Have a chat with other Sonos owners. What's going on in the world of music and technology? What's playing?

I was hoping to find something closer to the Macrumors forums where there's talk about new products, what you'd like to see in future releases, common excitement about upcoming products etc. but mostly this forum is just people asking the same question over and over. Albeit, there is some of what I've listed above but the vast majority is repetition. Responses from Sonos staff are nice but often the replies are cryptic as they can't be transparent about the roadmap of the company. Anyone else feel this way?
I bought sonos many years ago and grew my system by adding more items to find that I was being left behind by other systems. The list of things that I can't do just grew and grew too. Till now I've another product that does almost everything. By the way, I tried to talk to sonos many times The things Sonos say they can do and don't allows me to stand at a sonos sales point listening to a sales person describe the system to a potential client and contradict almost everything they say. The salesman says. 1.You can play your music at any time. I say no! Only if you have an internet connection. How often do you not have the internet? Well, ever time you don't your speakers are useless. They say you can get around this. Yes you can, I'll take you half and hour on the phone if you can get through to someone that knows what he's doing. 2. Also if you take your Sonos to your friends you must get into his internet. That'll take a reset. Can you find out how to do that without spending
Anybody else done the survey? I thought it was really thorough, one of the best thought-out ones I have every done. Lots of insightful questions into what sonos users would like to see happen in the future. Several options to state you own chromecasts, and then request intergration, which would enable bbc iplayer being cast to sonos 🆒
At first it was amazing, now not so much.
As of today, the scroll wheel on my mouse (Logitech M510 Wireless) does not work on this forum. Windows 7 Professional SP 1, Google Chrome browser.
Better sound, supposedly. Doubt it will still perform anywhere near as well as a Play:1. The (touch?) screen will make it useful on a nightstand or in the kitchen.
Every time I go into the forum I find I'm logged out. Entering my password gives the message that my password is incorrect, but when I enter it, it logs me in. I've tried the reset password option but still it's not recognized when I first go to the forum. Deleting it and entering it again works. Help please!
With this new platform we believe we are building the foundation for a great and growing community for years to come, but we also recognise that there’s room for improvement. This platform is different from the ones it has replaced, and will never function in exactly the same way, but contrary to the previous platforms we will be able to optimise and make improvements over time. We’ve received great feedback, and as promised, we intend to communicate transparently about what we can and can’t do to improve the community in the weeks and months to come. This topic will be the place where we maintain a list of upcoming changes that have been asked for and where we post updates when something is implemented. We also want to point out changes we have requested but where feasibility is not yet certain, as well as areas where we know we won’t be able to make changes in the near future. We will be looking for more feedback on some areas as they are being planned, so we’ll keep you poste

I'd really like to watch that samurai-looking film from one of the playbase commercials with my playbase when it gets here. Does anyone know what it's called?
Hello, My parents have the Sonos Play 1 in their home and love it. I was considering getting them the Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot to pair with their Sonos system. However, it is unclear from product reviews if the Sonos Play 1 can pair with these Amazon products. My hope is that if they can pair, my parents can talk to the Echo and control the Sonos system. Could anyone confirm if this is or isn't possible? Thank you!
I subscribed to the old community via rss everything just appeared , (Shrook) I subscribed to and read the posts that interested me. However now it seems that I have to have an issue or a question and then try to find the answer. Is there a way I can get all the posts like before hopefully via rss? Thanks
One name I know from my audiophile days, for excellent if power hungry and expensive speakers, is Dynaudio. I just came across their wireless offering that looks to me to be the first Sonos like solution by a legacy firm, admittedly at much higher price points. Multiples higher, most likely. Their streaming core unit happens to also be called Connect:) See this for more:http://www.dynaudio.com/home-audio/focus-xd#features At first reading, it looks like a Sonos contender in full traditional HiFi attire, including wireless floor standing active speakers. It would be interesting to see a comparison of a 5 pair compared to their starting speaker offering, an active stand mounted model.
I replied to 3 topics this morning over 2 hours. The first 2 are held awaiting moderation but are yet to "approved". I note from comments in a thread on the Announcements section that others are having this issue. Why is this getting much worse and why aren't you or InSided telling us when you make these Draconian changes? Do you not realise you irritating it is?
Does this forum have terms of service guiding what sort of statements are acceptable?
Dear Sonos developers - I read in today's New York Times that Sonos is working on possible Amazon Echo voice recognition integration. As a loyal Sonos user, wanted to request that this feature not simply be pushed out as an enhancement/upgrade, but made optional in some way....perhaps a simple on/off feature. I have no interest in using this feature as I have privacy concerns.
