I have just subscribed Amazon Music Unlimited and tried playing some UltraHD music on my system. The newer Sonos Amp played them just fine and there was the UltraHD badge. But my Connect:Amp only played the same album at HD. If I tried grouping the Amp and the Connect:Amp, then the badge changed from UltraHD to HD.However, according to this link, the Connect:Amp gen 2 does support UltraHD playback. I think my Connect:Amp is gen 2 because it runs the S2 app, and the manufacture date at its bottom is 1608.Any explanation or clarification is much appreciated.
HiLooking for some guidance. I have just expanded my Sonos System and have 6 Sonos one’s, two first generation and 4 Second generation in rooms around the house and they work great. I have a Stereo pair in the lounge and rest doted around the house. I use airplay and since yesterday the new addition with I added yesterday comes and goes in airplay list of speakers. The speaker works fine with Sonos app with I use, I like the grouping in gives me. But airplay in the main fails to show the new addition. Just wondering if it down to airplay or something else. Thank you.
It might be nice to have a warning if the line in input clips on the app. Maybe not the most common use case but if you switch input sources it will help pick the right line in level.
I love to listen to KSHE 95 Real Rock Radio out of St. Louis. I can get the station through the Tune In music service on Sonos. The problem is that KSHE 95 has an awesome 24 hour show called KSHE Klassics that is only available through their website at KSHE.com. I’d love to play this programming on my home Sonos system but can’t find a way to access it. Does Sonos have a music service link that allows you to access different sites on the web?
I have 2 TVs side-by-side in my media room. Currently they are both connected to an AV receiver on separate inputs. When I want to change which TV is feeding sound into the room’s speakers, I have a single button on my remote which simply selects the next favorited receiver input, which effectively toggles between the 2 sources. (Note: this is useful when one TV goes to commercial so I want to temporarily hear the audio from the other TV) I am thinking about upgrading to a full Sonos setup for the room’s audio and would like some advice for how to best achieve the same convenient audio source toggling. I understand that I’ll be able to use the app to select any source to play in any room. But is there a way to achieve a toggle like effect with a remote or smart home device? If I have to use the app, how fast or easy will the transition be? Here is my current thinking for the hardware setup.TV #1 connected to an Arc soundbar via HDMI-arc. The ARC will be joined to a sub (gen3) and
Well as a new user my experience of Sonos is spending time on this forum whenever I want to listen to a new podcast/ music service... And more often than not we end up listening on my mobile device and the Sonos move stays silent. What a waste of money and time... I just don't get the hype with Sonos. To me it's just another plateforme strategy to lock up customer. We bought you're ***** device at a hefty price, just let people free of using whatever app they want.Sonos feels líke such a con company.I will never buy it again or recommand it. I’m a little disappointed that Apple Music is somewhat neutered when used though the Sonos app (no ability to start a station directly from a song like there is in the Apple Music app for example). However, when searching Apple Music through the Sonos S2 app I noticed typing in an artist’s name and clicking on the “Stations” tab brings up lots of stations based on different songs from that artist. Same thing when searching for a single song title, there are literally dozens of “stations” based on that song in that list. Which is nice. But where are these stations coming from exactly? They don’t appear to be anywhere in Apple Music that I can see. Is the Sonos app generating them?
I found that when the album art embedded in an mp3 or flac file is too large (for example 1080x1080), then the SONOS S2 app crashes when trying to load and display it. I tried reducing the album art (to 200x200) and it solved the problem. This issue affects the S2 app on both Windows 10 and Windows 7.This may explain some of the app crashes reported by S2 users.
Morning,I have a playbar and was thinking of upgrading to the Arc. That got me thinking about what I should do with the Playbar. I could trade it in or sell it but wouldn’t it be good if SONOS was able to provide a software update to enable it as a rear speaker? I already have 2 surround play 1’s but because of the set up in my room I’m not able to get them behind me. If I could mount the playbar on the wall behind me I would have real surround sound. I guess if I had this option I may upgrade sooner or maybe this is already an option that I’ve missed?
We love our sonos system but my wife is not app friendly. Are there any physical controllers that can connect to the speakers?
I have the old Sonos and am upgrading. Probably going with immersive Arc, some Play 5's, a Move, etcc.. Looking to play music throughout house and also play sound through our LG Smart TV in the main living room. I may also use a Beam for another TV> My question: Is it relatively easy to switch back and forth between Sonos playing the TV and playing music?

Looking to play music throughout house and also play sound through our LG Smart TV in the main living room. I may also use a Beam for another TV> My question is will this all work and how do I use all the music that I have on mp3 files on my ccomputer? It seems they ddon't use a bridge anymore. Do I need to have a streaming service that allows me to upload from my computer? What streaming service do you all recommend? We have Iheart, but it doesn't allow uploads I believe. Thanks a ton in advance!!!
