Adding Play 3's to existing system

I'm attempting to add two Play 3's to my existing system that currently has two Play 1's. When adding the speaker through the app, it finds the Play 3's, and says it needs to create a temporary network to add the components. After joining the temporary network, both speakers fail to play the 'chime' or don't reflect the designated button is being pushed as an alternate connecting mode. I’m currently using S2 with mobile internet (TMobile) without issues in the current system. Suggestions? Or what further information is needed to help trouble-shoot?

It might be the firmware on the 3s is too old, if the other suggestions don’t work call support and have them push fresh firmware.

It sometimes helps to temporarily wire them by Ethernet cable during setup.

Have these Play;3s been used on another system? If so you must factory reset them before adding to your system.  Did you do that?

Thanks for all the suggestions and tips. For background, both Play 3’s were used in another system and worked properly. They were deleted from the previous system and factory reset per the former owner.

In my trouble-shooting, I was able to factory reset one of the Play 3’s and ultimately get it connected to my current system and it’s working. The other Play 3, however, I’m unable to factory reset. Following the factory reset steps, the light remains in a flashing amber/orange color, never turning green. Based on this, assuming it’s a firmware issue?

Failure ro reset is more likely to indicate a hardware fault, I'm afraid.
