Controllers and Music services

I've been using Sonos with an old MacBook Pro with reasonable success for the last 4 years or so. Suddenly the Sonos player on the Mac can't run unless I update it. I can't update it unless I update the Mac's operating system. I can't update the operating system on this particular MacBook Pro because it's too old. Why can't I simply run the previous version of Sonos? I'm not going to buy a new Mac just so my 2 Sonos speakers can work. That's insane. Any thoughts?

Halfway through my trueplay tuning while walking around the room, the app stops and reports a “lost speaker.” I can’t finish the tuning repeatedly. My sub and playbase are both functioning. Any ideas? I’m on iPhone X and iOS 11.4. Thanks

Why does SONOS force me to do updates? Nearly EVERY update I do fails and I spend about 1 hour then, re-booting, routers, Wi-Fi, my 11 Sonos components. It's a lie that this takes 2-3 minutes. It may do when it works with 1-2 components but not with more (shall we say) fully invested customers. I tried this morning, and it failed. I do NOT need to do this update - I do not want, and will not buy a Beam, so please leave me alone please to enjoy Sonos. SONOS's arrogant update policies are driving me away from Sonos. Even Apple doesn't force people to update. I cannot control Sonos currently from my devices (only the Computer). Stop it. I am the customer, and I bought a working product. It's not working now on my devices due to SONO's stupid and arrogant policy. I used to love Sonos, and, when it works it's great, BUT, I would only recommend Sonos now to anyone who is prepared to be forced to update software AND to suffer the consequences of failures if there is an upgrad

I have a Galaxy s10 Plus that cannot connect to an existing Sonos system. I can only control Sonos thru a hardwired desktop PC. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app., it just cannot find the system. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I have been a beta tester for MacOS 10.15 (Catalaina). I didn't ever notice that it did not run with Sonos. When will you have a compatible version of the Mac app??

hi all, is it possible to implement some sort of "parent controls" where speakers can be restricted from being used? so examples are: if someone pushes play everywhere and that turns on a speaker in a room where someone is trying to sleep. so maybe some time limits scheduled so that speaker can't be used during night time etc kids have their own speaker in their room, but only have rights to control that speaker not the whole house. parents have control over the whole system. disabling play everywhere so other people's music cannot be overridden by someone pushing play everywhere. locking speakers to a controller. someone is listening to music in a room and only their phone or computer can change the music in that room. i think there are plenty of uses for setting rights and permissions over sonos speakers and controllers but i can't seem to find any implementation in the sonos app. am i looking in the

Hi there, I recently got a Sonos Play. However, I was really disappointed to see that the app is very slow and takes a while to stream my spotify songs. How do I overcome this?

I have thre differnt AndroidTV devices two complettly stock version and one from China that is rooted. On the two std ones the Sonos App is not available in the Google Playstore, the store claim the devices isn´t compatible, but the Rooted Chinese one works. Could you please open up for Android TV in you appregistration.

I have 2 Sonos One's and a Beam in my Bedroom. While I have it in Surround Sound mode for watching TV in the Bedroom, we also listen to Audiobooks at night and while I prefer it louder, wifey prefers it more quiet, so the best option we figured out was to play it only on the Sonos One on my Side and we're all happy. So every night, I have to break up my surround speakers, and then play the sound on the one speaker next to me, and then the next day put them back together. Basicly, allow us to either have multiple scenes, or let us import a speaker multiple times or give us a solution to play something only on the selected speakers. Best Regards Menaxerius

Lock screen controls disappeared a month ago and I don't have any Apple products. I asked Sonos about this and they did a diagnostic but still the lockscreen controls don't appear. Is this a permanent change? If so, why didn't Sonos just tell me that instead of treating it as a problem that should not occur?

Previous Sonos app has the option to reset Sonos controller. I used this feature to reconnect my Sonos speakers. I can not find this feature on the new Sonos app 10.4. To reconnect my Sonos, the new Sonos app asks me to go to the missing speakers to touch the setup button. The problem is I have more than 20 Sonos speakers missing. If Sonos removed the Reset Sonos Controller feature, they need to bring it back

Why have you made the alarm so hard to find? I use this daily, it should be back as a top level menu for convenience.

