Hi,My son’s bedroom has ceiling speakers which are wired back to an amplifier in the living room. We currently have a Sonos Connect connected to the amplifier which he uses to stream music to listen via his ceiling speakers. He is now keen to get a turntable, and I’m thinking the best thing to do would be to get a 2nd Sonos Connect, wire that up to the turntable in his bedroom and group it with the Connect in the living room so that the audio comes out of the speakers in his ceiling.Would that work? Would it matter that the Connect in his bedroom would have an input (the turntable) but no output? I guess the other option would be to get him a 2nd hand Play 5, but it seems a shame not to make use of his ceiling speakers. Thanks

Picked up an Amp for home theater use and have been really impressed with the phantom center. Really liking the full sound of large speakers and a powered sub better than the Arc in my living room. I know that current A/V receivers with Atmos support also offer Atmos Height Virtualization, which seems like it would be a perfect fit for the Amp home theater use case. Any idea if that feature would be possible with gen 3 hardware and/or has been discussed as on the table for a future update?

Hi,Looking to use the 12v trigger on my new Sonos Port to turn on my receiver when I start playing music through the port. I do not have an input on my Pioneer Receiver to connect to the port. What happens to components that are “upgraded”? I notice people are selling them 2nd hand, but is it even possible to connect an upgraded component to a S1-system? I thought they would be rendered useless, as CR100 a few years ago.Or will they work on every other system but mine since I made the upgrade?Or will they still work, even on my own system if S1?There was a long text if I clicked “upgraded” but nothing on this as far as I could tell so I clicked cancel again.

Hi there,I’ve read many of the posts on using Port for connecting turntables and older systems, but I’m still not 100% on the right solution.I’m basically looking to add a couple Sonos Ones and a Beam to my TV/Turntable/Apple TV/Nintendo to Receiver set up. I want the option to have everything that’s currently connected to my receiver play through my wired speakers/Subwoofer as well as the new Ones and Beam.  - Do I need to run the turntable into the Port, wouldn’t it make sense to keep the turntable connected to my receiver and somehow line-out everything in the receiver to the Port? -  I’d still switch the receivers source input depending on what device I want to use (turntable, apple tv, nintendo) correct? - And just to mention, I’m currently using an older Sony Str-dh540 (image below) but planning to upgrade that eventually. Is there anything I should be considering when searching for a new receiver for a situation like this? I thought Sonos AMP might be an option, but my TV only h

I’m on the verge of forking out some cash for premium wired over-ears. Currently driving a pair of Wharfedale EVO 4.1 with my Sonos Amp and wondering how to use the Amp as source for my headphones to play. I understand the Amp does not have a headphone jack? Do I need to buy a headphone amplifier the will connect to the Amp and then send signal to the headphones?If the above is possible, and I connect the headphone amp to the Sonos Amp and then to the headphones, should I stream or play anything through the Amp, won’t the sound playback go to both the Wharfedale speakers AND the headphones? How could I have speakers AND headphones connected to Amp and decide which will be playing?Thank you all.

I would like to get a in wall subwoofer possibly from sonos if they have one i want to connected  to the amp. I currently using one amp for two passive in ceiling speakers. I would like to know if sonos have an in wall subwoofer or bass, and if t you guys dont what would you recommend, when it comes to size and power. I

I am doing an outdoor sound upgrade and running four Sonos amps to 8 Klipsch AW-650 speakers to create 4 zones.  One question - The Sonos Amp is rated at 125w but my speakers (8ohm) are rated for 85w RMS and 340 Peak.   Should I be using Volume Control to protect the speakers? Or is the power close enough to not be a big deal?  Any idea what Volume Control % to use?  Thanks!

I see a few questions about whether the sonos outdoor speaker is better than the Sonance Mariner series. I had the same questions as the speakers look pretty much identical.  I called Sonance technical support about this. I was told the sonos product is a “lower end” product. The woofer, for example, uses lower quality items than the Sonance equivalent (I can’t remember exactly what was said, but the construction of the woofer uses a lower quality material, among other technical differences).  I ended up going with the mariner 86 as it was pretty close to the same money for a much higher end speaker (albeit a bit bigger).   

Hi Sonos friends. I am considering connecting a Sonos connect gen2 or port to my Control4 ea-3 to stream music from my Control4 tidal to my Sonos arc. this way I add an extra room to my Control4 ecosystem. Has anyone seen this done before and am I right in assuming that I can stream (no hard connection ) from the connect or port to the arc?

