Can't add Spotify tracks to Sonos playlist

Forum|alt.badge.img+4

To troubleshoot a different issue, I removed and re-added all tracks to an existing Sonos playlist (using the Windows controller, as this option has STILL not been restored to the Android app!). At least, that was the plan. Re-adding from my local library worked fine, but I could not add the single song from Spotify that was previously in this playlist.

Is this a new infuriating limitation? Or might there be a solution?

Same problem here, I cannot add spotify songs to the queue using the Mac controller. I get a message “Unable to add songs to the Queue”

I also cannot add youtube music to the queue, I get a message “the song is not encoded correctly”

And to top it off, I also cannot add spotify uri through the Sonos API

```SonosError: Sonos error on AddURIToQueue UPnPError 800 (Command not supported or not a coordinator)```
So it's not even limited to adding to playlists, the queue is also affected! Thanks, @iSenne, for adding that.
Exactly the same issue since I updated the windows controller on the 11th December. Worth noting that everything worked perfecty fine five minutes before the update.
When trying to add music tracks from spotify to the queue, I get one of three random error messages;
An Error occurred whilst adding tracks to the queue, (701), Unable to add music to queue. The web app works fine, as does using the spotify app to play the music through to SONOS. This looks to be an issue solely with the windows controller.
I’ve reset the router, removed and re-added the spotify app, reset the controller, re-added the speakers and nothing works. Just in time for Christmas. Great.
@eternal_cynic OP here. My issue is about adding external-source tracks to Sonos playlists. Do you experience that problem as well? Otherwise, your issue may be similar, but not the same.
Yes, that includes external tracks, sorry! I can play the radio now through it, that’s it.
No, I mean: you're posting about adding tracks to the queue, my issue is with adding tracks to Sonos playlists.
Sorry! Ignore me then! I’ve not tried playlists but the whole controller is borked. I’ll start another thread, hope your issue gets resolved!
The controller has six months of borkedness behind it, we are in full agreement there 😂
I have lost the ability to add any tracks or playlists from my Spotify account through the Windows desktop app. This started happening right after I was show the UPDATE option today (Dec 12). As a test, I tried playing something from YouTube Music and that worked. If I used my cell phone and went to the Sonos app there, I can play tracks from Spotify through the Spotify app interface. If I go into my Spotify app, I can also play tracks from Spotify to my Sonos speakers.
In the end, this is only failing specifically using the Sonos Windows Desktop app trying to play something from Spotify. It seems everywhere else, it is fine. Just my two-cents to this issue.
@toram23901, OP here. Are you talking about adding to the play queue, or to playlists? The original topic here is about adding to playlists, which increasingly seems to be something different from what you and other responders describe.
@florismk … Adding anything to the play queue….whether it is an individual song, a playlist, or even a whole album. Nothing adds to queue.
@toram23901 So you're talking about adding to the queue. Topic is about adding to Sonos playlists. Different issue, with different symptoms.
Adding to Sonos playlists from the app hasn't worked at all since the new app release (documented and acknowledged by Sonos), but does work from the Windows controller. Except Spotify tracks, which is what this topic is about.
Your issue is adding to the queue. which does work from the app but not from the Windows controller. Different use case, different issue, opposite symptoms.
I recommend you start a new topic for that.
Same problem here? No solutions found yet?
My Windows controller had not taken the update, but my speakers updated yesterday, so I tried a few things with that, then I updated the Windows controller and tried them again. Everything worked for me in both cases.
Now on 82.2-59204 on everything.
I took a Spotify track and tried:
  • Add to end of queue
  • Add to Sonos playlist
  • Add to Spotify playlist
Everything worked.
Will try that ASAP, @controlav ! Would be great if an update is all that's needed.
That’s not what I am saying. I am saying this works for me on the old app and on the updated app.
I stand corrected, thanks.
@RobinLakeman This topic is about adding to Sonos playlists, not about adding to the queue. I recommend you start your own topic for your issue.
It’s “funny” as wifie has been able to to add Spotify tracks to Sonos playlists from her Mac, but not ipad or iphone to great noise… I took to my PC just to see, and after an update (been forever since i used the Sonos app there) it happily allows me to add Sonos tracks to Sonos playlists! My iPhone still is not showing the “add ti sonos playlist”…
Rather annoying to have to get the laptops out to add some music to the playlist we share in Sonos…
On the iPhone 15 I was able to add a track to a Sonos playlist using Play Next.  Of course that does me no good since I can’t Save the Queue as a playlist.
Huh. It seems that the problem went away of its own accord. Still no way to add tracks to playlists in the app, but the Windows controller now allows me to add Spotify tracks to Sonos Playlists again.
Thanks for all your reactions, problem solved!
@florismk! Glad you are happy! I wish it was gone, but I use the phone so much more than the laptop, it is merely a workaround! I expect much more similar if not same functionality between client platforms. But it seems to be entirely different teams developing in their own direction! It has bothered me to the point of looking at alternatives, I’m just too tightwad and deep in Sonos to toss my investment away…
I know, @Lakritstroll, the larger problem is that the new app is so awful and feature-poor. I expect feature parity as well, and still don't understand how Sonos could decide to launch that broken travesty of an update.
But within the larger context of the app not supporting playlist editing at all, I’m happy that the Windows Controller is back to fully functional. For me, as well, I have too much invested in Sonos devices to change system ‘merely’ because of a broken app.
The Desktop apps have always worked, it never had to become “back to fully functional” because the features were never taken away on the first place. (Well except for TuneIn Classic).