Is it me? I now cannot access any podcasts or music from my phone? Most podcasts I listen to are on BBC Sounds which cannot be streamed through the Sonos app. It would appear my speakers are not compatible with Apple Play 2 as they are not appearing over airplay. Can anyone help? or do I have to do what seems inevitable these days...and just throw it all away and go back to vinyl?😬 in despair.

I use the Sonos-alarm on a daily basis, but the time varies from day to day. Therefore, before I go to bed I check that the alarm is set and set at the correct time. Since the September 10, 2019 Release, this has become an annoying task as the alarm was moved on the Android App. Now I have to click through "Settings -> System -> Alarm". I do not consider the alarm a system setting, but maybe that is just me. Complaining is easy, so what could be a potential solution? From my point of view it would be nice to have the alarm setting directly linked from the "My Sonos" part of the app (bottom left). As we can edit this page, it could be hidden for everyone by default and if you need it, you add it through the edit of the My Sonos (top right). This has ALWAYS worked. in the last few days (since this weekend) this section just shows LOADING I have left the app open at My Sonos for up to 10 -15 minutes and it never shows the most recently played stations or shows. Fairly new to the Sonos setup, however the following doesn't seem to be possible - am I missing something? Using latest iOS app Browse > Asset UPnP Album > [A-Z] Select Album ??? You can see all the tracks listed as you might expect, however it seems you can only pick one at a time. The three dots next to the album only offer you the ability to "add album to my sonos" I just want to the able to play the album from here (select all tracks and add to queue)... which seems quite basic functionality. Interestingly, if you try from say the Mac controller, you can just select all tracks and add to queue. Given this works, this seems like it is limited to the iOS controller.

I have a sonos connect hooked up to a multi zone AVR that powers numerous sets of speakers around the outside of my house. Some of the more distant listening areas are past the range of my WiFi despite my efforts to boost its coverage. For other reasons, I have my home router set up with a VPN server that allows me to remotely connect to my home network as if I am in the house. When logged into this vpn, I have control and use of all my networked devices just like I would if I was directly connected to my home network. Except Sonos. It just hangs at the ‘you need to be connected to a wireless network’ screen. Is there a workaround for this?? Obviously this would solve my WiFi range issue when needed. My preferred controller is an iPhone 7 and all my numerous Sonos devices are hard wired if it matters.

The recent Android 10.0 update seems to have broken the app. There are no rooms listed and the Now Playing screen doesn't show what is playing on the system. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but no joy.

Trying to help a friend with her speaker. She has a Windows 7 laptop, she's been using the sono speaker with no issues until recently. Can you use the device without having a smart phone or tablet?

I know I'm not the first person to ask for 5GHz support on Sonos speakers, but I hope this time we can engage in a constructive discussion. I also hope for Sonos employees to get involved. What feature am I asking for? The possibility to connect 5GHz compatible Sonos Speakers directly to 5GHz wi-fi. Before anyone rushes to come up with any reason why this is not Sonos' strategy, let me tell you a few things. I'm a network engineer, specialized in wi-fi. I live in a crowded area in the centre of a reasonably big city. My 50 sq m apartment only has 2 rooms. The spectrum is crowded with wi-fi networks, certainly in 2.4GHz but also 5GHz has a few channels that should probably be avoided. Therefore I only use 5GHz wi-fi for my main devices and even have 2 accesspoints. There is a 2.4GHz network present for devices like printers etc. Let's jus

Yesterday Sonos removed “from this device” function from my apple iPhone. From their previous communications I knew this was coming but hoped that they would leave it as an option, even as a somewhat flawed option. I am aware of the workaround fixes, they do not fit my needs. I have a NAS, my library there contains thousands of additional music files that are not on my phone. I do not wish to hear most of them on a regular rotation nor do I wish to search thought them everytime I would like to hear a particular song or artist. Additionally, the “from this device” was great for the Speakers in my children’s rooms as there is material on my NAS library that is not suitable for them, but they could play freely from their devices, on which I manage the content. There will be people who respond that say this is just one minor feature, but the number of threads on this topic indicate that the use of this feature is widespread throughout the customer base.
