play 1 will not connect to wifi, even after reset

My sonos play one will not connect to my wifi network at all, even after a hard reset. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, made no difference.

it connects ok via ethernet but connecting via wifi just says unable to connect every time.

I need help as i don’t see any other options to get it working

Hi @mhoward90

Are you using a 2.4 GHz WiFi network? A Sonos Play:1 will not connect to 5GHz.

Your 2.4 GHz network should be in b/g mode, with a width of 20 MHz, and any Smart Setup options in your router’s settings should be disabled.

If you are in any doubt, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team, who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and network.

Have you rebooted your router?

If rebooting the router doesn’t help, get in touch with Sonos Support; the WiFi card may have gone bad.

I have rebooted it, no problems with anything else connecting to it either

What router? If its an Asus or a BT one, then get a decent router instead that works properly.

If using iOS make sure you have the Local Network setting set correctly.
