Sonos Radio does not work

I know that the Sonos does not want to give any support for Tunein therefore I’ve decided to try with SonosRadio, for which I hope Sonos IS RESPONSABLE of the development.

But the problem is always the same. I try to listen to italian Radio24 station, but when it tries to connect to the streem it says “welcome to tunein” 😶. after that silence and then the same loop “welcome to tunein”.


To find the radio go to “sonos radio” > explore radio > by place > Europe > Italy > Lombardia > Milano > Radio 24

The diagnostic nuber is: **********.

BTW, if I connect with Tunein app or the radio24 app, connected to the same wifi as my sonos beam, the streams work without any problem.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues listening to Sonos Radio on your Sonos system.

I had a look at the diagnostics you shared and I was able to see quite a few error messages while attempting to play Radio 24 via Sonos Radio.

I will list a few basic troubleshooting steps below for you to try:

  1. Complete a network refresh by rebooting all network devices involved (unplug power cable - wait a few minutes - plug it back in). Start with your router → Sonos → Controller (smartphone/tablet)
  2. Please have a look at our Support Article Reduce wireless interference.
  3. If possible, wire your Sonos Beam directly to your router with an Ethernet cable and test again.

If you are still unable to play via the Sonos Radio, please reach out to our Support team for some live troubleshooting.

They have tools at their disposal to provide you with advice and information, specific to your system and what it reports.

the problem are others.

  1. why if I use sonos radio i hear that tunein is involved? don’t you have a personal stream?
  2. if I use the direct url of the stream from the site (i let you search for yourself as I did :-P ) everything works like a charm.

therefore I’m quite sure that it is not a problem of my system. also because as I’ve told you before, if I use my phone connected to the same wifi as the beam, it has no problem at all to stream the radio.

Sonos Radio is a cooperation with TuneIn. There are stations we are curating ourselves, other stations still come from TuneIn. This is indicated in the station's logo, it also features a small TuneIn logo as shown in the screenshot below.

therefore I’m quite sure that it is not a problem of my system. also because as I’ve told you before, if I use my phone connected to the same wifi as the beam, it has no problem at all to stream the radio.

I have no issues playing Radio 24 via the Sonos Radio on my Sonos system. As I already mentioned, the error messages that pop out from the diagnostics you shared indicate connection issues with your Sonos Beam.

The fact that you can stream the radio station on your phone and not the Sonos Beam is also a strong indication that your Sonos Beam is having trouble maintaining the connection to the radio service.

Do other stations from Sonos Radio play on your Sonos Beam or is it the same experience as Radio 24?

Have you tried any of the basic troubleshooting steps I shared on my first reply? If not, please do so and if you are still experiencing the same issue, I suggest you contact our Support Team.

I’ve spent 1h with a useless chat with your CC. No solution. You always try to say it is a customer problem when it is your server side the problem :-(
