The very same thing happened to me only on an Apple today. Error 913.
Yesterday it would connect but now unable to add shared folder error 913. Unacceptable.
This is after the new update to the new update. I can’t justify spending another dime on Sonos.
The same thing is happening to me on MacOS 14.5. System has working perfectly and now I cannot add any folder without the 913 error.
Same thing happened to me today MacOS 14.4.1.
Same thing here! The main reason that I bought two Sono’s Speakers was to play my personal library. Now it’s gone and i can’t bring it back...913 error! It’s lost on my Android and windows laptop. The app will only play music services!
This just happened to me. The update forced itself onto my iphone and window laptop. My spouse still has the gold app on an iphone. We have no access to our local music library anymore, on any device. I get the error 913 when I try to add it back. How do I fix it?? Playing our local music files is the only reason we have the Sonos speakers. They are useless now.
Same here. Error 913 for Apple Music Library on Sonoma 14.4.1. If I try to add the folder directly, it says access denied and to check username/password. I can see it trying to access the folder and then giving up. I’m the administrator so there should be no access/username problems.
BTW, this may help others until Sonos can fix this mess they’ve created. I copied the entire Apple music library to my NAS and then used add “Networked device (ex. NAS drive)” and was able to add the music library folder without any problems. This is just a temp solution since the library won’t be updated if I add more music but at least it keeps me going for the time being.
Thank you so much Sunocoz!! I right-clicked my iTunes folder in windows explorer, went to properties, shared that folder with the Sonos system, then pretended the shared folder link is an NAS drive and tried adding it back to Sonos using the Networked device option like you suggested. It worked and the music library reappeared on all our devices, both versions of the iOS mobile app and on the desktop. Still can’t queue on the new app but at least we can play our library for now anyway. You are brilliant!
Me again(the guy earlier commenting)
. While I waited 2 plus hours I got Plex going but somehow that doesn't work now. They told me that it is in fact ***ked and they will be fixing it. I'm not even a Sonos person. I use Sonos (port) to fuel a Anthem Amp/Reciever with Paradigm Studio 20/Subs\ Subs\center to match system. I know that stuff is old (The Anthem is new) but I bought it because Jamisons Audio in Toledo Ohio, A High End Shop said it was the shit 12 years ago. ( I live in BG) When I spend money on Audio I expect it to work. Get an Anthem if you can.
P.S. I waited drank a six pack missed a workout so you don't have to. It is on the list of stuff they have to fix. I’m sorry.
One more thing Sonos. This is despicable. This new app. Iv’e been with you for at least a decade.
Same problem. Woke up this morning to realise the desktop app doesnt play my music library anymore. Then there was a desktop app update. Thought that might fix it, although I didnt expect much after the last few days. Turned out now the library has completely disappeared and I can’t add it back (error 913). The “Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” quote is slowly manifesting itself in my mind… what else is gonna happen with these new updates?!
Same here.
Is this monitored by Sonos? Or are we just complaining to each other, and Sonos is blissfully unaware that everyone now have Sonos speakers not able to make any sound. It’s deadly quiet here. Too quiet.
Next stop. Support...

Same experience here. Forced an update and the update broke access to my Music Library. This is unacceptable.
Same problems here. Complete failure after Sonos desktop app update in Windows 11. And any attempt to share a folder is met with a demand for a username and password.
SONOS needs to take a big decision, they are on the edge of losing a huge amount of customer. People will just move to a product that care. I’m down to sell all my 6 SONOS speakers to move with a business that care for their customer, and not for their ideals. I’ll give them a few months.
Since the new app was introduced, my iphone keeps asking for bluetooth to be switched on. I thought bluetooth was only needed when setting up a speaker? A wireless network connection should be enough to control the speakers in everyday use, without needing bluetooth on at the same time.
Im very upset the new app is just not working. I lost my music library so spoke to Sonos they said they were aware and to use the desktop version on my MacBook. OK so my music folder and files worked on the desktop. Today the music folder is not showing in the music library and every time I try to put the path back to it I get error 913. Popped s on here to see lots of people are having the same problem.
I don't do subscriptions to music services my music library is all I use, now that's gone !!!!!!!!!
Chatted with tech support. They play to fix this issue in mid June. This is beyond stupid.
This is beyond moronic. What sort of software developers do Sonos have? Seems to me like their developers don’t even use Sonos if they end up disconnecting one of the biggest methods of accessing and playing music. And it seems like a fix will be ready mid-June??? Absolute shame on you Sonos. Have any of you heard about quality control, proper testing. Does any of this sound familiar?
And by the sounds of things none of the senior management has the guts to come out and make any public statements about this absolute fiasco. What a bunch of spineless cowards.
Apparently, it took a lot of courage.
F**k you Sonos
I’ve fixed mine after talking to support, but this is not something for the average user. I hope there’s an easier way, as I found it a bit of a chore, and I work on computers all day. Here’s how I did it in windows 11..
- Make sure SMBv1 is disabled by doing the following:
- Launch the Control Panel by typing Control Panel in the Windows search box.
- Click Programs in the list and then select Turn Windows features on or off under Programs and Features.
- Ensure there is no checkmark in the box next to both SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and SMB 1.0/CIFS Server.
- If you had to disable it, it may require a reboot after you deselect, and hit OK. Mine fortunately wasn’t selected.
- Create a share on the folder that your music is in, and give a user permission to use it.
- I created a local user using instructions from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d But apparently you can use the user you’re logged in as (I couldn’t, it didn’t work for me).
- With a user ready, right click the folder containing music and select Properties
- Select the Sharing Tab
- Hit the Share button, and make sure the user you want to use is in the list with at least Read access, and hit the Share button.
- Back on the sharing tab, it will show the name of the share as \\<computer name>\Music (or whatever the share name is (mine was called TheLibrary)) Hit Apply.
- This share name is what you type in the sonos app when you are adding your music library.
- fin
What a nightmare.
Good instructions. The problem I had with sharing the link, is that it asks for a username and password, and if you click next, it gives an access denied error.

Thank you so much! It worked for me! Not that hard to do guys, try it out. Doing this + installing the previous version APK solved everything for me. But i’m still very nervous for Sonos future, i might get stuck one day being forced to upgrade to something i don’t like. Not trusting their development team one bit.

I got the same, i entered my main microsoft outlook email + password and it worked. You need to find what account email + password your windows is associate with.
I’m sure that forced obsolescence of our older speakers is just around the corner.
I’m sure it took “a lot of courage” as well.
