Hey everyone,

Last week, we mentioned it was time to show off your setups, and we hope you've had a chance to make them presentable! I've been on a journey with Sonos for years, starting with just one speaker (my dear Sonos One) and gradually building up to a full home audio system with a Beam and two Sonos Ones. My setup is still evolving as I try to find what works best for me, and I'd love to hear about your experiences too.

How has your setup changed over time? Have you added more speakers, upgraded models, or tried out new features? What’s your favorite part of your current setup? For me, it's the ability to “hide” the speakers in plain sight.

Feel free to post pictures of your Sonos setup—I’m curious to see how you've arranged your speakers and integrated them into your home. Do you have any tips or tricks for getting the best sound or making the most of your Sonos system? I'd love to hear them.

Personally, my recent upgrade has been adding a pair of console tables to place my Era 300s on. Keith gave me the idea as they also hold power plugs to charge my controllers and other devices that need power:

Cheaper than buying speaker stands, and also a lot more practical. 😅

I'm looking forward to seeing your posts and hearing about how you've fine-tuned your setup over time.

Heard that you can win one (or more) free Sonos products? Head over to the Surprise announcement thread for more information.

Participation by a user has to be completed  by the end of the Entry Period in order to be eligible to win. The database clock located on www.sonos.com will be the official timekeeper for this Contest. Except as otherwise contemplated in these Official Rules, and to the extent participants may otherwise elect at the time of participation, personal information collected in connection with the Contest will be used in accordance with Sonos' privacy policy located at http://www.sonos.com/legal/privacy.

 WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION

How do you win?

At the end of the Entry Period, Sonos will select a total number of eight (8) winners of the Contest, one for each of the categories listed in the “How It Works” section above. If two winners “tie” based on the metrics above, the user with the older account will win the tiebreak. If the winner does not want the prize the user with the second best metrics in the chosen category will win the prize.

No later than March 2nd, 2025, Sonos will contact the winners via private message in the community. Sonos shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by a potential prize winner for any reason. Time is of the essence in verifying each potential prize winner and awarding each prize. If, despite reasonable efforts, a potential winner does not respond within twenty-four (24) hours of the first notification attempt, or if the prize notification is returned as undeliverable to such potential winner, such potential winner will forfeit their prize and a runner-up winner may be selected. If any potential winner is found to be ineligible, or if they have not complied with these Official Rules or declines a prize for any reason prior to award, such potential winner will be disqualified, and an alternate winner may be selected. Sonos may successively attempt to contact up to two (2) potential winner(s) of an applicable prize in accordance with such procedure, and if there is still no confirmed winner(s) of such applicable prize after such attempts have been made, if any, such prize may go unawarded.

No mechanically reproduced, illegible, incomplete, forged, software-generated or other automated multiple entries will be accepted. If a dispute as to the identity of the individual who actually submitted an entry cannot be resolved to Sonos' satisfaction, the affected entry will be deemed ineligible. Nothing really fancy in terms of setup, however, we have noticed, at least for us, that the higher the unit and after using trueplay, the sound has been better for music.  The connect in our living room was the unit we wanted to hide a bit behind glass in the wall unit and really showcase the old school stereo we have (Arcam FMJ A38, Polk Sub, Boston acoustics bookshelf’s & Monitor Audio Towers (Silver Series)) - the connect was by far the biggest addition to our music experience - just incredible to stream through the old school equipment….😎 - the Sonos units we have are spread out through the entire household - music everywhere and playing all day - we love it!!

Thanks

Derek

Here’s a look at my eclectic Sonos setup 😂. The wife wouldn’t allow me to post a picture of the master bedroom. However, it has an Arc Ultra with Era 300 surrounds and Sub 4. As you can see I have HomePods in the mix. Looking closely you’ll spy my three (3) ASUS routers that comprise my mesh network (Main Media on lower level, Living Room on 2nd level and Office on 3rd level).

@Mike R. H.

You are Magnifico! The Bee’s Knee’s!  The essescne of Suave and Debonair!  I hope that's enough  unabashed flattery and ego building 😂! That said….any chance I can get a copy of that very COOL Sonos poster!!

Love how hidden it is @DIY242! It is a similar style to how I handle most of my speakers, like the one hidden in my kitchen:

I found that the space between the power outlet and the fridge was perfect for my knife block and an Era 100.

Loving the setups @AjTrek1 but I have a question… what is this and why do you have 3 of them? 😅

And regarding the Play:3 poster, it was found deep in the basement of our old office in Hilversum when we were prepping to move out. With the Play:3 being my favorite product, you know I ran as fast as possible to get it 😂. There are only a few left, as it is printed on a thin piece of wood, making it very fragile and not easy to move around. I can speak from experience, having done two moves with it so far, and it is in need of a new frame as the current one is starting to come apart.

@Mike R. H.

Thanks for the backstory regarding this beautiful picture! I’m still envious 😊

Regarding the object in my office photo angled behind the Roam 2’s. That’s one of my ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12 routers that comprise my mesh network (as you probably surmised). The ASUS terminology is AiMesh. Only certain ASUS routers can be used to configure an AiMesh. They don’t have to be the same model ASUS router; but they must have AiMesh capability. I chose the ET12’s because they are WiFi 6E capable. I also like the tower design with internal antennae which presents a clean non-router look.😊

The picture below shows that sixty-four (64) clients were active at the time I took the snippet.

This picture shows how the clients were dispersed at the time between main and satellite nodes. The Green lines indicate a “wired backhaul” versus using the 6Ghz band as a “wireless backhaul”. Each node is therefore capable of broadcasting all three (3) bands.

