LED: Flashing green in the cycle 3 seconds on, 1 second off

I have a Sonos One, and after multiple failed setups, I got it connected to right wireless network. It’s the only device in the Sonos system itself. After updating the wifi network, naturally I had to reconfigure the speaker. However, it would not connect back to the network. I then tried factory resetting it but once I did this it, it went through the standard alternating white and orange state and then when it should turn flashing green, it goes in to the slow green sequence stated at the top of the post. It goes through this process every time it’s factory reset and in this state it doesn’t appear as a new device to set up in the app nor in the troubleshooting process to reconnect devices.

I’ve tried reconnecting it using a wired connection but that didn’t work.

I’ve had a look at the support article on the meanings behind LED statuses but none of them match what I’m seeing.

Normally a slow flashing green LED appears on home theater surrounds that have been disabled using the Sonos app, but if you’ve factory reset the speaker and it initially flashed amber and then green, then it would appear it’s looking to be setup using a compatible mobile Sonos controller App. If it’s not being detected during the setup process I would first check your system meets the system requirements in these links below:

Also perhaps check your router has QoS and Airtime Fairness disabled in its configuration pages and maybe check the 2.4Ghz WiFi is 802.11b/g/n compatible with (perhaps) a security mode of WPA2-AES. I would also try the setup with a different Ethernet cable, just in case.

If still no luck, then maybe contact/chat to Sonos Support Staff about the matter via this LINK and see what they can suggest to help resolve the matter.

So, to be clear:

  • the P:1 is the only Sonos device
  • you factory reset it
  • you tried wiring it

Have you reset the controller?

What network components do you have, e.g. router, WiFi?

If this is your only Sonos device and you have factory reset it then you no longer have a Sonos system and need to choose to set up a new system. Is that what you have been trying to do?

Hi Ken,

Appreciate the help. I’ve checked and the system does meet the requirements. As for the router configuration, I’ll try checking the settings you mentioned but I have tried to set the speaker up over ethernet so I’m doubtful it’s an issue with the wireless connection.

If it is your one and only speaker, assuming that there isn’t a fault, I would try wiring it to the router, just temporarily and as others have mentioned, resetting your S2 Sonos App (gold icon, not the black icon S1 App) and give things another try when the speaker is powered on and it’s LED is flashing green and choose to create a new system, when prompted during the App setup and simply follow the onscreen instructions.. you can go onto switch things to use the local WiFi later by following the advice given in this link:
