I’d love to see Sonos add mic on/off toggle in software and perhaps an admin pw protection to enable/disable the hardware (and software) control. This would allow the owner to set how it’s controlled and who controls it.

A software on/off toggle was rejected due to privacy issues. The idea was if you could do it via software, then it could be done by others via hack or remote access by the nefarious Sonos spies (they exist you know!). You can disable it altogether by removing any voice assistants.
+3What would they stand to gain by hacking the mic? I feel the benefit would outweigh the risk, especially with password protection.

You’d have to ask those who are hyper-vigilant about privacy issues. Sonos has a history of taking their concerns seriously.