Ok, this isn't a formulated or considered question, nore have I really looked for a solution?! - its just something that's bothering me... I wonder if anyone else has the same issue or a solution??!! With the invent of online music services - putting literally every artist and album at a couple of clicks away - I'm struggling to remember what to listen to and over the years have found my musical listening menu shrink and stagnate. I grew up with the invent of the CD - prior to MP3 players and Sonos - I had various piles of CDs - broadly speaking, 3 piles at all times: 1.) CDs I was in the process of listening to (and too lazy to take back to the rack) 2.) CDs I'd just bought (again, stacked next to the CD player) 3.) The full rack of CDs where everything else was tidied into. So my listening history had some kind of physical order. And the beauty being, this had some kind of order. As I thought about things, CDs migrated from the rack to the 'listening to' pile and back.
I have never identified with any of Sonos' marketing efforts. Each time I have peeked at the Sonos Blog I have not found anything interesting, other than vague company announcements. Just this past weekend I spent way too much time attempting to navigate the Sonos client app trying to find my favorite podcasts so I might use the app to play them instead of using my PC speakers and browser bookmarks. I'm not sure what TuneIn Radio is, what, if any, relationship it has with Sonos, but will say the categorization of podcasts is a burden to navigate and the client Search feature is almost invisible and very rudimentary. The well known shortcomings of the Sonos client app now make perfect sense. Sonos is out of touch with those that own Sonos products and those that would be interested in owning a Sonos product. I sincerely doubt the embarrassing commercial that aired during the Grammy telecast was intentionally bad in order to generate buzz. Even if so, I am now embarrassed to admit
Did anyone see the Sonos commercial last night in between the Grammys? I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it. I have never seen any of their ads before. I thought it was a great spot for it. - Kris 🙂
Well everyone, it's Friday again! What's playing? For those of us in the US with a long weekend or anyone else taking one anyway, do you wind down the week or spin up the weekend? Maybe a little bit of both? Recommend a playlist or favorite album for the weekend or for just getting through the Friday. I've got some Bruce Springsteen playing myself right now. "Working on the Highway."
Just posted a reply in the Ask a Question forum and received a message that the reply will be posted after review by moderators. Is this a "new" feature or just for me? or........?
Dear Sonos, your recent email suggesting "House Party, Family Dance Off, Weekend BBQ etc I find deeply irritating as the one thing Sonos is currently hopeless at and you have systematically mucked up over the last few "upgrades" is creating, then manipulating queues in a DJ like setting. Do you guys at Sonos actually use this software in anger, I find it hard to believe you do? Are you hell bent on integrating with voice control, streaming services etc. to the complete detriment of the original Sonos experience? The software certainly looks pretty - it just has lost all semblance of functionality. I was DJ at my home New Years Eve bash and I was hard pushed to stop myself throwing my Android Tablet out the window the interface was so rubbish. Please listen to your users and get this sorted and until then leave off sending out emails stating what the system supposedly canndo when it patently can't. If this appears to come across as a rant then I am sorry but it is
No matter what I do, my userid is linked to the UK site. I set my location, I change the URL to en-us, I log in from a known US IP address, when it sees my login or cookie, it swtiches me back to the en-gb URL in the store or accounts pages. I think it started when I logged in from work, which sometimes connects me via a UK IP address, but now even when I use my iPad to connect over LTE or my home network, it *still* puts me in en-gb. Can someone there who runs the website reset whatever record is associated with my cookie?
http://www.whathifi.com/news/sonos-plans-new-speaker-amazons-alexa-voice-control-tech Dunno, i read the Variety article and did not come to the same conclusion. Maybe i missed something. Looks like new CEO may be open to an IPO, though. He's a sales and marketing type, so I'm afaid Sonos' long run of great engineering and support may be ending. Too bad, if true.
John MacFarlane, CEO and co-founder of smart speaker company Sonos is stepping down after 15 years of leading the company. The Sonos blog has his full statement Statement. What does this mean for the company future, does it signify serious issues or is it the company taking a new direction and needing a fresh outlook? Time will tell but given the redundancies of last year, the delay to Alexa integration, and recent debarcles with Spam on this forum, the signs are not good. Alternativley recent moves, openinh up the API for example, could show the company moving to a more open set up that differs from the values one of the Founders had. Let's hope the company pulls through and prospers.
