Let me rephrase that question…Is anyone having trouble when trying to Group “Everywhere”(i.e. some rooms will show in the group with decent volume applied but will not play). At times ramping the volume up in a room that isn’t playing will activate the room but only temporarily. Ungrouped, the room works perfectly. 

That was funny. 

Might try doing it a couple times and submit a diagnostic to capture the issue, then call support when you have time.

Hello:  I have had the same issue, and have sent dozens of diagnostics and have and 87 emails in a thread back and forth with Level 3. Last week, on the phone with an engineer, the solution is to connect my Beam gen 2 to Ethernet. Now, before I add any rooms, I must unselect rooms from the last session and select the Beam, then add any rooms I want, and deselect the Beam if I don’t want music in the living room.  The Beam needs to be the lead. He said a new router may not help and not to buy one, and stay with this. 

To accomplish this, I needed to take my tv down as the Beam is attached to a close-mount Sanus, feed the Ethernet cord from the router through the wall cavity, and back down to the Beam for a clean look.  Then, remount the tv.  So much for effortless listening. 

My set up includes the Beam, Submini (which is also now connected with Ethernet), 6 One SLs, and one Roam.

The engineer said it is a network issue. He was very  kind and patient. My dissatisfaction is in that I never had this issue before the new app. It took months to get to this solution as my first contacts were in May.  Also, the website still says “Everything works seamlessly over WiFi,” and “Sonos products connect easily and wirelessly,” and “All Sonos products can connect to wireless routers…”  

My case I outlined above shows this is false advertising. 
 

To answer your question, you may need to do what I had to do to get speakers working “Everywhere.

One more thing I just remembered. The status page of my speaker furthest away from the router shows strong connection, so that was never the issue with my router, and it is the same router and ISP service before the app update and after the app update. 

The new Sonos app needs a very good connection from speaker to speaker and a very good connection to the internet because it routes much more commands via the internet. Because of this unfortunate design choice, there is a whole set of new hurdles your set up needs to jump over to get everything right. Some set ups have not gotten this right since May 2024.

Sorry to hear of the problem you’ve had with grouping your speakers to play together.

If the speakers are running different versions of their software, they will not group - please check for system updates to ensure they are all running the same software: Settings icon » Manage » System Updates » Check for Updates.

It may also help to choose the speaker with the likely best WiFi connection to be the speaker in charge of a group (selected first).

If the issue persists, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

So many devices share the wifi channels, and more, some even without radios infringe on them making sorting out issues without high cost test gear is difficult.

More frustrating for many are the wifi analyzer apps that ignore all but perfectly formed wifi signals, often recommending nearly worthless channels as a result.

My most reliable tool for Sonos and wifi is a One on a 50 foot extension cord making it easy to  check multiple locations without waiting for bootups.