I was wondering if I could receive some assistance with trying to make sure that the Explicit filter is enabled when streaming music from the Amazon Music app. I can 'cast' the music from my phone in the Amazon Music app to the Sonos speakers directly. I have explicit filtering enabled both in the Amazon Music app and in the Sonos app. However, whenever I cast, I see a message in the Amazon app that says 'Block Explicit Songs is Unavailable while you are connected to the Sonos Speakers'. However, explicit content is still played.Any thoughts? We have young children and I'm often casting music from my phone. I really need this feature to work.*As a side note, we have an Echo Dot controlling the two Sonos speakers (One SLs). When using voice commands to play music, Explicit filtering works as intended. It only appears to be an issue when casting from the Amazon Music app. Thanks!
I have 5 Sonos speakers. When I play music from the Sonos app, I can control which speakers the sound is sent to. When I try and play music through Airplay, if I select one speaker, it plays to multiple speakers. Is there a way to fix this?
I do have a way that works great so far:Extract cover art (.jpg) from music file, import in any paint program, save as .tiff, load .tiff and save again as .jpg.Had something to do with Density Unit IIRC, forgot what exactly. But why is this work around needed? I need to do that for at least the last year, regardless if I buy old or new songs. I don’t think this is a Sonos issue, as I need to do the same for my Sony (digital) Walkman.Anyone has a solution or suggestion?
I converted a vinyl album to an MP3 file and added it to my music library on my MacBook Pro. It plays on my MacBook, but when I try to play it on Sonos it won't play. I have updated my music library, and the album appears in Sonos, but won't play. When I try to play it I get a short blip (like the scratch at the beginning of putting a need on the vinyl) and then an error message. What should I do?
Preliminary notes: These instructions have been tested with a Mac mini with macOS version Monterey, an Apple Music library of 25k tracks, a Synology NAS with DSM 7.0.1 and a Sonos Controller for Mac Version 13.4.1. Before starting the process make sure you have access to the NAS drive with sufficient access rights granted to the account (e.g. read/write to the music shared folder). To mitigate security issues for the music folders on the NAS you can create an account for the Sonos Controller with read access only. Feel free to follow these steps at your own risk.Step 1: setup the Apple Music Library on the NASWhen you open Apple Music with the Option key on the keyboard pressed you can choose to create a new Library. Create a new Folder on the Synology NAS, under the music shared folder, to create the Apple Music Library (e.g. MyMusic). Check in the Preferences the Files tab for Music Media location so that the directory path points to the NAS. Keep the Music Media folder organised and
I recently got a new place and would like to set up with Sonos eco system. I want to make sure if I get the followingLiving room (TV) - ARC, Sub Gen 3, One (total 4 - 2 front and 2 back)Bedroom (TV) - Beam, One (2 total) Office (Computer) - One (two total) 3 other bedrooms(future) additional OnesWill I be able to control them individually by room with two TVs and office computer playing at the same time? Can multiple users take care playing music by the room? Just like first question but via Spotify and not TV Do I need anything else to make sure I can do all the above items but need additional Sonos devices possibly? And I am assuming it is possible to play by one user with all sonos devices.
Whenever Sonos updates my personnal library from the Music app on my iMac, Sonos creates a iTunes folder with a «iTunes Music Library.xml» file. What it is useful to ?
Is there any news on Sonos getting an intercom function, to communicate speaker to speaker? I am torn between buying studio echo vs another S1....
My ‘Sonos 1’ app has stopped accessing my Synology DiskStation music folder after the recent DSM 7.0 update. It seems many others have had the same problems and one way around this is to enable NTLMv1 authentication in: ‘Files Services - SMB - Advanced Settings - Others’ on my Synology NAS. The only problem with doing that is that it increases significantly the risk of external attacks! Can someone please tell me how I can avoid this critical issue, or if there will be a fix in the near future from Sonos on the Sonos1 app? I cannot use the Sonos 2 app because I have several units in the house which are not compatible. Thanks in advance
I have a fair number of Sonos speakers throughout my house which can be thought of in 4 zones: upstairs, downstairs, garage, and patio. There is rarely, if ever, a case when I want all speakers on at the same time, so I would like to disable the ‘Everywhere’ default speaker group and only use my own. Is that possible?
Several months back there was an announcement that Arc would be able to play Atmos Music streamed from Amazon and maybe Apple? Latest 13.3.3 firmware update still doesn't provide this capability as far as I can tell. Anyone seen or heard anything new on this subject?
I listen to BBC Radio 4 every morning on my Sonos system. It's my alarm clock. This morning there is a short audio insert just before each hour telling me that the service will be stopping on March 22nd 2021 and that I should contact my service provider to ask them how I can continue to access the BBC content.I'm not in the UK, so the TuneIn service is still available (until now). What are the options for me to still receive my daily dose of British content over my Sonos system?iPhone related options are not applicable in this house.
As a record and turntable enthusiast, it would be nice to have the Sonos app detect a record is playing and automatically populate the app with the track listing and times. I know, I know, I can walk over and read the record, but we’re talking cool internetty tricks, right? This would be one of those. Thanks, Joe