Hi everyone I am about to finish setting up my home theater room and I’m only missing the placement of my One SLs, I bought two wall mounts for them and I was wondering which space would be the most fitting for them, I have a very tiny room, about 110 sq ft, ceiling is about 10-11 feet high. (Surrounds for a Sonos Beam Gen 2)

My current layout is I have a Sonos Amp with 4 in wall speakers 1 left front, 1 left rear, 1 right front, 1 right rear.  The left front and rear are on the left channel and the right front and rear are on the right channel.  The amp is connected to my TV via HDMI ARC and the tv controls the volume of the Amp.  My question is if I purchase a Sonos Beam Gen 2, is it possible to connect the Beam to the Amp to “act” as a center channel?  The tv currently controls the volume on the Amp, I would like the Amp and Beam to both work with the volume control of the tv.  Is this possible?  If so how would I connect this all together?  My TV does not have two HDMI ARC outputs it also has an optical out but I do not believe this works if the output is already designated to the HDMI ARC.  I don’t need the Amp to power the Beam, I would just like it to act as a center channel.  

hi there. For my husband’s 50th I want to buy him a turntable to connect to our current Sonos system.  I don’t want to spend so much money so thinking of buying a non-Sonos turntable.But when I’ve read the Sonos blogs, if we have a turntable then it says we need a Play5 Speaker - does anyone know if this is correct? We only have a Play 3 speaker, a Beam, 3 Play 1’s and a Roam.  

I have a mix of new and old devices currently all running on single S1 system.Now I find that if I want to add a new device such as the FIVE I can’t.I have a Play:5 (Gen 1) that lowers the volume without me doing it. Randomly does this and I can not solve the issue.So I thought just buy a new FIVE to replace it but if I stay on S1 I will be prevented from adding the new FIVE to my system.But if I change to S2 so I can add the FIVE then 9 of my original devices will stop working on the same system which basically kills my entire system. (I first got SONOS with the CR100 controller, that is how old it is. They killed those off ages ago.)So it seems this policy PROHIBITS me adding or replacing devices to my system and effectively STOPS me buying anymore of their products.What a great business model, piss off your early adopters.

Hi new to the communityi have a Russ sound amplifier system with 6 zones in house. I use older white Sonos Connect device to pipe music to each zone. Can I use the new Sonos Connect Amp to the Russ Sound system to get that additional wattage and better quality or just go with new Sonos Connect.  Thanks 

I have a Bridge hard wired into my router, and a Connect Amp connected to an existing AV Receiver. Over the last 2 months, the Connect Amp has dropped off my system completely and had to be added as a new product whenever I want to listen to any music.I’ve resorted to completely resetting the system, and it worked for 24 hours!! I’ve turned everything network based off, rebooted my router, turned added the Bridge, waited 10 minutes, added the Connect Amp, waited 10 minutes then added other WIFI items individually - and it worked for another 24 hours.Before I put everything in the bin is there anything else that can be done to get the system working - it was working fine until the last update was released and support no longer provided.

I have an Amp hooked up to our living room TV in our house. (I also have a home theater setup using Sonos in our barn/guest house with the big screen TV.) I’m really fed up with the Amp, after any blackout or power flicker, losing all settings. I’ve been using regular stereo audio input pulled from an HDMI switcher to feed the Amp. Whenever we get a power flicker, my Sonos devices lose their groupings and settings. (Which, really, is pretty sad considering that pretty much any device, in 2021, can save such settings in non-volatile RAM - except the high priced Sonos!)Every time we start up the TV and there’s been a power flicker (which we often don’t know has happened), we get silence. So, instead of using my IR all-in-one remote, I have to pull out my phone and run the Sonos controller and change the Amp input BACK to “Line In,” where I always leave it. Hello - I am connecting the Sonos Connect to my Bang & Olufsen Beosound 9000 so I can stream music wirelessly from my iPhone.  I used the 7-pin RCA cable but the sound is barely noticeable when I use the Aux function on the B&O system.  I tried to raise the sound to the max on my iphone and on the B&O system.  Does anyone knopw how to fix the issue?  thanks for your help.

Would like to ask if any suggestion on where to get a 90 Degree Up Angle Fiber Optic 2.1 HDMI Cable for new generation Beam as the maximum space allowed for the plug is only around 2 cm if flush mounted onto the wall. 

I am a new Sonos user. I have 4 B&W in-ceiling speakers and a Sonos amp. Am I able to add the Sonos sub without adding another amp?  Thanks in advance!

I’ve got an iMac with an external Mac CD-ROM Superdrive attached. Works fine for playing CDs that I don’t want to rip onto my hard drive, for various reasons including that I like listening to redbook audio rather than compressed and don’t want to use a crazy amount of storage to rip lossless lots of cds I listen to infrequently. I work in the music industry, so get a lot of music that’s just an occasional listen. My external Superdrive CD-ROM works fine playing through my computer speakers. When I try to choose my Sonos Port as an output, all the controls in the Apple Music player stop working (play, skip, etc.). Sonos has confirmed that this isn’t supported and I have to rip any music I want to listen to. Anyone aware of a hack to get around needing to rip all of my music? Happy to experiment with devices, cords, etc. that’ll make this work for my needs. Thanks!
