Hey Sonos Community,
Wow, what a fantastic couple of months it's been celebrating our 20-year anniversary! I hope you all enjoyed participating in the celebrations and the potential to win some nice prizes 😉
During the celebrations, we took a trip down memory lane, revisiting some of our biggest milestones and the cool innovations that have shaped our sound experiences. It was awesome hearing your stories and seeing how Sonos has been a part of your lives.
One of the highlights for me was seeing all the creative ways you use your Sonos gear. From showing off your favorite products in our throwback thursdays and clever hacks to sharing your unique setups, it was truly inspiring to see the different ways you use your Sonos setups from a day to day.
I also had a chance to to chat with some of the key people behind Sonos. I had the chance to talk to Dick Mooijman, VP of Revenue and Strategy EMEA, and Rich Comer, Sr. Manager of Beta Programs, and ask them the same questions as Stacy Archibald. This is what they had to say:
Rich Comer
What is your role at Sonos and how long have you been working here?
Senior Manager, Beta Programs. I work alongside five excellent Beta PMs who help test all of our hardware and software prior to launch. I have been at Sonos for 10 years
How has the community and its discussions influenced your work?
We rely on the community to provide key insights and feedback which help shape our products. The passion and engagement from the community is truly inspiring.
What [aspect/product/piece of software/idea/] as part of your work at Sonos are you the most proud of?
I love sharing in the excitement of our new products - that smile someone gets when they first open the box or when they first hear a favorite album on their new, yet to be released Sonos product.
What product or idea for Sonos would you love to see realised?
I would love to see more collaborations with artists and special releases. Speaking of, if you know anyone that has an extra Beastie Boys Play:5…
Any comments for our community members?

What is your role at Sonos and how long have you been working here?
I’ve been with Sonos for 14 years and currently serve as the VP of Revenue & Strategy.
How has the community and its discussions influenced your work?
The community has been invaluable in shaping my work. The direct feedback from our customers plays a crucial role in our decision-making, much like the insights we gather from in-store interactions. It’s one of the closest ways we get to understanding how people truly experience our products.
What aspect of your work at Sonos are you the most proud of?
Even though we ultimately decided to sunset the program, Sonos Flex remains one of the most exciting projects of my career. It was an out-of-the-box idea that allowed us to collaborate across teams and explore something truly innovative.
What product or idea for Sonos would you love to see realized?
I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of a party speaker, as well as the potential intersection of sound, video, and healthcare. Sound has a proven impact on well-being, and I’d love to see how we could harness that in a meaningful way.
Any comments for our community members?
A huge thank you for your ongoing feedback and passion. Your insights are instrumental in shaping our products and software. Sonos wouldn’t be where it is today without this incredible community.
Now, it's time for the prizes. As I mentioned, there were some fantastic ideas for hacks, ways to use your setup, and future features/products. However, there can only be one winner in each category. I will reach out to the winners very soon, so keep an eye on your inbox. They are then free to announce themselves here if they wish. 😉
Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. Here's to many more years of shared experiences and groundbreaking sound!
Cheers!