The number of clients on each node will change periodically allowing for balance and Adaptive QoS device prioritization. Streaming devices are Tier 1 which includes thirty-one (31) Sonos units.

The most important reason I like the ASUS AiMesh is that if there’s a disruption on any part the AiMesh network, self-healing capability immediately replaces a failed router using the remaining router connections. So my connection will not be disrupted. All I need do is replace the router if the failure is complete.

I probably gave you more information than you bargained for or wanted. So my apologies for dispensing TMI (Too Much Information) 😂

It is awfully close to the Sonos devices. Not much interference?

Oh, so it was a mesh system! I thought it looked a bit like an Apple Airport Express and felt familiar, but I couldn't remember what it was for. Good to know. Handling 64 clients is quite a feat these days. I remember having to replace my ISP router because it couldn't even manage the 12 Sonos devices I had at the time. 😅

Regarding the poster, @Marco.B showed me a page where you can find some prints from that era of Sonos. It’s not the same format as mine, but there is a Play:3 you could print: https://yodawg.cargo.site/Sonos-Your-Home-Print

The Roams are not in use and off line. I only use them outside in the summer.

Main system only, there’s also a Symfonisk in the bedroom, a One in the kitchen, in the bathroom and in my home office aka attic.

Started with a Marantz/Tannoy set up, this is in 2013:

The Beam arrived in 2018:

With One's (and Sub gen 2):

New TV stand and new TV, Connect is also visible on top of the CD-player:

Arc Ultra, 2024:

Beam moved to family member:

Hey… just like to add pics of some parts of my actual Sonos system.
I started with Sonos in 2017 with a used single Play1. The guy selling it had a second one and one and a half days later I was standing in front of his door to buy the second one. 😂

That stereo pair was the reason I felt in love with Sonos.

Over the years I tried several configurations like a Connect Gen2 with my old Nubert soundbar, later a Sonos Playbar (I really was happy with), home theater with Sub2 and Play1 as rears and a great sounding P5 Gen2 stereopair.

In the meantime I was downsizing the system and most rooms are equipped just with a single speaker. Sonos One G2 in the kitchen and office, Move 2 in the bedroom, Era100 for the daughter and a Roam for the bathroom.
The living room has got a single Era300, a ht setup (Beam2, Sub Mini, 2 Era100 and Ace) and of course my single Play5 Gen2 I love most and use in combination with my “Mood Play“ to listen Musik in my relax chair.
The P5 Gen2 has the prime position on the latest version of Flexon Premium Stand for Five/ P5 G2.

@Schlumpf I see that you have a MoodPlay. How do you like it? I tried to purchase one last year but they didn’t have the option to ship to the U.S. They don’t seem to be making any more either as they haven’t been in stock in quite some time.

Hi…

I like the Mood Play very much and fortunately it still works quite well.
But as you mentioned Senic seems to got in some financial trouble. They were a small company from Berlin specialized in Sonos compatible products of high quality. But such products have their prices and there’s always the risk of not reaching enough customers. Imho Mood Play is a great product, but 50 percent of its value depends on loving a product made of high quality material and design and also on the love for classic usage similar to vinyl fans.
As far as I know there probably are plans of reorganizing and financing. The servers and service still is working, so I cross my fingers they will be successful.
The device and service work like a charm, so that‘s not an issue at all. But seems not enough users were such excited about usage in comparison to pricing.
I‘m wondering if they would have reached more customers with Mood Play in the US market.

My setup began in late 2016 with a Play:1 in the kitchen. It is now in the children’s bedroom (Nursery). A One was later added to replace the Play:1 in the kitchen:

The Play:1 is the only speaker wired with an ethernet cable. It has given me a very stable Sonos ecosystem for many years.

I added a couple of more Play:1s that started in the dining room and later was used as surrounds with my Arc. Now the Play:1s are being used as surrounds with a Beam setup at my sister’s home.

My next addition was a Play:5 (Gen 2) that was used in the Living Room. I later added another Play:5 which was briefly used as surrounds with my Arc. They are currently being used as a stereo pair in my master bedroom connected to a turntable:

My favorite Sonos setup.

My next speaker was a Move to replace the Play:1s in the dining room. It has since been sold to a friend (and fellow Sonos fan) and replaced with a Move 2:

My most used setup is my home theater system that started as an Arc + Sub (Gen 3) + Play:1s. The Play:1s were then replaced with the two Play:5s mentioned above. The Play:5s were then replaced with the Era 300s. A second Sub (Gen 2) was added. And most recently, the Arc was replaced with the Arc Ultra and the Sub (Gen 2) was replaced with the Sub 4. The Arc and the Sub (Gen 2) now have a happy home at my father-in-law’s house.

I love how well this setup blends in to my living room space.

My next device is the Amp. It used to power an in-ground speaker by the back porch but has since been replaced with a pair of Sonos Architectural Outdoor speakers. The sound quality on this setup is fantastic:

The Amp is stored in my media cabinet in the living room with my Arc Ultra setup.

Next is the Roam. It stays in the kitchen most of the time with the One. But we often take it with us on walks, when we go to the park for a picnic, or on our annual beach trip:

My final setup is in my office where I use a stereo pair of Era 100s with a Sub Mini. This is also where I use my Ace headphones the most:

This is where my local music library gets played the most. It is stored on an external SD drive directly connected to my router.

Every speaker needs it’s own Elmo 😁
