiveXLive is suddenly broken. No issues with the LiveXLive app itself or LiveXLive in a browser. Just wanted to report this, in case this roots with the Sonos UI. Thanks!
Hello,I’ve noticed a few moths ago that crossfade doesn’t work anymore, whatever the streaming service I use: Qobuz, Bandcamp, SoundCloud…My setup:Sonos Connect (2nd generation) Sonos OS: S2 App version: 13.4.1 Hardware version: 1.17.5.5-2.1Could someone help me fix this?
I’m new to Sonos- just installed a white ARC and will be receiving a white sub this week. A pair of white One SLs are in my future as soon as they are available.Something that bothers me on the white sub is the black donut on the openings. I would prefer it to be the same white as the cabinet- or even some color that works well in my room. I would love to have that magnetically attached along with a rainbow selection of colors to allow for some customization on the sub.I know vibration is an issue, and I know black was likely chosen to blend with the inner drivers area inside the opening- but in black it looks to me like the sub’s guts are prolapsing out instead. I could even see changing the donut color for seasons or holidays. Think “Apple Watch band”. And think extra revenue! Thanks!
When the Internet connection is broken somehow and I hear the sonos alarm sound instead of the radio sender or the playlist I originally wanted to hear I have the following feature request: Pleased make, that the alarm sound automatically switches to original sound when the network connection or Internet access is back. Thanks four your attention
hi, only one phone can connect to sonos one sl? other phone cannot connect ?
I have a living room TV/Music setup with a Beam and 2x Play One’s that’s connected as “Living Room”. I also have a turntable connected to an AMP within the same room of the house that I have setup to autoplay with the “Living Room” speakers.I’d like to have the option to control the “Living Room” volume from the AMP’s touch controls without having to walk across the room to adjust the touch controls on the speakers or to have my phone near me.
I successfully paired my comcast remote to control playbar volume, but every time I raise or lower volume, I get an annoying white symbol that pops up, like the ends of a cable. Any fix for this?
I don’t really see a place here for future product suggestions. At a big box store I noticed that a wireless mesh network system had nodes whose design somewhat resembled the Sonos One. It occurred to me that Sonos speakers might be able to double as mesh wireless nodes, or at least as repeaters.I have no idea of whether this is technically possible in current hardware, but my rough understanding is that Sonos already does something like mesh networking to keep music in perfect sync.If not possible in current hardware, perhaps in a future product line? (Though I do appreciate your singular focus on delivering great audio...)
Thanks to Sonos I can't use my FREAKING VOLUME BUTTON on my own phone to control music in my own home. That idea isn't yours, it isn't unique, and it's stupid that 1) you even have a patent on it and 2) that you actually tried to enforce it. It's so f.ing asinine to prevent the simple and UNORIGINAL idea of using volume buttons to control VOLUME on a wireless device that you have guaranteed I will never, in my life ever ever ever buy a Sonos product. Ever. I'm sure you have filters on these forums, but let me tell you from the bottom of my heart; ***** S O N O S*Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.*
I think as many others I would love to be able to use Spotify connect to start music directly into groups.Echo Devices from Amazon are shown in Spotify Connect but also the individual groups that are existing. So my request to Sonos would be to let the central Sonos speaker which might also be the Ethernet connection for the Sonos net also cast speaker groups for each existing group and also always keep each individual speaker shown in Spotify connect instead of overwriting it with the current grouping since someone might want to split up this group within Spotify. Specially for guests it’s more convenient to use their Spotify app instead of having to download the Sonos app first.i am aware of that Echo devices report themselves over the cloud instead of the network but I don’t see there any problem why this shouldn’t also work for Sonos to report virtual speaker groups over the network.
Sonos speakers have been one of the best smart speakers in the market. But it is very frustrating to see most of the speakers from competitors support chromecast (even many very entry level ones) while Sonos does not. I understand there was a lawsuit going on with Google before but it seems to be resolved recently. I hope the engineering team can be allowed to add chromecast support quickly to bridge the gap. I don’t think it is much of a technical issue as you have all the hardware and the software support can’t be that difficult as you look at what competitors doing. You got to understand iOS only takes up a smaller portion of the smart phone market. Without chromecast you can basically pushing Android only users out of the door. I would love to switch to android camp but the Sonos situation has been my main deterrent. Please take a look at how many similar requests are there in the forum and consider seriously to add the feature quickly. Thanks! Your loyal Sonos fan
Can anyone recommend a music service/app that is available for use with both iPhone and Sonos to listen to old media files that I have?iTunes is good to a point but for some not all files load ok.Ive heard about using a WD NAS but does this play all the files you chose one after another (like a media player) and can it back up to OneDrive. Does a WD work with iPhonesd so you can listen while out and about?Any help is greatly appreciated
Why do you continue to use Fed Ex? I have yet to get a single fed ex delivery on time from them this year. My recent sonos purchase was supposed to be here before Christmas. It of course got delayed until December 28th. It showed that it was local and out for delivery on the 28th but then the status changed to “weather exception”, in spite of the fact that we had no weather issues and expected only light snow (less than an inch ) later that evening. I checked this morning and now there is no delivery date scheduled. It shows my package is pending and now its no longer local but in Missouri?! As long as Sonos continues to use Fed Ex for deliveries, I am no longer giving them my business. Continuing to use Fed Ex with all of their well documented problems is bad for business and shows a total lack of concern for customers needs. I am at the point of return my recent purchases and cancelling my latest order.
It is very distracting and annoying… I do not mind if they put something in the “Inbox” with the little Blue Dot beside it to let you know you have something to read but really.. this big crap on top of the app that you use to control you home music has to stop.
After 3 years of using my speaker with no issues, and with no change to my internet provider, wireless network, or position of the speaker, my system stopped working. I tried resetting about 4 to 5 times and, after having no success, finally phoned support. The agent was courteous and, I believe, used all options at her disposal, but after 1.5 hours on the phone and repeating reconnection/reset steps at least five times, the solution is for me to call my ISP and split my 5ghz network from the 2.4ghz. I read a bit about this and see that while doing this is possible, it can introduce problems with connectivity for everything else in my home. I have no desire to manage networks for my various devices, so the speaker has become useless to me. Just wanted to post in the event others have experienced this issue. I think the solution offered by Sonos is difficult and will not be buying a Sonos product again.
Sonos is promoting their corporate environmental credentials but, it appears I can't buy a Sonos product made in a state that has global leading environmental credentials, why?
